Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow was revealed during the recent Sony Gamers Day (SGD) 2007. If we may add, the revelation was rather done in a grand fashion as several videos were shown to the fans. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) better take care of this well because Syphon Filter has a very large fan base.
Anyway, here's another video for Logan's Shadow called Debris. The objective in this clip is quite simple but like all Syphon Filter games go, you will be met by a lot of opposition. The franchise's stealth gameplay trademark is still there as well as the main protagonist's devil-may-care attitude. Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow still has got a long way but these videos are already looking great. As always, more updates as they come. In the mean while, just watch the video below and learn about some of the game's weapons and in-game items. |

This here is another video interview from the creators of God of War: Chains of Olympus. Now, it seems like this interview was conducted in the same venue as the one immediately preceding this. But although this is from the same event - Sony Gamers Day - we still don't mind hearing some more stuff from the brains behind Chains of Olympus, right?
Anyhow, this one has Cory Barlog in it, doing a solo round for this interview. Here he talks about the storyline of God of War for the PlayStation Portable, and the brilliant creative team behind it. He talked about the transitions they had to go through, coming from the PlayStation 2 to the PSP, and the certain adjustments in technology that they used. Again, there's no denying that hint of pride in his face as he talks about his baby. As for us, we're just glad for all these updates on the game. At least we won't have to solve puzzles or go through some obstacle course just to get word on the action. |

PlayStation Universe reports that at Sony Gamers Day it was announced that over 1.5 million users have created accounts for the still growing PlayStation Network. It was noted that of the 1.5 million, 775,000 are people from North America. However, it wasn't made clear if these were for individual a PS3s, as some people could have multiple accounts for differing regions. It was also noted that an impressive 6 million pieces of content have been acquired from the PlayStation Store. Again, it wasn't provided what ratio of this was free content or paid content. Lastly, 1.5 million users have logged in a total of 115 million times. This means that there's an average of 77 log-ins per PS3 owner. That means that there's either a lot of people on Resistance: Fall of Man multiplayer, or a lot of people really like flOw. We'd like to include the noted 6 month comparison with Xbox Live, but that's just flame-bait. Anyhow, with numbers like these, and the promise of Home come fall, and more big multiplayer only games like WarHawk and small casual shooters like Bacterius, things look good for the network. Oh, and two reasons why this is included in PSP: 1st you can can PS1 games for your PSP on the PSN, and 2nd, we all hope PSN incorporates the PSP more, don't we? |

Jeanne d'Arc, a promising tactical game developed by Level 5, was already received warmly by Japan since its November 22 release. Unfortunately, it got neglected during Sony's Gamers Day no thanks to Uncharted: Drake's Legend and Heavenly Sword. Siliconera reports that the Jeanne d'Arc demo stations received little to no attention while other titles in the PSP booth got all the glory. It's a bit surprising that something from established JRPG developer Level 5 would be ignored, but reports say that the game is all good. Jeanne can move around a detailed topography, walking down the streets to find ladders and climb roofs. There are plenty of tactics you can use too, like moving in formation to gain bonuses from each other. Even if the demo was easy enough with overpowered characters at hand, it looks like not much visitors had enough attention span to try out a tactical game. Afterall, games like this kinda take a lot of time... The game is expected to reach US and Canada in August, while there's no info about a European release as of now. Hopefully, people from the west can give this title a shot. |

While Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) exec Jack Tretton talked about PSP Store (or whatever they will call the service) during Gamers Day, another SCEA exec, this time Marketing VP Peter Dille, talks about the same service. In the movies, TV, and music content department, the PSP has a lot more room to grow, and Dille admits it's high time that it did grow:The missing ingredient for us has been making it easier for consumers to get video content or music content to the PSP, because the device has this awesome technical playback capability, awesome screen built for video and yet we don’t make it terribly easy for people to access any content. So we’re looking to fix that. So what are the plans for the PSP Store (tentative name we're assigning)? GameInformer asked him during Gamers Day if it will involve the PSP's Wi-Fi capabilities or require the PS3 for cross-downloading? Peter can announce no details, but he says "I think both paths are open to us." Dille also foresees this rolling out later this year. When questioned about that new PSP model, Dille held up his hands. "Sony’s a technology company so there are lots of people out there wondering what we’ll do next. But as a rule, we don’t comment on rumors or speculation." What he could say, though, is Sony's confidence in the PSP - as a format, and not just as the SKU. As well as the many games coming for the machine in the foreseeable future, Dille believes that the downloadable entertainment media service is what will "energize the market." |

Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian claims that Sony is indeed working on a revamped PSP as the company implied during Sony's Gamers Day, or so Sebastian claims. This could mean any upgrade or additional features could be in the works. But as he puts it, a "hardware refresh... may or may not mean a change in form". Since the PlayStation got PSOne, and PlayStation 2 got its PS2 Slim version, it's not very surprising that Sony would dish out something like that for the PSP too. Sebastian couldn't cite any specific sources, but he said "I can tell you from industry people I've talked to that [Sony] definitely has something in the works." Will they turn the PSP into a mobile phone ala N-gage (well, we hope not...)? Or do something about its battery life? Make the controls more intuitive? It's pretty difficult to imagine that they'd reduce its size, but given Sony's history with the consoles, it's feasible. Any educational guesses? |

The PS3 continues to build up steam, with Sony reportedly planning to release 90 third-party titles and 15 exclusives from first and third parties for the PS3 this year. This according to a Sony Gamers Day recap from Lazard Capital Markets.Fans of Sony's PSP handheld system will be getting some much-needed love too. According to Lazard games industry analyst Colin Sebastian, "[Sony] also indicated that 140 titles would launch on the PSP, while a video download service and hardware refresh are expected later this year." Rumors about a hardware refresh have been floating around the Internet for quite some time now, and just recently the rumor has resurfaced once again. |

It's Sony Gamers Day once more and quite expectedly we've been seeing loads of videos for several PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game titles. Earlier today, we shared with you Lair's Bloodbath gameplay video and another one for PlayStation Network (PSN) game Pain. This time, we'd like to give you something for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) platform.
The teaser trailer video below is actually for Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, the second installment to the Pursuit Force franchise. In this game, players take on the role of a peacekeeper and try to keep Capital City from the grips of lawless gangs like The Raiders and The Syndicate. Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice will also be available on the PlayStation 2 (PS2) and will be released some time this Summer. The video was actually pre-rendered but in-game assets were used. |

During their Spring Gamers Day at San Diego, Sony Computer Entertainment America mentioned the eventual existence of an online store for the PSP. Shacknews reports that SCEA president Jack Tretton admitted the service should've existed a long time ago. Jack Tretton said, "I think the advent of a long awaited and quite frankly long overdue ability to deliver a downloadable service for the PSP will help us out a great deal... Hopefully we'll have it out there by the fall." It can be recalled that Sony has a whole lot of other projects that have a planned fall release - hey, just look at PlayStation Home. It seems that they're really considering the fall to winter time-frame as a crucial window for their game related products. Anyhow, what's your take on a potential PSP Store? What features do you think Sony should include in there? Let us know in the comments area. |
