Gamecock Media Group - Image 1Independent works will always have a hard time finding its niche in an already established market, and video games are no exception. Usually the bottomline in creating a game is creativity versus profitability.

Steve Escalante, Business Development VP of the Gamecock Media Group, talked about this subject during the Texas' Independent Game Conference. Read more in the full article.

GameCock - Image 1

Gamecock Media Group - no puns or jokes, seriously, it's just way too easy - is now on the web with the launch of its official website, www.gamecocklove.com. The site sports a unique artistic style that's decidedly anti-mainstream, with trailers of their upcoming games (Fury, Insecticide, Hail to the Chimp, Mushroom Men and Dungeon Hero) a mere click away at the Contender Belt. Simply click on the title of the game you wish to have a sneak peek at, and you're good to go.

The website also has an extra section - The Worm Hole - that is slated to feature anything weird, funny, or just plain strange trawled from the underbelly of the Internet. Currently, the section's only featuring a small number of videos, but we're sure it won't be long for weirder, crazier stuff to pop out of the Worm Hole.

So if you're just curious, or if you're burning to see just what the media group that promises to bring creativity back into the games industry is up to, stop by and let the Gamecockery commence.

The game Mushroom Men: The Spore War for the Xbox 360, PSP, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, and the Wii is interesting to say the least. Developed by Red Fly Studios and produced by Gamecock media group, few details have been made known about the game aside from the storyline and a few tidbits.

After the passing of a comet, the fungi have been acting differently. Among the now sentient mushrooms, factions have formed, and war is raging between them.

You will play a brave Bolete Mushroom Man who has the power to transform common household items and trash into weapons of mass destruction. So far three classes have been revealed: the scout, the sage, and the heavy. No additional details have been revealed about the game.

Slated to be released Q2 of 2008, the jury is still out on this game. Check out the video and see if it catches your interest.

Mushroom Men - Image 1

Red Fly Studio is a dev group made up of incredibly artistic individuals, coming from projects like BloodRayne, SSX3, and Star Wars Galaxies. They've teamed up with Gamecock and created a game about fungi.

... Yup, that's our first reaction, too. Well, Mushroom Men is about the world of fungi. It will take players to the miniature world of the Mushroom Men, about three inches high. Players will take the role of a Bolete Mushroom Man, wielding household trinkets and trash into formidable weapons to fight in the spore factions. Little did we know that a war was raging - just under our noses. Or rather under roots and the general undergrowth.

Both Red Fly and Gamecock are enthusiastic about the game. Mike Wilson, CEO and head of marketing at Gamecock says, "Mushroom Men’s amazing art and one-of-kind design show what a studio can produce when not hindered by a sequel or a lame license." They expect to have the game out on a handheld and next gen platform by next year. For the meantime, you can check out this teaser video about warring fungi.

We talked about Insecticide about a couple of articles back as one of the first games in Gamecock's slate. Now we're gonna take a closer look.

Insecticide takes us to a world where bugs have become the dominant species. Well, uh... the setting is a festering city and a murder takes place at a powerful company. Enter detectives Chrys Liszt and Roachy Caruthers of the Insecticide Squad to solve the crime, rushing headlong into a web of crime (excuse the pun). The bug hunt is on through the city's grimy underbelly and we're taken along for the ride. This detective shooter action adventure game would be making an debut on the PSP, DS, and PC. Crackpot Entertainment (the developer) hopes to port it to film or television.

We'll fill you in on other info regarding Insecticide which is scheduled for release this coming holiday season. Meanwhile, enjoy this teaser vid of the game.

Fear the Gamecock - Image 1As pervy as this may sound to some, the truth is, we're really not being silly here. We're going to try to do our best to type this down despite some of us here being worried that we may get complaints related to political correctness.

Wideload Games, has recently announced that they picked Gamecock Media Group to publish their next title Hail to the Chimp, which is a self-proclaimed impossible-to-classify party game based on politics in the animal kingdom. The game is set to be released in spring 2008 for next gen consoles.

More stuff from Gamecock after the Jump!
