Hypothetically speaking, what do you think of a Metal Gear Solid movie that has Christian Bale and Daniel Craig in it as Solid and Liquid Snake, respectively? Would you go see it? You may have to decide soon, because if this poster is the real deal then that's just what we'll see in 2011.

To many a gamer, the name David Hayter rings a bell. Most of us would know him as the voice behind Solid Snake in the MGS series. But he's also got his screenwriting career under his belt (X-Men, Watchmen). In this video interview, he reveals that Hollywood politics may have blasted his chances for penning the MGS movie, however, he's looking rather optimistic.

Being one of Konami's biggest studios, Kojima Productions has some big plans for 2009. What are they up to? What's big man Hideo Kojima working on? And more importantly, are David Hayter and the rest of the gang still willing to work on more Metal Gear games despite some (questionable) psychological trauma?

So, what are David Hayter and the rest of the MGS voice cast doing after their stint with Konami? Oh, I don't know... maybe dealing with all the trauma they've been through as characters in the game? It's quite sad that the Japanese won't be having a launch party in honor of Konami's opus, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, but for those who live in the US, the show must go on. If you get your PlayStation Network purchases from Japan, then there's probably one game out now that you're dying to pick up. That's right folks: Metal Gear Solid is now out, and you can pick it up by going to the PSN Store. More after the jump!

For many of us, this isn't really such a big deal. For the purists and hardcore-fans, however, the topic of whether a localized game should be subbed or dubbed is a factor that can potentially alter the entire play experience. The good news is it looks like the Metal Gear Solid movie is still a go. The bad news is that David Hayter won't be involved with the project.

According to IGN, the man who gave Solid Snake a voice will not be a part of the film. Hayter reportedly pitched his take on the Metal Gear Solid movie project to Konami but the company "opted not to hire him to script and/or produce it".

Konami also reportedly passed on a Hayter-penned big-screen treatment, which according to an insider was kind of like Metal Gear Solid meets "Apocalypse Now" with Snake in the middle of a "swirling whirlpool of Genomic/military madness".
