This week they finally got their wish. Those holding out for a lower price point for the PSP Go, however... well, I'll just advise you not to hold your breath for it as Sony is showing no sign of backing down on this one. At least the launch titles are looking pretty good, along with the possibility of indie apps and maybe games. Read on for the rest of the PSP Weekend Warrior!

Garou Densetsu - Image 1Armchair pugilists take notice - Sony's just unleashed a torrent of retro SNK fighting game joy onto PlayStation Store Japan, as well as a handful of unforgettable classics from legendary developers such as Idea Factory and Atlus.

Earn the title that's still being coveted to this very day with King of Fighters '97. Let your trusty blade do all the talking for you in Samurai Spirits: Kenkaku Yubinan Pack (never released outside the US, and available for ¥600 - or US$6).

Ask your opponent if he's okay, and then SLAM your fist into his face with Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special: Dominated Mind. And finally, get into some smoothly-animated, crazy-fighting action with the original Guilty Gear.

Certainly good news for us token junkies itching to finally get some sweet arcade fighting joy on the road - and also on our couches, with downloaded PS1 titles fully compatible with the PlayStation 3. Retro addicts should also know that Sony went ahead and updated a bunch of PS1 games they previously released for download to work on the next-gen console, so everybody wins.

Let's hope Sony doesn't let up on the retro goodness. In the meantime, here's the complete list of the new titles out this week for your reading pleasure.
  • Guilty Gear
  • King of Fighters ‘95
  • King of Fighters ‘96
  • King of Fighters ‘97

Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos - Image 1

Since the announcement of Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos for the PSP, it's now starting to pick up the pace. Now we have a battalion of screens.

Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos is actually a sequel from the Idea Factory and NIS America. This new title addresses some of the player woes from the previous game, such as long loading times for cutscenes and stages. The storyline is divided into three, along with the worlds: divine, upper, and lower. There are three main characters from each of the different worlds. Anyway, the screenshots feature some characters and of course, in-game action.

Hopefully, Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos will sport some tutorials and engaging gameplay - some players point them out as the things that turned them off from the first game. Anyway, you can check out the screenshots and tell us what you think.

Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos - Image 1

Pop quiz: Quick, tell us what NIS America is known for? If you answered grid-based Strategy RPGs, with the fervor of a grade-grubbing 10 year-old girl, then you're probably a fan and you fully understand why the screenshot of Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos above slightly resembles Disgaea.

The game is said to focus on reduced loading times compared to previous SRPG PSP titles, so you'll be able to spend more time playing and thinking up your next move, and less time waiting for the stage or cut-scene to load.

Story-wise Aedis Eclipse is divided into three worlds: divine, upper, and lower. Each world will have its own main character, and and its own campaign. The difficulty setting of the game will depend on which world you begin on. Starting on the divine world should give you the hardest setting.

This latest installment in the Generation of Chaos series for the PSP is developed by Idea Factory. The NIS-published game is said to be available to you grid-loving PlayStation Portable owners come April this year.
