I'm thankful for FFVII for introducing me to gaming! - Image 1Thanksgiving is the season where people can be thankful for all their blessings and hope that the next year will be as good as the one that preceded it. Since QJ is in the gaming business though, I've decided to note a couple of things that I'm thankful for, gaming-wise.

You probably have your own list of gaming-related things you're thankful for having, so feel free to note them on the comments. That being said though, here's a short list of things I'm thankful for, after the jump!

QuickJump QuickPeek 12 - Image 1

(Editor's Note: So how's your week been? It's been a rather busy week for everyone in the QuickJump community. Not only were there the usual big big BIG news cropping up when we least expected them in the gaming industry, but there have also been some major changes to this little slice of heaven we all call QJ.Net. We know some of you guys have been loyal readers since back in the heyday, and that's why we're pulling out all the stops in giving you guys a better time whenever you visit us here. You guys asked for it, and we finally got to make ends meet!)

It's QuickJump QuickPeek's 12th issue and we're zooming down the Internet highway at a momentum that could wet little Matty Lovo Jr.'s pants - BTW, props for finally scoring that PS3, Matty boy! Now while everyone else is already hitting the road for this coming week's Tokyo Game Show (starts on the 20th, all the way up to the 23rd), we've still got to recap what's been going on this week. Besides. Recent developments could actually be setting the stage for the TGS without our knowing. Is so-and-such about to bring out their big guns? Are issues between so-and-so about to be settled? Are sequels, remakes, and ports about to be revealed?

Now, before we start with all the Peeking, we'll have to sneak in some Site News that concerns everyone here in the QJ.Net community: Anonymous Commenting has now been banninated. Users are now encouraged to sign up and register - for free, mind you - in order to comment. Yep, it's been a long time coming indeed, and hey!, everyone's been giving some positive feedback on it too!

It's our goal to provide not only a source of 24/7 gaming news, but be a source of intelligent conversation as well. You all can be a smart and opinionated bunch and we want to encourage that sort of behavior, not stifle it. We're sure Captain Planet is feeling rather blue for having to go on a sudden exodus to banninator land, but it's all for the best!

What with more registered users flocking in, QJ veterans Mister Common Sense, Quixand, AoxomamoxoA, CHUCKINGROCKS, and MGSROCKS1 might have some competition cut out for them in bagging the Comment of the Week now! Who gets it in Issue 12? Sorry, no spoilers...

Previously, we've only seen the screenshots. Now, we have the video itself! Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII's infamous "Secret Ending" is indeed getting lots of attention lately, and still, more debates about what it means have been spreading like wildfire.

It did flash an intriguing "To be continued in Final Fantasy VII" tag in the end. So what does that mean? What's everyone saying? Well, everyone's got their own theories. Here's just some of them:
  • It's actual confirmation of an FFVII remake?
  • Square Enix just wants us to play FFVII again?
  • FFVII will hit the PlayStation Store soon?
  • It means nothing. Prequels would naturally have "to be continued" tags in the end.
We know the topic about an FF7 remake has been talked to death. Man, if we had a dollar for every single time... we'd have enough money to develop the darn remake. (Plus enough left-over budget for FFVIII and IX remakes too).

This post isn't about discussing the possibility of the remake though. The purpose of this post is, quite simply, to show you guys the video itself. This is what we're missing. The video looks all too much like the E3 2005 tech demo (which you can easily search in YouTube for), but if you look closer, some things have been changed... Check it out for yourself!

Major kudos to Cheska for the tip!

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII official website - Image 1

Now that Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is out in Japan, there's no reason to deprive western fans of delicious details as they hope for a release outside the land of the rising sun. To that effect, Square Enix just updated the official Crisis Core website with plenty of new videos and other character profiles.

The Characters section got buffed with new videos for Zack, Cissnei, and Tseng. Original FFVII characters Tifa and Yuffie finally have their own profiles, while Cloud and Aerith appear on new trailers. Crisis Core's Hollander, one of Hojo's many enemies, also gets his space.

You'll find a couple of new videos if you head over the System section, both showing off the game's Digital Mind Wave (DMW) mechanic. Some have seen DMW before - the combat feature which involves spinning reels that can put Zack in a Power Surge to perform crazy attacks. It's similar to Final Fantasy limit breaks.

We're sure that you want to check these things out yourself, so click on the Read link to find Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII's official website.

FFVII Anniversary - Image 1 FFVII Anniversary - Image 2

Square Enix recently held a celebration for the 10th anniversary of its monumental Final Fantasy VII series and there were a lot of sights to behold indeed. There was, however, one statement that stirred up our collective insights and it came from SCE President Kaz Hirai.

In a note to Square Enix, he wrote, "Congratulations on 10 fantastic years! The best is yet to come."

Was he talking about the upcoming Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII or perhaps a remake? We know that in the last Square Enix Party, fans were asked which game they wanted a remake of and FFVII was an overwhelming favorite. Is the statement meant to provoke our imaginations or is it a general statement? We'll find out soon enough.
