mIRC-PSP v2.0 - with ISO compressor, Query Blocker, Theme Creator - Image 1After translating the official theme creator to German language, homebrew developer Lektor came up with a new mIRC script for the Playstation Portable. Even though this is the first time we're going to cover this, the release has just brought the program up to version 2.0.

Called mIRC-PSP, Lektor said that the script comes with an RSS feed for some of the most known websites dedicated to the Sony handheld like QJ.NET's PSPUpdates. Aside from that, the script also provides users with applications like Query Blocker and a German version of the said theme creator.

Aside from the already mentioned, links to several PSP-dedicated IRC channels were also provided. mIRC-PSP v2.0 comes with an Info.txt file containing useful details about the program. It was written in German so for our English readers, take the time to translate it to avoid causing problems to your Sony handheld.

PSPIRC by zx-81 - Image 1 PSP homebrew developer zx-81 has just released a new version of PSPIRC. This spanking new version, 1.0.5, is bringing a couple of changes to the said application, both for support and aesthetics.

In case you haven't the slightest idea what PSPIRC is, it's basically a chat client for the PSP. It sports a virtual keyboard, IR keyboard support, courtesy of Harald Fielker's work, and works both for firmware 1.5 and 3.40-OE. Anyway, here are the changes for version 1.0.5:

  • Support iso-8859-1 characters in IRC console for West European languages (characters such as à, é, è ... are now printed properly instead of a white space)
  • Bug fix in console display
We did say PSPIRC version 1.0.5 only has a couple of changes right? At any rate, check out the downloads below. And remember to go over the Readme files bundled with the downloads for important information regarding the application.

PSPIRC v1.0.1: IRC Client for PSP - Image 1

Homebrew developer zx-81 dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development forum a while ago and release a new application called PSPIRC. Just like the name suggests, this program is a basic Internet Relay Chat client for the Sony PlayStation Portable. It was based from Danzel's IRC engine and zx-81's very own PSPSSH.

Furthermore, the IR keyboard support of the client was based on the work of another coder Harald Fielker. The keyboard support was tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard. This is just the first public release of PSPIRC v1.0.1 and here are its current features:
  • IR keyboard support
  • Danzeff virtual keyboard for all text input
  • Profiles to store Login/IRC servers data
  • Save log files
  • etc...
The download package below includes separate builds for PSP FW 1.5 as well as CFW 3.xx OE. A source code has also been included for those who want to improve the program. Take note that both builds come with a Readme file which include pertinent information and installation guidelines.
