Here's a piece of good news to the PSP homebrew community. Early last month, as some of you may recall, FreePlay has released a video showing us that he has successfully hacked Sony's latest handheld iteration that got everyone buzzing with excitement. Well, now he's back to give us a status update on his project. According to his YouTube channel post, he is now making progress on the exploit with his NID resolver working flawlessly, and if he can get the eLoader source to work, we may have a PSP Go eLoader soon that will allow us to run our favorite homebrews on the PSP Go.

Even more good news for the PSP homebrew community! Homebrew developer Yoshihiro has released a patch of Ahman's iR Shell v5.0 for all CFW 5.50GEN-B2 users. If you may recall, the latest version of iR Shell includes the uber cool advance multi-tasking feature.

Heads up to the PSP homebrew community! Homebrew developer Yoshihiro is back to release a new update for his homebrew saving utility, Games Decrypter. The latest update fixes the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 bug brought about by the previous release and now, almost all games that requires the OFW 5.55 can be patched using custom firmware 5.50GEN-B2.

PSP homebrew community rejoice! Homebrew developer Yoshihiro has finally released his highly anticipated Game Decrypter for the PSP. This homebrew tool will allow you to run your backup games that requires the OFW 5.55 to work properly on custom firmwares 5.03GEN and 5.50GEN.

Last week's announcement of a new CFW in the works was marred by cries of shenanigans from the homebrew community. We already touched on that a bit in the previous edition of the PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior, but the issue didn't stop there. More bad news for PSP custom firmware users. Apparently, the upcoming Gran Turismo PSP will require you to have the latest firmware 6.00 installed before playing the game. More after the break.

So official firmware 6.00 is here. As with every OFW release, there's bound to be speculation about what steps the homebrew community would counter the new protections it puts into place, and who do we all turn to but Dark AleX? Those hoping for a 6.00 M33 release will likely end up waiting in vain, however.

The Dark-AleX.org forum is the home of Dark AleX's great homebrew releases, a place for various developers to chat and exchange ideas and a great reference for the homebrew community.

While official firmware 5.55 is presenting concerns for the PSP homebrew community, retailers are likewise being wary of the upcoming PSP Go. This week, more retailers from the UK expressed their doubts about the Go's download-only model as well as the handheld's rumored high price tag. We also heard from Dissidia producer Takeshi Arakawa who said "cultural differences" led to some of the changes in the game, most notably the tutorial length.
