By popular demand Kagato from our forums has released his two homebrew games - Electrics and Reactor - as standalone Eboots today. Not only does this mean that you will find a considerable speed increase when running the games, you also no longer need Lua Player installed to run the games. Electris remains at version 1.0 at the moment whilst Reactor has been updated to version 1.3 today. In version 1.3 the proton's velocity in Reactor is now timer-based. The framerate may change with CPU load, but the game should play at a constant speed regardless. Kagato has also updated the particle sprites to have a chrome appearance, as a small visual cleanup. Heads-up, PSP users! We got another homebrew update for you, and this time it's Reactor v1.2 that's in the limelight. Reactor is a homebrew game made by Kagato (a.k.a. Andrew Carpenter), coded in Lua and works with PSP firmware 1.5, 2.0-2.6.Basically, you have to eliminate the balls (particles) in the large sphere (the reactor) by bouncing a (proton) ball with the deflector shield. In this particular version, the developer changed the "table iterators for compatibility with LuaPlayer v0.20 or Lua v5.1." Wanna try it out? Just click on the link below to download this game. To install it, just copy the "Reactor" directory in the zip archive to the "PSP/GAME/luaplayer/Applications" folder in your PSP. Have fun! Download: [Reactor v1.2] |

Electris' Studio Kagato has released another game for the NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition: Breakout-inspired Reactor v1.0.
In this game, players control a shield running along the reactor's wall and bounce a proton ball to hit and eliminate nasty little particles lurking inside for points. Chain hits together in a single pass for bonus points. Eliminate all particles, move up one level. Every time you move up a level, the game throws in more particles, more speed, and more mayhem. Don't let the proton hit the reactor wall or you'll lose energy! Lose all your energy, and... BOOM! Control for this game's slightly different from the classic Breakout formula but is very simple, very easy to get into and get the hang of. Use the analog stick to position your deflector: you want it at the twelve-o'clock position, push the stick up; if you want it at the seven-o'clock position, push the stick in the appropriate direction. Press X to launch your proton at the start of each level; Select to quit your game. Scoring (from Readme.txt):

Here's another creative game from developer Kagato, an update to the earlier version of Electris. The player's objective is to align the falling blocks to create closed circuits which will then be removed from the board. The player has to be careful in placing the blocks to make sure that they create a closed circuit. Large circuits will create "circuit-breakers" that will help in cleaning up the player's mistakes. It also shouldn't take too long for one to create a closed circuit as a penalty row will added.Scoring system: - 1 point for each block dropped - 10 points per block in a closed circuit - Chain circuits earn a score multiplier - 25 point bonus if circuit-breaker erases no blocks (double if dropped to floor) Electris 1.0 has new features that include a menu system, multiple difficulty levels, new game instructions, background music, more consistent controls and delay loops that have been replaced with Timer classes.
