Headplay is probably every couch potato's dream. Imagine a TV. Now imagine being able to take it anywhere and everywhere you go (except perhaps in the shower), and being able to watch movies or play games on it anytime you want. That's the concept for the new "Personal Cinema System" device, Headplay. Headplay is a head-mounted device; basically, a TV you wear on your head. You can connect it to your gaming consoles, your DVD Player, your iPod, your PC, and maybe your Betamax player if it hasn't choked on dust yet. If it has a video out function, Headplay can most probably display it. You can also plug in a memory stick and Headplay can run the media files - movies, videos, and images - with its own built-in player. Once you're behind the lenses of Headplay it's pretty easy to just relax and go dead to the world around you. It's nothing but you and the screen, with the stereo sounds blocking off everything else. It's like your own movie screen inside your living room. To read the complete review of Headplay - what it is, what it does, how it plays on Microsoft's Xbox 360, Sony's PlayStation 3, and Nintendo' Wii on it - click on the link for the full article. |

Quake, a PSP homebrew coder, has released a new version of his Windows application Extreme Link. And for this release, version 1.5.3, the dev tweaked with a number of things, aside from the cosmetic changes. If you aren't familiar with Extreme Link, it's a Windows application that allows for easy access and control over things like game saves, homebrew, and the other stuff in the memory card. Anyway, check out the changelog for version 1.5.3:

Here's some more homebrew goodness from zx-81, who has just released a new version of PSP-PDA, Rob_psp's PDA applications for the Sony PSP handheld system. This bumps PSP-PDA up to version 1.3.1. Okay, first of all, Rob_psp's PSP-PDA homebrew set is a collection of PDA programs that have been coded to run on the PSP. It includes notepad, a music player, an image viewer, an address book, a calendar, a calculator, and a clock. As for what zx-81 has added to PSP-PDA, here's a list of what's new:

How's your French, guys? We'll be introducing PSP homebrew developer Gamer218's work today, which has been dubbed Go-PSP. This application is a web portal for your PSP, and comes equipped with several functions, ranging from games, an image viewer, and a web browser:
On a last note, accessing this application is done so by activating your PSP's internet browser, and keying in Go-PSP's address. That's all the info we've got at the moment, although more might be available at the source link below. Download: Go-PSP Advanced Edition |

Devs 2.6,CRACKED, PSP-KID and Rikardo_92 from Desire-Network.com have released PSPHustlazShell v0.1, a shell with a music player. It includes UMD loading, Music Playing (MP3 only), Image Viewing (JPG and PNG only), EBOOT Loading, USB, and Battery Information. Here's how to use it: 1. To load other EBOOT homebrew: Put homebrew.txt in ms0: and change the contents of the file to the directory/eboot you want loaded. 2. To load MP3's: Put Hustlaz_MP3.txt in ms0: and change the contents of the file to the mp3 you want loaded (Songs, Directories cant have spaces) The devs have also kindly provided us with the changelog from the last version: v0.1 1. Cant use home to exit -> press L+R+Start to exit 2. Image viewer works but is kinda screwy, cant return to the shell once loaded 3. Music player works but circles are left at the end of the lines, and you cant return to the main shell at the moment The Music Player was released as a separate eboot but the images from the HustlazShell are still needed. Future plans for PSPHustlaz? The devs say that they plan to fix all bugs, (maybe) put in video support, add OGG support, and BMP/TGA support for image viewer. Download: [PSPHustlazShell v0.1] |

If you head over to PSPChina, you'll find a post for eBook reader: eReader v1.59. We have written about eReader v1.4, and that's a good place to start if you want to know how to use this program and navigate through it. Basically, the eReader by Aeolusc is an eBook reader program for your PSP. It lets you read simple text files, but more importantly, it lets you read HTML files, display images, and play MP3s. You can also download fonts in different sizes so you can choose one that's easy to read.
We'll update this as soon as we get more info. Meanwhile, if anybody out there knows more about it, then you can help out the rest of the non-Chinese-reading PSP community by telling us more about it. Also, we'd like to welcome the PSP newbies who got PSPs for Christmas: Check out the FAQs, Guides, and Tutorials at our forums. You might look at Guides: General PSP for general PSP stuff (like figuring out the version of "firmware" you have in your PSP), and then you can jump into homebrew by reading the threads in the Guides: Hacks, Homebrew and Emulators forum. Recommended reading includes the ULTIMATE Homebrew Guide and the The Ultimate QJ Guide. Update: Tom sent in a very helpful translation of the original eReader post and of the readme. He provided info on what the newest features of eReader v1.59 Xmas Version (Ebook and Image Viewer) are, including info on the controls. There's also a very long and extremely important tutorial in this translation. So for those who want to use this updated app ASAP, click on Full Article. |
