Back in October, Paul W.S. Anderson shared that production for the
long-planned Castlevania movie adaptation will soon go full swing. Prior to all this, it was believed that the story of the Castlevania
movie project will revolve around a knight from Transylvania hiding
from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. Well, you can all forget about that as the official plot of the movie has just been revealed. The plot after the jump! |

While giving way to Sylvain White as the director for the Castlevania movie adaptation, Paul W.S. Anderson remains part of the project as a producer. In a recent interview, Anderson shared that the Castlevania movie's shooting will likely begin in a couple of months. This is because they want the script to be done before the impending writer's strike. "I'm hoping to get a script for it in two or three weeks. And I'm hoping it's great. Sylvain White is directing it, and we're hoping to kind of make it a pre-strike movie. So it kind of shoots in the next couple months," said Anderson. It was reported a while ago that Rogue Pictures wanted a complete overhaul to the Castlevania script. According to earlier reports, the previous plot of the planned Castlevania movie revolved around a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. The video game franchise Castlevania from Konami first appeared in 1986 on the platform Famicom Disk System. |

While North American fans start getting their copies of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles for PSP today, Japanese gamers have to wait for a couple of weeks more until November 8 to try the game. As part of its continued marketing strategy, Konami opened a microsite for the title over at Famitsu's official website. As you all probably know, Famitsu is one of the most respected video game publication in Japan today. This joint venture is definitely a good way to further hype up the title in the remaining days prior to the Japanese launch. Not that Dracula X Chronicles needs more hyping up but it's an excellent move from Konami to widen its audience more. Regarding the microsite itself, it is home to the background story of the new game as well as a little comparison with the original title which was released in 1993 on PC Engine. Some sections of the said microsite were dedicated to features, character profiles, and a little info on Castlevania Producer Koji Igarashi. Click the Read link below to visit Famitsu's page for Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. |

Looking to score a new PSP Slim & Lite with the ridiculously-awesome Darth Vader silkscreen, but don't have enough greenbacks for it? Then you'd better hurry up and go over to Fry's, as the online shopping website is now offering the PSP Limited Edition Star Wars Entertainment Pack, as well as Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles, for considerably lower prices in their One Day Sale promo. So how much does the Star Wars Entertainment Pack cost? US$ 184.99 - quite a drop from its regular US$ 199 price (but still coming bundled with its goodies, along with Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron). As for Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles, it's going for about US$ 21 a pop, which is a steal considering it lets us play a chapter in the series that's never seen the light of day outside Japan. Certainly a very good deal for gamers on a budget, wouldn't you say? Updates as we get them, and you can check out the website itself via the read link below. Do note that this is a limited offer, so you'll have to act fast! |

The online website of retail chain Gamestop is currently giving away a bonus offer for consumers who will pre-order Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles from them. The said offer comes in the form of an 8-bit Simon Belmont toy figure. Supplies are limited so you might want to place an order now.
Anyway, Simon Belmont is one of the recurring characters in the Castlevania video game franchise. The Belmont clan is well known for slaying vampires and it was Simon's turn to fulfill his family's fate when Count Dracula once again rose in the year 1691. Dracula X Chronicles, however, features his descendant Richter Belmont. Konami's Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles is essentially a remake of PC Engine's Rondo of Blood and marks the first time the game will be available outside Japan. Gamestop's pre-order pricing for the title is at US$ 29.99. The game itself will be released this coming October 23. Click on the Read link below to go to Gamestop's product page where you can order the title. |

A development has just happened for the upcoming movie adaptation of the successful video game franchise Castlevania. According to horror film website Bloody-Disgusting, Paul W.S. Anderson is no longer part of the project as the director "wanted to focus" on his remake of Death Race. What happens now to the movie Castlevania? According to the said website, the new director is going to be Sylvain White and the whole script is being revamped by Ian Jeffers. One of White's latest projects is the movie Stomp the Yard while Jeffers is mostly known for his adaptation of Death Sentence featuring the actor Kevin Bacon. It should be remembered that Paul W.S. Anderson mentioned back in March of this year that he will remain actively involved in the movie adaptation no matter what happens because he has grown attached to it. It is still unclear as of now whether Rogue Pictures would want to retain some of Anderson's ideas for Castlevania. To help you decide if this development is a good thing or not, be informed that part of Anderson's plot for the movie adaptation includes a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. |

Prepare to hear Dracula give his opinion about what actually construes a "man" once more in this Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles trailer video fresh from GC. No, he doesn't actually make the speech about man being a sad little bundle of secrets, but there IS some epic gameplay footage to be seen (as well as some of the game's beautifully-rendered cutscenes).
Besides the usual dungeon spelunking and demon-whipping, we also see Maria joining in to deal with a couple of demons on her own. It's noticeable that while the graphics have been given some next-gen polish (that being, everything is in 3D now), it actually works for the series, and doesn't detract from the gameplay at all. Definitely a classic for any PSP owner's library. Embed's below, you know what to do. Enjoy! |

Konami's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is now available at the PlayStation store for US$ 9.99. If you've never played this game, then it is a very good time to pick it up and play it because it was and arguably still is one of the best 2D side-scrollers.It was first released on the PlayStation way back in 1997 and was well received by the gaming community. The game made it to the "Greatest Hits" line of re-released best-selling PlayStation games and received multiple awards such as PlayStation Game of the Year from EGM and Game of the Year from PSM. The game's story takes place during the year 1797, five years after the events of Dracula X (remade for the PSP as Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles) where Richter Belmont defeats Count Dracula. Four years later, Richter vanishes and is later shown to be under the control of the dark priest Shaft. The shift in the balance of good and evil causes the son of Dracula, Alucard, to awaken. He discovers that Castlevania has once again manifested itself and sets out to discover what has transpired while he slept. So if you're looking for an engaging adventure game, we strongly recommend that you go pick-up the game. Be forewarned though that it will take up about 384 MBs of your HD or MemStick space and hours of your free and (not so free) time. |
