Ico Applicator now in version 2 - Image 1 Ico Applicator now in version 2 - Image 2

The homebrew developer duo of Jojodu0010 and Marc6310 has just released a new version of their project Ico Applicator. Basically, what this program does is change the icon used for the PSP's memory stick when it's connected to a PC unit. One good feature of this app is that it doesn't tinker with the flash of your handhelds.

For example, the rather boring "Removable Disk" icon will appear whenever you hook up your PSP to a PC and turn its USB mode on. With Ico Applicator installed, the said icon can be changed to a PSP icon. Pretty nifty, if you ask us. As for the changes, here's the changelog for Ico Applicator v2:
  • Better management of the RAM
  • Addition of the logo of our TEAM
  • Addition of 11 additional icons
  • You can remove the icon and return to your good old Removable Disk icon
  • You can now choose the name of your reader which was automatically called "My PSP" in the first version
  • Almost more spelling mistakes in the homebrew [We think what they mean was "less spelling mistakes"]
Just like the last time, there are two different versions available for both FW 1.50 and FW SE/OE users. Installation is pretty much similar to the first version. Just click on the aforementioned link to check out the instructions.

Ico Applicator - Image 1

PSP homebrew developers Jojodu0010 (Duck-hunt) and Marc6310 (To The Top) have just announced the release of a new application, titled Ico Applicator. This app will allow users to change the icon their PSP's memory stick displays when it's hooked up to a PC, and carries 60 different icons to choose from.

As for controls: Pressing the directional keys or the analog moves the onscreen cursor, pressing "X" selects an icon, pressing L/R moves between the selection pages, while "Start" will exit the app. To get Ico Applicator working:
  1. Download the corresponding bundle (firmware 1.5, or fw SE/OE)
  2. Unzip the file, and unload its contents into the GAME/GAME150 folder.
  3. Run the application
  4. Choose an icon
  5. Exit the app
  6. Connect your PSP to a PC via USB mode
If you followed the instructions correctly, the icon you picked out should display in place of the generic disk icon. Before you guys get started, we advise users to take heed - we've heard of some who've attempted to run this app off both PSP 3.40 OE and PSP fw 1.5, and were unable to get it to work as it was supposed to.

We're unsure if this might be an isolated case, although in case other users report the same prob, we'd really appreciate it if somebody could mention a good workaround. This application's still an early release, so we advise users to keep alert for any updates. With that said, enjoy the download!

Duck-hunt v0.2 - Image 1 Duck-hunt v0.2 - Image 2

PSP homebrew developers jojodu0010 and marc6310 have released v0.2 of their homebrew game Duck-hunt. Basically, you use the analog stick (or the d-pad, whichever you prefer) to aim and X to shoot - you get 35 points if you shoot the faster yellow bird, 20 points if you hit the red duck, 10 points for annihilating the blue duck, and -10 points if you shoot the black ducks. The game is so simple, you wouldn't even notice that the entire game is in French. Here's the changelog for Duck-hunt version 0.2:

  • graphic improvements
  • creating cheat codes now possible
  • added audio and analog stick controls
  • improved RAM management
  • you now have the option to aim using the analog stick or the d-pad
  • addition of game summary at the end of the game
Duck-hunt version 0.2's graphics and design were taken care of by marc3610. It comes in two versions - one for PSPs using firmware 1.50 and one for those who are using 3.xx OE. So with all that said, here are the download links. Enjoy!

duck-hunt v0.1 was coded by jojodu0010 - Image 2 duck-hunt v0.1 was coded by jojodu0010 - Image 1

I remember having Duck Hunt when I was younger on my Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). But I didn't have a light gun, which was like the saddest thing ever. Anyway, I brought the topic up because one coder over at French site XtreamLua just revived the game the homebrew way.

Developer jojodu0010's duck-hunt v0.1 has a little twist, mind you, concerning the game's score system. Unlike other creations, you're not supposed to shoot every single duck flying across your PSP's screen. Ducks with different colors yield the different scores. The black ones are not supposed to be shot because killing them will result in -10 points.

Anyway, like we've mentioned, the developer is actually French so you will find the game written in the same language. Don't worry though as it is not very hard to understand - much like this changelog taken from a web translation:
  • Possibiliter to fair screenshot
  • Possbiliter to put the play in pause
  • Possibiliter to leave the homebrew
  • A management of safeguard of your best score has
  • Possibiliter to play
