The sixth week of PSN Spring Fever features the usual truckload of add-ons, trailers, and the ever-present Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks. Spearheading today's batch is Wheel of Fortune and the LBP Killzone Mini-pack. Karaoke Revolution
also features songs that certainly put the movie mood on, but they're
the American Idol versions though. Check the list inside for a some of
the content. |

The video game industry is undoubtedly dominated by males, but we do know that gaming is not just a big frat house. Female gamers do exist, and like the opposite gender, they come in different shapes, sizes and forms. If you do your homework, you'll also notice that girl gamers have distinct traits which allow us to divide them into several types (just like guys). In this QuickList, we'll give you a rundown on what these types are. Hit that jump! |

Yes, some people just love to sing so much, they'd prefer to sing on the go as well. So we consider it as an act of providence when a 'brew developer, Hyve 647846, created pspKaraoke, the PSP's homebrewed MP3+G player. It has some added features that emulate the karaoke experience while on the go. Piqued your interest much? Go check out the full article for more details.Download: pspKaraoke |

We've only had one report on Sony's Japanese Karaoke simulator for your PSP, P-Kara, and that was way back in October. Well, the game was put into the market around December last year, and after a charmed existence, the game's download service that allows users to gain access to around 3,000 streaming songs for only US$ 6.98 a month will end come June 30, 2007. So what's left for P-Kara purchasers? It is reported that folks who buy the game, still get to download 20 tunes even after the pay-per-month download service has ended. Just 20 tunes? Well that's fun. Sigh. So sad this is. |

Sony is bringing some PlayStation loving to the Big Apple for the New York Comic Con at the Javits Center. If you happen to be in the area, drop by and be sure to bring your PSP for a chance to get some nice freebies. Each day, the first 50 PSP-carrying people who drop by the PlayStation booth #411 will get a UMD carrying case. If that's not your thing, you can also get to be one of the first people to try MotorStorm online (for massive bragging rights!). In a karaoke mood? Show off your vocal talent at the SingStar stage. You can also download content directly to your PSP at Sony's PSP Spot. In addition, a daily sweepstakes will be held, where the loot is a PSP and other PlayStation prizes. Best of all, you don't need to buy anything to join the raffle. Just show up. Oh, and you have to be a U.S. resident, too. And make sure to ask your mom if you're in any way related to Jack Tretton. If you are, you're out of the contest. For more details, click on the "via" link below. |

The P-kara karaoke software and the MAPLUS Portable Navi navigation software was recently launched in Japan, we came across some of the details regarding the two software titles.
P-kara
P-kara doesn't just let you sing along to songs loaded in to your PSP's memory stick, the software takes advantage of the effervescently named So-Net (we're thinking that's Sony Networks) ISP, and uses the PSP's integrated WiFi functionality to allow users to download or (more amusingly) stream tracks using their PSP. P-kara comes with a headset microphone that should look like so:

A karaoke simulator seems like an absolutely crazy program to put into your PSP. Where there's something crazy in the minds of man, however, there's also somebody crazy enough to implement it as an actual game. Hence Sony's new creation: P-Kara. Via the powers of the Google translation software, we manage to get a little bit of insight into what we get from playing this game. It's certain that there's a karaoke singing mode as a headset will be bundled into the game package, and you start off with 20 different songs. Once the online component becomes available though, you can actually make use of two different payment services to download new songs to karaoke all night long with. Speaking of karaoke, we might as well mention that P-Kara will have multiple features. Using P-Kara's karaoke function along with online play, you can actively engage in KvK: karaoke versus karaoke battling. The game ranks your singing prowess, records it, and can upload it onto a site to rank all P-Kara players who want to take the plunge and sing on the virtual stage. In extra mode, players can also do another Japanese novelty fad, the "para-para" dance, by doing DDR dance combinations with their fingers in tune with the music. Shop mode is the function you use if you want to purchase music online, while party mode is... well, a party! Party mode will allow players to link together, choose their favorite songs and take turns singing (or you could all sing) as their PSPs randomly select a tune from those selected by the players. Sounds like insane gaming, devoid of killing or rolling things up in a ball, but if the music's good, why not make it a fun little import for yourself? Keep your eye out for this fun little title, and pray it gets farther than Japanese shores. |
