Egyptian Ratscrew screenshot - Image 1

As promised after the first release, PSP homebrew developer emericaska8r just dropped by the QJ.NET forums to bring us Egyptian Ratscrew version 2.0. Plenty of tweaks that came with the update make for more Egyptian Ratscrew-ing action. Commonly known as ERS, this card game is sure to deliver some quality slapping time.

If you haven't heard of Egyptian Ratscrew, Rat Slap, Iraqi Rat Screw, Listen Up Jack, Egyptian Sewer Rats, or Rugrat, then you're missing out on one of the better accumulation card games there is. The goal here is to hold the entire deck by the end of the game to be declared the winner. Learning will take some practice, so newbies would have to play a game or two.

For everyone who else who know the rules and anticipated this update, here's the changelog:
  • Added more slapping variations, which may be turned on/off in the options menu
  • Added cpu difficulty levels, which may be changed in the options menu
  • Added slapping sounds, and graphics
  • Added random card placement when playing a card
  • Fixed minor bug when playing your final card
The game has always been rich in slapping variations, making the addition of more as a plus. With fresh ways to slap the pile and extra CPU difficulty levels to choose from, let those sewer rats loose! If you don't want to screw up, make sure to read the Readme file for more details.

Egyptian Ratscrew v1.0 - Image 1 Egyptian Ratscrew v1.0 - Image 2

Ever played a game of Riff-Raff, Sixth Hour Slap, Rat Slap, or Egyptian Ratslap? Those games are actually one and the same, more commonly known as Egyptian Ratscrew or simply ERS. It's a fun game to play, but what if you don't have anybody to play it with? PSP homebrew developer emericaska8r probably thought of the same thing and made the card game fit for loners.

This new project is called Egyptian Ratscrew and it's currently on version 1.0. In case you don't have the slightest idea what the card game is about, Egyptian Ratscrew is all about getting all the cards and you only get to win when you get all 52 cards (or more if you're playing with more decks) in the deck. Anyway, the homebrew game follows the same basic rules and sports the following controls:

  • Square - Play a card on your turn
  • Cross - Slap the pile
  • Start - Quit the game
Since this is only the first release, emericaska8r plans to add a number of other features to Egyptian Ratscrew, including slapping variations ("which you may turn on/off in an options menu"), different difficulty levels that can be set at the options menu, background music, and slapping sounds and animations. The dev is open to suggestions so if you think up things that would be great in this game, feel free to visit emericaska8r at the QJ PSP Development Forums by clicking the link below.

As always, browse through the readme file for the rules and other useful info on Egyptian Ratscrew. Enjoy!

SuperMarioBros.Portable v1.0 now has mushrooms - Image 1Homebrew developer emericaska8r announced his return to the PSP development scene by releasing SuperMarioBros.Portable v1.0. The first version of the game was released back in January of 2007. Just like the name implies, it is a clone of the much-loved video game Super Mario Bros.

Original sprites and imagesin SuperMarioBros.Portable v1.0. Anyway, a lot have changed since the first release so you might want to update your version. Probably the most obvious of these changes is the use of original sprites and images.

Changelog
  • Now use original sprites and images (no paint).
  • Added Super Mario (Mario + mushroom).
  • Longer level, still efficient.
  • Added enemies.
  • Basically everything.
To Do
  • Add more levels
  • When getting hit as big Mario, just shrink, not die.
  • Many other minor things, and whatever you all would like to see!
As you've read, emericaskat8r would love to hear your suggestions. So kindly give SuperMarioBros.Portable v1.0 a try and give your shout outs to the developer.
