PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1Despite Sony's efforts to keep homebrew out of their PSP handheld, the homebrew community is still going strong. This week saw news of Sony-instigated blockages, which will hopefully be circumvented by the newly-announced (and not yet released) new CFW update from the GEN team. All the big updates in the PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior after the jump.

PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1Usually, when a comparatively major firmware update gets released, the first thing the homebrew community does is scrutinize the changelog. Not just the one officially posted but also the things that Sony doesn't mention. Then, it's usually decrypted pretty rapidly by one group or another. Finally, someone posts a YouTube video showing what is allegedly a working CFW version of the official update.

Things didn't go any different with OFW 6.00.

PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1Damn, after all these years I still haven't gotten over my seething hatred for the dog in Duck Hunt and that annoying little smirk of his. Anyway, the past seven days proved to be a very lean time for the PSP blog's homebrew section. While the emulation scene got some action thanks to updates to some of the more popular emulators out there, the applications side of things didn't fare so well. Hopefully this doesn't hold true for next week as well. Read on for the rest of the PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior.

PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1The Japan-only PSP title Evangelion: Jo made waves this week not because of its gameplay or anything, but because of a new anti-CFW feature built into it. It's not exactly new since there have been other PSP games that implemented CFW checks before, but it does drive home the point that developers are taking it into their own hands to keep PSP piracy at bay. Not sure how long the protection on the game will last though. The homebrew scene generally gets fired up even more when stuff like this comes out. Read on for a recap of the week in homebrew.
