PSP Weekend Warrior - Image 1It's the week after E3 2009 and we received more updates on the stuff that were announced during the yearly gaming expo. First up is the new PSP Go, which generated a bit of controversy over Sony's decision to slap a US$ 250 price tag on it. We also heard more about the games presented during E3. A new firmware update that "improves system stability" also went live this week, just ahead of another custom firmware release from the PSP homebrew community. Read on for the rest of the PSP Weekend Warrior.

PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1The PSP homebrew scene kept chugging along in the background while E3 2009 took the spotlight, but right towards the end of the week the scene got an adrenaline shot right in the arm with the release of custom firmware 5.03GEN-A for HEN. With this release, PSP-3000 owners finally get a CFW made for their handhelds. The 2000 owners weren't left in the lurch, as the CFW also works on PSP-2000s. That's just the tip of the homebrew iceberg, though. Read on for the rest of this week's PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior.

Bush Shooter - Image 1This game may not boast the most elaborate code in the homebrew community, but if you've got a bone to pick with former president George W. Bush or simply want to mess around, the craziness1's Bush Shooter 2008 ought to be worth a few laughs.

StrmnNrmn Daedalus PSP - Image 1While most of the coders out there work within the same circles, one of them seems to be standing on the outside, causing his own storm of sorts. External from most of the drama, StrmnNrmn is happily living in his own world, giving us one of the greatest homebrew emulator projects for the PSP: the Nintendo 64 emulator, Deadalus PSP. As a tribute to Daedalus' third year anniversary this month, here's your QuickGuide for reminiscing (or catching up!) on the life and times of StrmnNrmn so far. Strap into your seats, we're heading into the eye of the storm!

Team Noobz - Image 1Keeping tabs on our Who's Who QuickGuides? Let's see now - we've had the life and times of Dark AleX, the AhMazing AhMan, the silent but deadly MaTiAz, the free radical FreePlay, and the scene prodigy Davee. Now let's point the spotlight to one of the scene's most high-profile collection of superdevs. With their countless contributions to the grateful homebrew community and an unhappy Sony, it's only fitting that we pay tribute to "homebrew without a clue" - the great irony known as Team Noobz.

FreePlay - Image 1The homebrew community sure has a lot of memorable icons, each one of them quirkier than the next. Enter FreePlay. Yes, I'm sure you've heard of him - what with talks of the PSP-3000 exploit pervading the air recently, FreePlay's name has been thrown around a lot these days. So, following last week's Who's Who QuickGuide on MaTiAz, we now venture into the GripShift exploit's other half. How well do you know this free radical, anyway? His influence in the homebrew community runs deeper than you think!

GripShift Exploit - Image 1The PSP homebrew community found a ray of hope for the PSP-3000 at the start of the new year when MaTiAz found a critical exploit in the old PSP title by Sidhe Interactive, GripShift. This paved the way for users to run homebrew on the unhacked PSP model despite the lack of custom firmware. Here's QuickJump QuickGuide Issue #6 - say hello to the Gripshift exploit.

Dark AleX - Image 1So you've seen the tutorials, you've read the basics... We'll make a side trip from all the technical (but noob-friendly) mumbo-jumbo, and slow down for a bit of a feature. Let's sneak into a topic that's a tad bit closer to our hearts: a "who's who" QuickGuide on one of the PSP homebrew scene's most celebrated developers. We know that he hardly needs any introduction, but are you sure you know him well enough? Join us as we take a look back at the life and times (so far!) of Dark AleX...

Legal Downloading Of Non-Sony Classics To PSP - Image 1While the PSP homebrew community's been enjoying emulators since... ever... Sony is only just wising up to the idea that there are old fogeys out there who want to play retro games on the PSP. According to John Koller, the table is open right now for even non-Sony games to appear as downloads on the PSN.

Details after the link.
