An interesting statement from Team M33 was posted in their official website, and it's both good news and - err- rather off-putting news. First things first, the good news: Team M33 has finished PSP v3.71 CFW. The bad news is... we're going to be waiting for quite a while before they actually release it to the public. Hold on just a second! Let Team M33 explain themselves. We're sure it was a tough decision to make because it will undoubtedly disappoint a lot of people. In fact, the decision was voted upon - three against two. What's their decision? They're going to be taking a little break before they release anything else. Here's an excerpt of their official statement from the website: The main reasons for this decision are as follow: First, looking at how have things have come since we started our work, we now know how might have felt other developers when there are much other interests that don't benefit to the entire Scene. We all know what we are talking about, and we will make our best to eradicate all of this rotted side of the world in which we are nowadays, in the near future. Second, to teach a lesson. A mayor percentage of the PSP (and others) Scene(s) has to think about what it has come into since there are lots and lots of people that just want to steal money and attention when they don't even deserve it. This has existed since the beggining, and this is, clearly, to that hackers-wannabe that modify a couple of files and want to be acclaimed as a God-like. And third, to have fun looking at how all this lamers that steal codes don't know what to do when there is no binaries or sources to modify ;-) Ok, that last one was kidding a bit... but that doesn't mean that it's not right :-P We know, of course, that lots of psp webpages will full with insults and lame plots (we surf daily most of them), but this won't make change this decision, so here's a little advice: Don't waste your breath reinforcing what we have just said, and have patiente. Also, don't look for guilty ones, as you might have to look deeply into every one that have demanded without any right to be released something that will be free for all of the scene, as always. Also, it's interesting to say that you should buy the games you like, gaving support to the ones that you think that they have done a good job, as we are all developers, and all the ones that stay hours and hours in front of a pc screen have their rights to have a remuneration for what is, after all, their job. Yes, we know some of their statements sound pretty harsh, and we ourselves are getting all emo about it. These guys must be going through a lot right now. The above reasons for their going on a hiatus seem to echo a lot on their previous statement. And if we'd hazard a guess, this could also be a result of the whole DAX OE source code leakage drama. Keep your comments clean, guys. Respect the developers for all their effort and continuing support to the homebrew scene. Thanks to johnny nguyen for the tip! |

With a lot of good RPG titles headed for the PSP this year, it might be good to see what we have to be thankful for. No, this isn't some mushy mid-life (or post-puberty/Emo) reflection. What we had in mind was a look back at some titles on the other end of the spectrum, the sort that Pocket Gamer declares as "The Top 10 worst PSP games." For the moment, at least. As a teaser, here's what was said about the Dave Mirra BMX Challenge: It hasn't come out in Europe yet. Let's pray it doesn't. A game so poor that even the higher-marking US review sites have given it sub-4/10 scores, from what we've seen it is like a half-finished game somebody found lying around from five years ago that they put into a disc-shrinking box to get it on the PSP's UMD. (We haven't reviewed it yet. Fingers crossed we won't have to). Other titles mentioned included Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie, TalkMan, Taito Legends Power Up. Now, going back to the titled mentioned above, we doubt they were sourcing IGN - who were not as forgiving as the score above. If you guys have any title in mind that fits the bill for this particular "Top 10," do share. For the guys who want to view the full list, click on the read link. |

Tag this as off-topic. This is not news. This is however, something that may be a bit entertaining if you're a Tekken fan. Consider this the byproduct of beer, too much Tekken: Dark Resurrection for the PSP, and a VHS/betamax marathon with buddies.
In this post, this blogger will point out a few observations regarding some Tekken fighters. Particularly, with which real-life celebrity they might've been based on. Let's start with the obvious ones.
Yeah, most Tekken characters are inspired by pop-culture martial arts heroes and anime cliches. With characters like Law and Lei, the reference is pretty obvious, but with some other characters it isn't quite that immediate. For example, anyone remember Cynthia Rothrock? More on Cynthia, Arnie, B-Movie villains, and Connan O'Brien after the Jump! |

You've probably seen the trailer we featured earlier here at QJ about this highly-anticipated game. Sure, we like the graphics too, and the idea of building a theme park does sound like a dream job.
Then there's the music. We just picked up this video about this upcoming title, and while it had more gameplay vids, it focused on the game's diverse OST. Thrilleville's soundtrack was done by Lucas Art's in-house composer Jesse Harlin, and the game's Lead Audio (The dude in charge Sound FX and the like) David Collins. Jesse and Dave talked in this video more about some of the game's music, more so on its four original songs. The first song, titled Whiplash, is styled as 70s/80s rock, and is about one guy's love song to his favorite roller coaster. The second song mentioned is a Punk/Pop number titled "Emo Skater Girl", and is another love song about a nerdy guy's romance dilemma. The fourth song is a 70s funk song, and is titled "Dr. Kunkel's Funkel Cake", and was written about...Funnel cake? The last song they talk about is a Hip-hop/Jazz tune titled "Loop it!" Well, it's hard to talk about a song verbally, so we figured it'll be better for you audiophiles out there to just listen to the songs embedded in the vid, and let us know what you think, as we wait for the game's November 21 release date. Here's the video: Pre-Order: [Thrilleville for PSP] |
