Homebrew developer Gambiting entered his fun and simple shooter Shoot4Fun at the Neo Spring Coding Competition 07. A lot of improvements have been added to the version released a couple of weeks ago. The owner also said that this is going to be the last build for his game. There's no Readme file in the download package but the developer created a section dedicated for instructions so we're pretty sure you guys won't have problems while playing this game. The changes and features as provided by Gambiting:

Gambiting has come up with a Mandelbrot fractal generator for the Sony PlayStation Portable as an entry to this year's NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition. Aside from making cool Mandelbrot fractals, this app also comes with a zoom function. According to Gambiting, this app currently has the fastest rendering possible for for the PSP "unless someone use assembler programming or Xaos algorithm". It currently has three fractal sizes: full screen (480x272), medium (250x200) and small (120x100). The bigger fractal sizes require more rendering time. Users can also set the number of object checks per loop, with more checks resulting in more detail and longer rendering time. The default has been set to 100. At this setting, users can get 60x to 70x zoom with a rendering time of around 30 seconds. Gambiting has also set the maximum number of checks to 300 to keep the rendering times from getting too long. At this setting, users can reach as far as 500x zoom, but the rendering of a single zoom can take up to 5 minutes. Check out Gambiting's Mandelbrot fractal generator by clicking on the download link below. It's pretty cool, even if you have to wait awhile when you're at the higher settings. And, like Gambiting said, you can probably use it to impress your Math teacher. Download: Mandelbrot Fractal Generator |

Gambiting has released a nifty update for his NeoFlash competition entry, known as Shoot4Fun. In Shoot4Fun, you're basically playing as a little red block that shoots lasers at oncoming enemies, which are also made out of blocks. In the previous version of Shoot4Fun, there weren't really any victory or loss conditions since you couldn't actually die, but all that's changed for this update. Here's the changelog for the updated version of Shoot4Fun:

The NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition 2007 is well underway with great entries from the homebrew community. Developer Gambiting, who created PSPSnake, has thrown his hat into the ring with his homebrew Shoot4Fun. The game is reminiscent of Asteroids and is pretty fun to play despite the fact that the developer himself said that it is still a "work in progress." He mentioned that there are quite a few features such as an add-on system which is already working but "too lame at this stage of progress." Gambiting set out to create an easy to pick up-and-play game, and looks to be on the right track. So if you want to give it a try, go and download the program below. Download: Shoot4Fun |

Here's another entry for QJ and Liksang's Summer Coding Competition. PSPSnake is based on the old-school Snake game. You've probably played or come across it at least once in your life. To make things more interesting, developer Gambiting has added a few extra features to PSPSnake. There are three modes of play: Classic, Arcade, and Extreme. The gameplay in Classic mode is the same as the original Snake game. In Arcade, you can reduce the snake's length, plus you can use "snake motion" to slow its movements and escape difficult situations. Extreme mode plays almost the same as Classic mode, but this time you can't reduce the length of the snake PLUS the snake's length increases constantly. Click on the download link below to try this game out. Once all the entries for the Summer Coding Competition are released, we will also release a compilation of all the game entries along with instructions regarding the voting procedure.
