GDC 09 - Image 1The nominations are in, the tallying's over, and the GDC 09 Developers' Choice Awards have come and gone. The big winners this year were Fallout 3, which got the Game of the Year award, and LittleBigPlanet, which won in 4 different categories. The tail-end of the awards ceremony even had a little surprise in the form of a trailer for one of the most highly-anticipated sequels in recent years. Details after the jump!

GDC 09 - Image 1More hot PlayStation news from GDC. This time, we turn to Jon Webb of the SCEA Developer Support Group, who spoke at GDC 09 about the PlayStation Network's past, present, and future. One of the things Webb mentioned is that the PSN sub-sign in feature already integrated in LittleBigPlanet will also be included in "a couple of high profile games". More after the jump.

GDC: ngmoco's Young: iPhone 'Better Than DS, Better Than PSP' - Image 1 Mudslinging between Sony and Microsoft seems to be playing second fiddle these days to mudslinging between the PSP and the iPhone. The war between the two devices continues on during GDC, where ngmoco's co-founder Neil Young says that Apple's brainchild is "better than the DS, better than the PSP." Oh look he took a hit at Nintendo too. Pretty bold for the leader of a relatively new games company.

David Perry: PSP2 will not have UMD drive - Image 1 Is the UMD finally dead? That's what Shiny Entertainment founder David Perry suggests, saying that Sony finally "removed the stupid battery-sucking UMD disc drive" in the PSP2.

*UPDATE* David Perry says the PSP2 is real. Believe, or else a PSP angel will lose its wings.

PSP-4000 has sliding screen, is complete aesthetic overhaul - Image 1Rumors that just don't want to die usually have some truth to it. And this rumor has been around for ages. VG247 reports that the PSP-4000 is real, and that it will have a "complete aesthetic overhaul," according to their source. The biggest change? A sliding screen, a la Sony Mylo.

More wishing after the link.

Metal Gear Solid Creator Kojima To Keynote GDC 2009 - Image 1Living legend of video gaming Hideo Kojima has agreed to deliver a keynote address at the 2009 Game Developers Conference. Hopefully he'll be able to inspire a new generation of video game devs to keep pushing video game development, the way he always did.

Dammit I have to stop sounding like fanboy when I talk about Kojima.

Paris Hilton - Image 1What HIlton wants, Hilton gets. Not necessarily Paris Hilton, but the Hilton Hotels Corporation sure wants in on the gaming scene too - and what better venue to show off your work than in the upcoming GDC in March, yeah? They're going to show off their PSP game to the public!

thumb - Image 1This is a category that's especially close to my heart, kudos to those who dared to risk all, who colored outside the lines and put the extra thinkin' effort into giving us something fresh.

Once again, a lot of our editors agreed on one very special title... Unreal Tournament III... just kidding!

Austin Game Developers Conference 08 - Image 1Leipzig's over and the Tokyo Game Show won't be till October. But that doesn't mean there won't be any other conferences around to satisfy ever-curious gamers' appetites. And this time, we won't even have to fly overseas. The Austin Game Developers Conferences is coming up next, and they've added in a nice touch to this year's event.
