OK, so here it is guys. French site PSPGen together with their developer code named GENyUS has finally released the much awaited Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A yesterday for PSP fat and slim users (with TA-088 v1 and v2) users. This new CFW supports all the functions of the official firmware 5.50 with Pops and ISO support. Today they have also released build 4 of CFW 5.50GEN-A to fix the PSN network bug issue. Read more.

Homebrew history was made this week when Davee and Team Typhoon finally released ChickHEN, finally breaching the PSP-3000's defenses and injecting homebrew into the lives of PSP-2000 owners whose units are equipped with the previously unhackable TA-088v3 motherboard. So we finally got the R2 version of Team Typhoon's ChicHEN exploit, and yes, homebrew is now most definitely enabled. Wondering what Dark AleX has planned? Or not planned, rather. Well, this doesn't come from DAX himself, but here's something close enough: webmaster Alek gives us updates on the ChickHEN exploit and clues us in on Team M33's plans.

It's been awhile since we heard from Cobra77380 but now he's back with the rest of vErTeam with a new update for IvEr PSP. The new update brings the version to 5.00 and adds more applications which were originally abandoned from the previous version like a larger clock and a new calculator.

Homebrew developers of Team VGT tipped us of their new homebrew app for the PSP. MaxFlasher is a handy homebrew application that lets you backup particular content of your flash and even free up some space in your flash0.

The addition of classic PlayStation games to the PlayStation Store was a smart move. Not totally unexpected, but smart. There are still a lot of gamers out there who grew up on Sony's first gaming console and are itching to try their hand again on the games they grew up with. The problem is, the number of PS1 classics on the PlayStation Store is still depressingly low. If you still have your old PS1 game disc, though, you won't have to wait for your favorite games to show up on the PlayStation Store. All you need is a PSP.

There might be a lot of things that screwed up for Windows Vista, but you gotta admit, the OS is purrty. PSP homebrew developer fou2psp seems to think so too, hence this Vista-themed shell, which also comes with a PSOne emulator. Developer notes coming after the jump.

After what he admits as "the worst release of Ultimate VSH Menu," Total_Noob is back with an update for Ultimate VSH Menu. This new v1.07 seeks to mend that with one big bulk of a changelog. This version is now completely bug free and adds compatibility with a lot more of those useful plugins (e.g. game categories and cxmb!).
