Dodgin Diamond II - Image 1Cpajuste calls them crappy, but we think they're the start of something really good. He's ported some old GP2X games for use with the PSPs, and while all the features aren't there yet, they're pretty nicely made ports.

The ports are of the following games: DCircus, Defend, Dodgin Diamond II, Pang, and Yeti3D. Now, there aren't any real instructions for installing them, but they follow your standard eboot installation procedure, so you should be good to go.

As for the individual quirks that have come up (since Cpajuste did do this for learning purposes), the readme texts on each compressed file should tell you what bugs or problems exist on the games themselves. Enjoy!

PSP - Image 1A few days ago, Cpajuste came up with the Custom Firmware Extender v1.0. Now, he is back with an update to this app. But before you get lost in the changelog and all the other technical stuff, we'll give you a general idea of what this nifty thing is. Basically, it's a set of two plugins for Dark_AleX's custom firmware (although he didn't specify which custom firmware), which will add some extra options for your PSP. With this app, here's what you could do:
  • Start and stop a ftpd server while under the VSH (PSP Menu) to transfer files via WIFI (WEP,WPA).
  • Reset the PSP with a button while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
  • Power off the PSP with a button while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
  • Change the speed of the PSP CPU/FSB while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
  • Start and stop Usb Mass Storage under the VSH (PSP Menu) while browsing.
  • Take a screenshot while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO) saved in the PHOTO folder.
  • Set a default CPU/BUS speed at startup.
  • Set Usb Mass Storage at startup.
  • Configure your buttons mapping (NOTE button + your selected button).
Now, we head on over to the changelog for v1.1:
  • Capture folder will be created under "ms0:/PSP/PHOTO" if it dont exist.
  • Enable brightness button to go to the max level.
  • Ftpd server wont be launched if the psp web browser was already used
And even if we're sounding like broken records already, we'll still say these friendly reminders - Please read and understand the readme file that comes with the download. Check out the forum release thread for more info. Suggestions, questions, concerns? That's what the comments section is for. With all that said, download link's down there, have fun!

update icon = FTP start! - Image 1Cpajuste released a new version of VSH FTPD, his port of PSPKrazy and Zx-81's PSPFTPD program. While this new version doesn't happen to have a lot of new changes, the tweaks he put in do make quite a bit of difference, especially since a bunch of bugs were removed since version one.

VSH FTPD Module 02 for DA 3.03 FW has the following changes:
  • The IP address will now be displayed.
  • Strange games folders bug identified, you shouldn't use the "hide kxploit" option from CFW 303.
  • Circle to exit the FTPD server almost correctly, browsing video menu will work now after sending files, there's still a bug to free all the memory, the web browser cant be launched after a file was transfered.
  • Source code included, maybe someone will fix the few bugs left before me.
Cpajuste wants to remind folks to read the readme and be careful in installing and using this app. This module flashes the PSP, so there's always the possibility of bricking it. Be sure to send him some props for a job well-done, and don't hesitate to visit the forum release thread if you want to ask questions on installing and using the app.

PSP - Image 1PSP homebrew dev Cpasjuste, who also gave us 2.71 SE-B VSH Overclocking module, has released a port of PSP-FTPD originally created by PSPKrazy, picked up by Zx-81 which he modded to work as module under the 3.03 VSH. It's called VSH FTPD Module 1 for DA 3.03 FW. It's an FTP server that will run under the VSH when launched with the updater icon from the PSP menu.

How to install and use:
  • Copy the content of the MS_ROOT folder at the root of the memory stick
  • Launch Vsh_Ftpd_Flasher under the game menu of the PSP
  • Press Circle to replace the current update_plugin.prx module with the FTPD one
  • Select the Updater icon under the PSP menu (VSH) to launch the ftpd server
  • Connect to your PSP with your favorite FTP client as anonymous on port 21 (For now there are no info printed on the screen, so you have to either set a static IP or know/find your dynamic IP yourself)
  • If you send homebrews via FTP, you should enter in the game saves menu, for example, then comeback under the game menu to update the list
Cpajuste says it's got a few bugs such as when the module is launched, it is impossible to enter the video menu from the VSH. The module is flashed to flash0:/vsh/nodule/update_plugin.prx, replacing the current one. By selecting the update icon under the PSP menu, the FTPD server will be launched in anonymous mode. Browsing PSP menu and launching homebrew while the FTPD is running should not cause problems. He also says the source code will be released soon.

Please refer to the readme file before you use this application. Or in the words of Cpajuste: THE MODULE WILL BE FLASHED TO YOUR PSP. WHILE THIS HAS BEEN TESTED AND SHOULD BE SAFE, THIS IS CAN BRICK YOUR PSP. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Overclocking... Clock Up!So, who here owns a PSP? How many of you are currently using anything made by the original Dark_Alex? How many of you are using 2.71 Custom Firmware SE-B, which he made as well? Well, for those enterprising members of the homebrew scene, Cpajuste's come up with a rather useful module for your PSP, if you know how to use it, that is.

Yes, we're sounding ominous, but it's mostly just to warn the uninitiated to be careful with adding new programs onto their PSP. Cpajuste's created the Dark_Alex SE-B Overclocking Module 01, which is aptly named simply because he's only been able to test it on the Custom Firmware SE-B versions. In this case, it enables games to run at 333 Mhz.

To better explain the risks involved with an overclocking mod, let's take a page from his own notes:

So here it is, a module is flashed to flash0 (oc.prx) and a "pspbtcnf_game.txt" file is updated to take care of this.

Only UMD or ISO games should use this module since it's launched with the 2.71 firmwares files, homebrews that use 1.50 modules should not use it.

Anyway it's really working, I've compiled the module to run games at 333 Mhz and it was damn slow. I will also try to add CPU speed switching in the future.

- To install, copy the content of the PSP_ROOT folder to your memory stick then launch as usual.

- TWO FILES ARE COPIED TO THE FLASH USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

- XMB will remain at 222 Mhz

- Compatible with SE-B and SE-B' (SEB2)

- All is automatic, no possibility to switch games back to 222 Mhz (exept if you remove seb with the recovery).

- WIFI IS BROKEN FOR NOW, NO ONLINE PLAY.

If you've got the know-how to master installation of the module, and aren't afraid of any potential bricking, then why not give it a try? Just note that we won't be responsible for any bricked PSPs, so make sure you know what you're doing beforehand. Boy, is the homebrew scene a scary place for folks without technical knowledge. Enjoy the mod, and remember that Halloween is coming up, so don't spook us with tales of PSPs coming back from the brick, alright?
