If you want to talk about versatile Software Development Kits (SDK) for the PSP
then you've probably come across Filippo Battaglia's (aka
Pegasus2000) Nanodesktop. The developer has recently released a new
demo program which supports the SQLLite library and is compatible with
both Nanodesktop and PSPE.Read more about this new demo released for Nanodesktop after the jump! Download: Nanodesktop SQLLite Demo 5 |

Developer Filippo Battaglia (Pegasus2000) has announced that Nanodesktop v0.3.2 is finished and ready for use. If you missed our previous coverage on this application, it is a Software Development Kit (SDK) which provides developers with a set of libraries that make it easier to code homebrew. This latest version of Nanodesktop implements most of the additions that Battaglia previously announced including the ndCurl and ndGCurl libraries which manage network connections and file transfers as well as the ndFlite vocal synthesis engine. In addition to this, coders will appreciate the new Media Application Program Interface (API) which allows the programmer to decode .WAV and MP3 files without using the main processor or external libraries. Here's a list of all the changes as taken from the documentation:

If you've been keeping tabs on Filippo Battaglia's Nanodesktop programming library on the PSP, we've got some good news coming in. pegasus2000 is releasing a proof-of-concept system that's expect to release with Nanodesktop 0.4, dubbed the Nanodesktop FLite Voice Synthetizer. Here's a short description for the application, according to pegasus2000:ndFLite uses VFPU to increase the speed of voice synthesis. It uses also Envelope Interface, a new API integrated in Nanodesktop 0.4 that ensures sound reproduction without glitches and MP3 reproduction with low use of CPU (Media Engine based). As a recap, nanodesktop provides users (specifically, homebrew coders) routines for graphics, loading/saving images, memory management, and mouse emulation. Take note that while this new Nanodesktop voice synthesizer is an interesting app to work with, it's still a test demo - pegasus2000 further notes that there might be bugs. We advise readers to be careful when they decide to make the download. We'll also let you guys know when Nanodesktop 0.4 gets released. Download: Nanodesktop FLite Voice Synthetizer demo |

Forum member pegasus2000 posted at the QJ PSP Development Forums that the new PSP version is now out, so both budding and experienced coders can take advantage of the robust routines and libraries that this program offers. The developer introduced quite a few new things that really simplifies the whole process as well as fix some of the rather troublesome but necessary functions such as Scanf and derived functions (which are very important!) Here's a list of changes (taken from the files documentation):
As always, you can discuss this homebrew on the QJ PSP Development Forums with the rest of the QJ community. Download: Nanodesktop v0.3 with Eyeserver support Visit: QJ.NET PSP Development Forums thread |

Developer Filippo Battaglia is responsible for providing the community with Nanodesktop, a useful application. In a nut shell, this program makes coding homebrew applications and games on PSPE (PSP Homebrew Emulator) for Windows a lot easier because it removes or hides many of the troublesome parts of the PSPE environment.
Anyway, QJ.NET Forums member pegasus2000 dropped by today and provided us with a video preview for the next build of Nanodesktop, which is version 0.3. The last version was released around four months ago, and it already sports a great many features and improvements. pegasus2000 added that Nanodesktop v0.3 will be released in a couple of days. In the meantime, you can learn about the next build by watching the video below. |

Filippo Battaglia has released version 0.2 of his library for Windows, Linux, and PSP - the Nanodesktop. Just to give you a bit of what's it all about, this app will easily let developers write homebrew for the PSP homebrew Emulator for Windows (PSPE) because it hides many of the hassling parts of programming in the PSPE environment.Aside from that this will also take care of the differences between C code for PSP3 homebrews and for PSP homebrew - ergo homebrew devs could write a program in C code and run it on PSPE. For more info on how to use this useful tool, check out the app's PDF manual that comes with the download. Anyhow, here's what's new with this release.
