MySpace-The Game!! screenshots - Image 1 MySpace-The Game!! screenshots - Image 2

PSP homebrew developer JEMdev (also responsible for the Ted Kennedy's Revenge game) dropped by the QJ.Net Forums some time ago to announce the release of a new Lua-coded homebrew game titled Myspace: The Game!!!!. As its name implies, this game is a humorous simulation of the MySpace experience of eliminating those ever-annoying pop-up ads. There are two simple goals:
  1. Log in
  2. Try to stay logged in as long as possible
Players will have to close the constantly appearing ads onscreen, or they'll literally run out of "User's Patience" (your lifebar) and log out. That's all there is for the moment - download the file below if you fancy giving this homebrew a try. Kudos to JEMdev and Adiuvo for informing us of this release - make sure to visit the author's release thread here at QJ's PSP Development Forum for further discussions.

PSP - Image 1 Joel Van from our forums has dropped by to tell us about an update he has made to Guitargod1134's popular Guitarhelper homebrew application.

This application was originally made by Guitargod1134 to enhance PSP gamers' experience with their guitars, and this includes features such as Pentatonic Minor scales with root notes on the E and A strings and much much more that only the Guitargods would understand.

Anyway, since Guitargod himself has been a little busy lately, Joel Van has updated Guitarhelper to v0.4b with the original author's consent and added a few new features. Here's the changelog:
  • New fresh GUI
  • Crisp new Samples for the tuner
  • More chords&scales
  • New eboot with music!
Get the download below, and remember, this is mostly Guitargod and JEMdev's work, with some modifications by Joel Van. Hopefully they will all work together for the benefit of Guitarhelper soon. Rock on!

PSPGuitarGod1134 is back with a new version of GuitarHelper. While this new version doesn't include the much-awaited tab reader just yet ("it was quite buggy and not all the text was printed so i decided to just remove it"), it does come with its own set of new features.

Changelog
  • Completely redone code. No code from the old releases was used, I redid it to make it more efficient and stable.
  • There is now a menu instead of pressing different buttons and stuff we now have a menu
  • off course with the menu there is a menu background which i would like to give a thanks to JEMdev
All you have to do to install GuitarHelper on your PSP is copy the "GuitarHelper v0.4a" folder to the GAME or GAME150 folder - depending on your settings - on your memory card ("Its not a kxploited eboot because I figure everyone must be on OE or SE so why wasted folders?").

To use it, simply select the option you want in the menu and press X. Start will return you back to the menu. When you have selected the tuner the tuner controls will be at the bottom of the screen.

Don't forget to read the heylookatme.txt file in the download before you install this homebrew app. For bug reports and suggestions, click the "discuss" link below.

Help with strumming.

Well, GuitarHelper is definitely a lot prettier this time round. GuitarGod1134, along with JEMdev (who "did mostly everything"), have come out with GuitarHelper v0.3b.

This latest installment of GuitarHelper has a spiffier interface and is now a standalone Eboot, which means you don't have to start Lua Player up before using it. GuitarGod1134 also wants to point out that despite what the readme or JEMdev says it actually works on SE-C, though he hasn't been able to test it yet. He also mentions, " I just flashed up to 3.03 OE and this worked on it so have no fear this is confirmed working on 3.03 OE," so you can probably check it out for yourself as well.

All in all, it won't teach you how to strum, but it'll definitely get you ready to rock. Now, can anyone lend us a guitar? Anyone?

PSP Dungeons 3D v0.6

Before we go into the topic at hand, this writer just has to say... dang, this game looks grrreat! I mean seriously, the graphics are so kickass you could easily mistake it for a UMD game. And based on the responses that we got when we posted PSP Dungeons 3D v0.5, I think it's safe to say that I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

Kudos to Charnold, the awesome coder responsible for bringing us this FPS, and for telling us about this new update he's made on the game. Now, if you weren't able to catch the previous versions, then you're probably also unaware that in addition to giving the game 3D-rendered environments, Charnold also decided to extend his generosity to fellow PSP users by sharing with us a map-making kit for the game. Pretty awesome, huh? So anyway, here's the list of stuff that's changed in v0.6:

Changelog:
  • 3 default button control sets
  • now you can actually see and evade the enemy shots :-)
  • player and enemies use 2 different weapon types with separate bullets
  • maps can have different door textures per level, hidden doors, invisible switches and a switch can open multiple doors (thanks to JEMdev for the ideas!)
  • enemies can kill each other
  • faster rendering of the 3d models

Die Dolphins Die!!! - Image 1 Die Dolphins Die!!! - Image 2

Okay, so apparently, the Die Critters Die game of the_darkside_986 has proven to be such an inspiration that having one expansion in the form of Ted Kennedy's Revenge isn't enough.

Now, we have yet another mod for the original Die game, and again, we have JEMdev to thank for it. Entitled Die Dolphins Die, it's pretty obvious who the targets are in this game. So how does this go? Ever creative JEMdev cooks up a little story where you happen to be a patient at the nuthouse. You get bored one day and opts to kill time by killing some other white meat. And no, humans just won't do this time.

So you trump over to Oceanworld, and there you have them friendly dolphins. The objective is simple. Killing a dolphin gives you one point while killing a dolphin with riders earns you two points. Now if you wanna go for the big kill, then go for shamu. It's bound to give you a hefty ten points, although, it's sure to damage your boat big time as well.

So there you go, you blood-thirsty, you. Oh, and says JEMdev, this time the mod comes fully ready to go with the eboot included, so there's no need for the original game.

Also, before any animal rights activists react violently, please keep in mind that this is just a game. No real dolphins were killed in the making of this homebrew, and here's hoping that the object of the game remains to be that--just a game.

gameplay

We can only imagine how you guys are enjoying the_darkside_986's roadkiller homebrew Die Critters Die! It definitely serves as an outlet for the hungry, angry monkeys inside of us all. But there are really, really bad days when the desire to strangle the guy beside you just wouldn't subside. This is not to say that the game doesn't serve it's purpose of letting out pent up emotions, it's just that it seems some li'l thing is missing...

Coder JEMdev might have noticed it himself because he just came up with an expansion for the previous release. Actually, Koolio directed us to the new game and next thing we knew, the monkeys inside are quite full, scratching their big bellies and feeling a bit sleepy.

We have to warn you though that Ted Kennedy's Revenge, the title of the expansion, no longer focuses on critters. It actually involves the recently concluded elections especially democrat candidate Ted Kennedy. Apparently, Kennedy got drunk in one of their big victory parties, hijacked the ACLU van, and the road rage ensues.

The objective of the game is to kill as many Republicans and undecided voters as possible. Avoid the democrats and the Halliburton tanker driven by Cheney. Installation of Ted Kennedy's Revenge is rather easy as you only have to overwrite the previous title's GFX folder with the new one.
