Sony's PlayStation Portable handheld - Image 1 If you can't wait for the all-star Nintendo cast of Super Smash Bros. Brawl to hit shelves this February, here's an interesting homebrew game starring two of Nintendo's top dogs - Mario and Link - entitled Super Mario Toy 0.3 for the PSP. The game is essentially an 2D platformer with a top-down RPG interface set in the familiar backdrop of the GameBoy Advance title The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.

Unofficial gpSP Kai v3.2 test 06 - Image 1Homebrew Developer Takka has announced that he has finished working on the gpSP Kai v3.2 test 06 which adds better support for TV Out support for PSP slims. While TV-out support was added in the last version, this polishes some of the interface niggles that users have reported.

For those who missed our previous coverage on this, this is the unofficial version of Exophase's Nintendo Gameboy Advance emulator for the Sony PSP. Takka's been doing some pretty good work on making further developments on this application and has added quite a few useful features ever since he started working on it.

Atlus features new splash art on the Yggdra Union website - Image 1Atlus certainly ended its long run on the GameBoy Advance with a bang, with its innovative strategy game for the handheld, Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone. Banking on that success, Atlus is looking for an encore when the game is set to be released on the PSP next January in Japan.

Much like other ported games, Yggdra Union will feature retouched graphics and fully voiced sequences during the battle scenes. All of the new features, as well as clips of the gameplay can be viewed at the official Yggdra Union website. While the site is in Japanese, the menu is still in English so navigating through it won't be too much of a problem.

Sting, the Japanese counterpart of Atlus responsible for the original release of the game, has updated the website, adding a new character and its respective voice actor on the Character page. However, most notable change would be the new splash page artwork featured on the homepage. The game's character designer, Satoko Kiyuzuki has reprised her role by adding new content for the website.

All in all, this game is shaping up to be better than ever. Hopefully, Sting will be able to fill up the missing pieces on the website with more updates in the following months. If you want to take a look at the new stuff on the website, feel free to click on the read link below.

Nintendo Gameboy Advance - Image 1PSP homebrew developer Takka recently updated the latest version of gpSP Kai to address a few issues that were in the last build. Unofficial gpSP Kai version 3.2 test 05 did a lot of changes to the source directory, added kernel mode-specific functions, supports full-screen TV output, and pitched in other improvements to the Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew emulator.

As a recap for those who are still unfamiliar with gpSP, this release by Takka is an unofficial version of the original Nintendo Gameboy Advance emulator for the Sony PSP made by homebrew developer Exophase. Takka's gpSP Kai is getting constant updates to improve the GBA experience on the Sony handheld.

This release offers significant changes that you'll probably recognize instantly after checking out the Readme file. The most notable new feature is support for the PSP Slim TV-out function. A post on Takka's blog shows some promising improvements to be added to gpSP Kai v3.2 test 06, so keep it here as we report more on this GBA emulator.

Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone first screenshots - Image 1

The first screenshots for Sting and Atlus' Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone have been released on the online website of Famitsu. Those who played the game on the GameBoy Advance will be pleased to know that the anime graphics have been retained as well as some of the more distinct gameplay elements like the Union formation system.

The screenshots show the Swordmaiden and some of the various characters in the game. It also shows a few screen caps of the opening movie which is three minutes longer than the GBA version. This turn-based strategy game is really looking pretty sweet and will probably please most of the fans of the original release.

Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone for the PSP will be available by January 24 next year. We'll have to wait and see if this title lives up to all the hype its been generating among strategy gamers.
