Jackass Producer Aaron Rigby interviews himself - Image 1 Jackass Producer Aaron Rigby interviews himself - Image 2

Jackass: The Game
(PSP, DS, PS2) sure is as weird and as fun as the TV show. And if you thought it's not going to get any weirder, then you are dead wrong. The producer of the video game title, Aaron Rigby, recently came up with interview questions regarding the game for... himself.

Now, that's something different but don't let the eccentricity put you off as the questions as well as the answers provided are quite informative. According to Rigby, the concept for the game was born because of the original series and they aimed to come up with stunts as crazy and as creative as the ones in the show.

The producer then mentioned that both the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 versions will have multiplayer elements. The handheld build, needless to say, will utilize the WiFi features for the said mode. Rigby then went on and talked about editing and exporting replays for Jackass on PSP:

Basically, you play a stunt, save the replay, head over to Director mode and edits things like length, camera angels, add slo-mo, then export the stunt to your memory stick. Once it's exported, you can upload the stunt too and show off your mad skills.

Lastly, Aaron Rigby asked Aaron Rigby (that really is weird) whether he thinks the game is going to be a success or not. According to him, the whole Jackass experience is different from all the others because it is not based on accomplishing goals but on having fun. He explained:

Jackass doesn't work like that. The stunts in the show were just as good whether they accomplished what they set out to do or failed completely. That means that our goals in a stunt had to make sure that an entertaining failure worked just as well as a resounding success.

Jackass: The Game - Image 1A few more details for the PSP version of Sidhe Interactive and Empire Interactive's Jackass: The Game have surfaced via a recent press release from Red Mile Entertainment and MTV Games.

The game features quite a lot of cool stuff: more than 35 scenarios, detailed ragdoll modelling, dynamic physics and a detailed in-game injury system that keeps track of the amount of punishment players inflict upon the game's characters.

The PSP version will also feature unlockable footage from the Jackass TV series. There's also a replay engine that will allow players to save and edit their very own Jackass moments. These replays and clips can then be shared with other players through the PSP's wireless connection feature.

Since this is from a press release (which are known for being riddled with quotes and the like), let's end this post with a quote from Johnny Knoxville:

For years on Jackass, we stressed 'do not try the stunts we do at home'. But with our new Jackass video game, you can now try our stunts at home ... but only while playing the video game -- you little juvenile delinquents!

Jackass: The Game is currently slated for a September 24 release.

Empire Interactive picks up Jackass: The Game - Image 1Back in November 2006, we informed you that video game developer Sidhe Interactive is bringing MTV's popular show Jackass to the PlayStation Portable (PSP) platform in the form of Jackass: The Game.

Since then, nothing's been heard about the game... until today. Empire Interactive just announced that it will be taking care of the game's publishing reins. If we are not mistaken, this is actually one of the few major announcements from Empire ever since it acquired technology firm Silverstar late last year.

Aside from the PSP version, Jackass: The Game will also be appearing on the PlayStation (PS2) platform and other versions will also be announced in the coming weeks. Furthermore, the PSP and PS2 versions of the title will be released this coming September as a full game.

This will coincide with MTV Europe's promotional events and materials (Jackass DVD) for the TV show. Empire CEO Ian Higgins commented,

We're really pleased with the deal. It shows that we're very much back in business. The genesis of the deal was two of our new directors, Joe Abrams and Geoff Heath, talking to the U.S. publisher and developer. We got involved from here by putting a string marketing campaign together for them.

Speaking of which, Empire Interactive is really going all-out for Jackass: The Game as a multimedia marketing campaign is being planned. Higgins added that he believes that this is their biggest title for some time in Europe and that, Jackass: The Game, has the potential to top the charts.

Jackass

Johnny Knoxville and the gang are set to make a ruckus over at your PSP. Being developed by Sidhe Interactive, Jackass: The Game will feature Online Play via Infrastructure Mode, Game Share Multiplayer, as well as Downloadable Content.

From whatever little info is known about this game, what is certain is that it will be just as wacky and crazy as the TV series. We may also very well expect it to have a Mature rating from the ESRB given that their pranks are not exactly what you'd say wholesome, or for the family.

Anyway, this game's good for as much as up to four players, so we're sure you're gonna enjoy catching your peers with their pants down in this game. It's set to be out both in Europe and Australia by December 31 of next year. No date is set as of yet for the U.S. release.

Keep it posted here for more updates. Meanwhile enjoy these screenshots.
