A few days back, we brought to you hallo07's Battery PRX. This time around, homebrew developer EvilSeph informed us that his group, Team tOc, has released Battery InfO V.1. By simply looking at the screenshot below, you'll have an idea what this app does.
This nifty tool is an OE PRX that provides you with a detailed information about your PSP's battery. The devs mentioned that you need not go through your XMB and go to Battery Information since every info you need about your PSP's juice is displayed on the right hand side. Team tOC also said that this is just a small part of a larger project that they're thinking of (or working on already). |

MaTiAz either has a lot of time in his hands or he sure is one fast coder. After releasing VSH Rebooter PRX v0.1 just two days ago, he's back with a bumped up version of his homebrew app, a plug-in for PRX devs. The updates for this version may not be a lot but they're stiill definitely helpful, especially now that v0.2 comes with an installer (he added this because a lot of you guys were asking how-to's). So anyhoo, whaddya say we get this show on the road and bring you the all-important... Changelog:
this program comes with NO WARRANTY AT ALL, so follow the instructions so you're safe. I'm not responsible for bricks, and I doubt there will be any, except for because of user stupidity (which I doubt will happen either). Well, there ya have it. But before you go fiddling around your PSPs, know that the readme file was put there for a reason so go use it, okay? MaTiAz would like to give a shout out to "TUW, Mathieulh, kando, harleyg, Coldbird, Dark_AleX and lots of other people I've forgotten at lan.st and other places". We so don't want to go through this over again but for purposes of discussion, CIntro is is a small introduction sequence attached to a cracked software. Now, the modifier is an eboot that runs pmfPlayer.prx to play any PMF file on startup if enabled through firmware. With that already out of the way, homebrew developer Kando passed by our forums a while ago and released a new version of his CIntro Modifier. Aside from the many changes included in this release, the most important one is that the program now supports firmwares 3.02OE-B, 3.03OE-A, and 3.03OE-A' only. Guys, the key here is the word "only." Using this with other firmwares will brick your handhelds. Here is the changelog for CIntro Modifier v2. If you don't know what this is all about, we suggest command that you study the readme files first. But for those of you who fully understand this, have fun! Changelog:

A new year means new beginnings. With that said, we're welcoming this bit of news from homebrew dev kando, who's just released Flash0/1 Free Space Calculator v.3 for your PSP's consumption. For those wondering what this brew does, it's a program that detects how much space you've got left in your Flash0. The program does so by copying a large file to your flash0, and detecting how much it manages to contain. It then deletes this file, and sends a file named flash0space.txt to your ms0:/ as a report. Now, as for the new tweaks in v.3:

Earlier, we gave you a preview of Kando's new mod for Piccahoe's CIntro app. Well, it's finally out and ready for your downloading pleasure. Kando's CIntro mod works for both v0.1 and v0.2 of the original CIntro app, but you need 3.02OE-B installed on your PSP for it to work properly. This app effectively replaces the Sony coldboot screen. Instead of the usual Sony intro, you see a rather cool intro movie from the Death Note anime. According to Kando, his CIntro mod "places all of the CIntro files into FLASH1, modifies the eboot to work in there, and modifies the firmware to autoboot FLASH1:/EBOOT.PBP instead of MS0:/PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP on startup." Installation: IF YOU USE VERSION 0.2 YOU MUST EDIT THE INTROCFG.INI AND CHANGE bootup=ms0:/PSP/GAME/IRSHELL/EBOOT.PBP; TO bootup=xmb Extract the 2 folders in this release into whichever folder is your 1.50 kernel (GAME or GAME150) Once thats done...
Please check the readme file included in the download before you install this app. If you have any questions or comments, click on the discuss link below to talk about this release on the QJ forums. Kudos to xploren for telling us about this release. It seems that homebrew developer Kando is into a lot developing lately. Around Christmas time, together with Team FWI he released the Gameboot Path Modifier. It is an application that allows the gameboot file to load on the memory stick, therefore, skipping the hassle and danger of flashing. Interestingly, Kando's next release goes along that line as well.
CIntro or crack intro, in case you aren't aware, is a small introduction sequence attached to a cracked software. One perfect example of this is the HelloPRX application by Sousanator. One can actually look at CIntro as a homebrew marking its territory. Well, Kando just marked his and he was able to do it permanently, meaning his own CIntro mod was flashed directly into the PSP. It runs without a memory card. Quite unfortunately, Kando was unable to released yet his CIntro mod. We're speculating he's already on the finishing touches of the application. It could be just hours, if not minutes from now, before he makes a release. We will update you as soon as things develop. But in the mean time, let this short clip serve as proof first: |

There is a hot-of-the-grill homebrew application in our forums right now. Homebrew developer Kando informed us that Team FWI (composed of himself, LordSturm, Birdman and JamesBDX) just came up with the first version of Gameboot Path Modifier. This release probably trace it roots from the 2.71 EBOOT. It does exactly what the eboot does. Almost exactly and yet, much better. In case you are not quite familiar with this, here's a little bit of an explanation: Our PSP unit's firmware is programmed to load gameboot.pmf at start up from the directory (flash0:/vsh/resource/gameboot.pmf). So in short, we have to flash our handhelds whenever we want to change this. With the hassle aside, flashing still is dangerous and takes up valuable flash0 space. The Gameboot Path Modifier edits the firmware, allowing the gameboot to load from the memory stick. The next question now is, "Do I still need to flash every single time?" The answer is no. A good follow-up question is "Will this brick my PSP?" Team FWI answers, "1 out of 9,999,999,999 psp's may brick." Despite that low, low chance of bricking your PSP, it is still nonetheless a chance. Before proceeding and loading this to your handhelds, kindly read the Read me file first. Download: [Gameboot Path Modifier v1.0] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |

Everybody seems to be in a giving mood this holiday season! Why did we say that? Because kando stopped by our forums to tell us about his and weltall's nifty creation which is the Flash0 Free Space Calculator v1. The app is based on some codes by LordSturm and what it does is it tries to determine just how much space is free on your Flash0. This app is pretty nifty for those people who wish to code a program that uses flash0 space. Also, in case you may want to modify firmware parts that require more flash0 room, this app right here could come in pretty handy. However, it is not free of any bugs as kando shares that for now, free space could only be calculated up to 1.50MB. With regards to this app bricking your flash0, he says that: Not likely. there is ALWAYS a 0.00001% chance of bricking, however, as long as you dont take out your battery or run it w/ 1% battery left, you will be fine. Just let the program finish running. Also if you run this program about 100,000 times your flash0 might give out. But then again, even w/ all my playing around w/ flash0, i've only written a couple hundred times Download: [Flash0 Free Space Calculator v1] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |

If you don't want to flash a new gameboot to your PSP due to flashing risks, then the amazing Birdman has come up with a way to load a gameboot from your memory stick on Dark_Alex's 2.71 SE Custom firmware. That's right, no more harmful flashing, just a bit of time and you can load your gameboot from your memory stick. All you need is a decrypted 2.71 dump, a hex editor, and you're ready to go. Here's how you do it:

If you guys have been following the goings on in the homebrew community, then you've probably heard the news that LordSturm and kando are currently working on having fw 3.00's Visualizer in 2.71SE-C.
When Dark_Alex released his 2.71 SE-C Custom Firmware, you didn't really expect that other coders wouldn't get to work on improving it and adding more features right? A perfect example for this is LordSturm and kando, who are hard at work in devising a method to use 3.00 visualizer features safely from 2.71 SE-C. And to update us on what's been going on so far and how much progress they've achieved on their work, kando (or kandowontu on YouTube) has posted this video on YouTube which shows the visualizer at work...via Kanye West. Again, they remind us that this is a work in progress so if you don't like what you see, don't complain just yet, alright? LordSturm has also informed us that we can expect a release or hack soon, probably early December. Great work you guys! |
