To add to the growing list of developers inspired by Jonny's work is headache. The new developer just released his first homebrew (so be nice y'all!) which is a mod of Jonny's recent work, the PMPMod AVC v1.02. According to headache, "I really really love the new PMPMod AVC 1.02 (using it everyday on my way to work) but it was lacking the very useful feature to save the current video position when stopping the video playback. That feature i knew from an older PMPMod release (modded by malloc?)." So with that predicament at hand, he took matters into his own hands by "taking the latest AVC 1.02 sources I could find (the ones from Raphael with subtitle enhancements) and re-adding the ".POS file" saving/restoring code. I must admit I am not sure who initially coded that, so props to that coder!" Although this is just a mod of the original version, it is of course a welcome addition to the homebrew world. With that, don't hesitate to dish out your constructive suggestions, opinions, and criticisms through your comments. Download: [PMPMod AVC 1.02 SUB POS Support] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |

*UPDATE: The missing .ini file in the download has now been included. Go ahead and click on the link below and enjoy this DickyDick1969 app! (Thanks, NorthernFusion for the heads up!)
The recent release of jockyw2001's PMP VLC Player may have been one of DickyDick1969's inspirations in improving his homebrew app, the PiMPStreamer. This time, he has updated the latest PiMPStreamer v0.65. What is new? Now, the app sports subtitles! Again, this update is for firmware 1.5 only, but he is really working hard to bring out the goodness of PiMPStreamer to other firmwares, so watch out for updates. Although the team he is rooting for to win the World Cup (The Netherlands) loss in part because of some questionable calls by the officials, he was able to shrug it off to bring to life this update. According to the good developer, "I merged the code from Raphael so there is now a SUB supported PiMPStreamer. At special request from a great donater. To use SUB files, place the sub file in the PSP/VIDEO and play the movie. If your movie to be streamed is called sometitle.avi the subtitle file has to be named sometitle.avi.SUB. It only works with full fps streaming and without time skip." Nice! Here is a screenshot of the updated PiMPStreamer in action (Guess what he's streaming...). Don't you worry if the subtitle is blurry in this pic for according to DickyDick, "the blurriness is because I can’t take pictures." As always, your constructive criticisms, observations, and suggestions about this app will be well appreciated by DickyDick1969. So feel free to tell us what you think through your comments, for they will surely not fall on deaf ears.
Update: Some of you may have noticed that the important .ini file was missing from the download. Well, thank goodness that DickyDick1969 reads your comments! According to the good developer, "I’ve placed the pmp.ini file back in.. Due to the merge I misplaced the location (it looks into /pmp.ini instead :~), so i recompiled." So now, you can download the complete homebrew app without the hassles! Enjoy and don't forget to tell us what you think about it. This homebrew app enables you to play media files from the memory stick (videos from PSP/VIDEO and music from PSP/MUSIC), from Optixx's PMP Server via WiFi (this will require Python), and transcoded and streamed from VLC via WiFi (requires VLC 0.8.4a). Now, you can play media files on your PSP that were just once lazying around within the recesses of your PC's hardware. In the good developer's own words, "you can now play mediafiles on your PSP which are stored on your PC, with no need to first manually transcode and copy them to memstick. So if you are a lazy bumb like myself and if your PC runs all the time and you like to watch movies or tv on your PSP this proggie is just what you need." The transcoding is done by VLC in real time. The PMP VLC client controls your VLC server: you can open a file for playback, pause and stop it. Streaming protocol is http via tcp. Plus, let's say that you have a TV card or any live stream source lying around somewhere, you can have VLC transcode and stream it to your PSP. The developer also said that the "PMP VLC 0.0.7 is actually JiniCho's PMP 0.06 (Nov '05) with jonny's performance improvements. I've added network streaming and VLC control support. Essentially it is a PSP port of Ffmpeg's ffplayer." Download: [PMP VLC 0.0.7] Download: [PMP VLC 0.0.7 Source Code] The full installation procedures await after the jump! |
