Homer Simpsons Quote Machine v0.5 - Homer fun on your PSP - Image 1Homer Simpsons Quote Machine v0.5 - Homer fun on your PSP - Image 2

Homebrew developer lmtlmt dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and released a fun little  application called Homer Simpson Quote Machine v0.5. Just like its name implies, it is a program that plays funny and memorable sound clips from the doughnut-loving, beer-drinking, and Bart-strangling Homer.

Those who've been following the PSP homebrew scene for some time might remember that a similar program was released by coder Deanaw22 back in December of last year. Anyway, Homer Simpson's Quote Machine v0.5 has a total of eight quotes but lmtlmt mentioned that more will be added if you guys like the program.

On a little note, some of the sound bytes may not play at once after you've selected them. The developer attributes this to the code of the program. lmtlmt promises that it will be cleaned up and furnished in future versions. This build is compatible will all firmwares above 1.5 including 3.52 M33.

PSPBored? If you're looking for a little fun, check out Deanaw22's Simpsons Soundboard. It has 50 sound clips from The Simpsons, including clips of Homer screaming and the classic "Hi, I'm Troy McLure" intro by the late Phil Hartman.

Homer's trademark "D'oh!" isn't included in this version of the Simpsons Soundboard, but Deanaw22 says that he'll look for a suitable clip to be added in the next release, along with some character icons. Deanaw22 also says that soundboards for other shows like The Family Guy and Borat are in the works, so look out for those releases too.

For a list of the available sound clips, check out the screenshots below. If you have any suggestions or comments, don't hesitate to click on the 'discuss' link below to talk about this release in the QJ forums.

PSPool 001

You must have noticed too that there are a lot of developers opting to leave the scene for a little while (And we say that with crossed fingers...), there are also those that - thank all the circuit gods - are staging a huge comeback.

BlackPhoenix and Deanaw22, dishes out a spanking new version of their port of a Jerrit Jahn original called Another Pool. There is no other way to describe PSPool v0.1b but well made. Do you really think that we'll include it in the Top 10 Homebrew Summer Sizzlers if it wasn't?

PSPool 002

It's still the PSPool that we all have been addicted to, but this time addiction takes on a whole new level, as Deanaw22 adds table customization to the mix. You now have the option to show off your personality and creativity, by giving the pool table your own touch. Just edit the PDF file included inside the game when you download it.

But, we hope and hope some more, that the next update wouldn't take months to appear. The waiting is unbearable.

PSPirates v2

MexicanSnake and Deanaw22 have released another version of their PSPirates homebrew game coded in Lua, updating it to version 2 just three days after the first release. In this button-mashing styled game, you have to try and destroy the pirate ship opposite you before it destroys yours! Quite a few moderate updates have been added for this version, all of which increases the longevity of this game. Here's the changelog:
  • Added 3 difficulty modes: Easy, Medium and Hard.
  • Modifications to the credits section
  • Each time a cannon ball is fired a small flame can be spotted at the tip of each cannon, providing a little more detail to the game.
And the updates don't stop there. MexicanSnake and Deanaw22 have online play and a few more future releases' secretive features. Suggestions or ideas for improvements to this game are welcome in the forum release thread. Keep mashing those buttons!

PSPiratesMexicansnake, in conjunction with Deanaw22, has released a button-masher type game named PSPirates (written in LUA) with the aim of the game being to destroy the other boat first.

They are both the first to admit, that the game is a really small one and that they finished it in only 2 days! Notwithstanding this, the game is pretty fun (and pretty hard) and the controls are pretty straight forward - just use X in the game (as quick as you can) to sink the other boat!
