There is nothing in the world that makes a gamer smile in the morning than waking up with his favorite handheld beside him. Apparently, a lot of people feel that way so MEXICANSNAKE has rolled out an update on his PSPirate's alarm clock. We recently covered a previous version of this homebrew and were very impressed by the different functionalities the alarm clock offered. If this is the first time you're going to be using this program, the installation readme, instructions and release notes are included in the download. It's a simple drag and drop method, just go over the readme to find out more about it. If you're updating your older version of PSPirate's alarm clock, here are some of the changes:

If you, like most of the QJ writers, find it hard to get out of bed in the morning waking up to a days work - whether it be administrative, physical, or school work - then why not wake up to something a little more fun. Mexicansnake has today popped by our forums to tell us of a new release of his - the PSPirate's Alarm Clock. The difference with this alarm clock is that you're not only greeted by a friendly tune, but a video game as well. Not satisfied with just waking you up in the morning, this application/game hybrid wakes you up to a mellow song, then starts up a single player game of PSPirates! This version includes animations, an analog clock, digital clock, date, PSP version spoof, battery level indicator, and much more. You can download the alarm clock and game from via the DL link below. Update: For those of you having issues with running this application on PC, this is because the application reads the flash0 of the PSP and therefore only works on the PSP. Do not try using it on Lua Player for Windows as you will just be greeted with an error message. And PSP users, this only reads the flash0 and does no flashing at all, so there is no chance of a brick! Download: PSPirate's Alarm Clock v0.1 Visit: PSP Development Forum |

Stuck pixels. What an eye sore. There have been a couple of apps from way back when that allowed you to fix your PSP screen's unsightly squares. Today though, Mexicansnake, who's known for his Lua games PSPirates and Lua Wormz, has tried his hand at creating his first homebrew app. It's called MultiPixelFixer, and allows you to do just that: fix multiple pixels that might be stuck on your screen. Here's a full list of features for his app:
And still, the search for the holy grail - an absolute *dead* pixel fixer - still continues... Download: MultiPixelFixer Visit: PSP Development Forums |

Yeah, we were wondering about that quirky little detail. Apparently the previous version of PSPirates had a little bug in it. Good thing the PSPMex team was able to squash it out fast. They've released an update to their homebrew game, and as coder Mexicansnake says, it's pretty much the same version as the last, but now with the bug is fixed. In PSPirates v5c, you can now access the awards that you get in the game and view them in the "Gallery" section. The previous release somehow wasn't able to show the unlockables, and now, it sort of works like a save state. That's how the they got around into tweaking it. Mexicansnake stresses that this is "just a bug fix release," but see, it's the type of little bug that when fixed makes the whole game that much better. As for future releases of this insanely fun button-masher of a game, the team is planning to create a new story mode, complete with the ability to sail your ship through areas of a new map, a treasure chart mode, night mode, more graphics, sounds, and animations. Merry Christmas, ye scallywags! Thought ye be gettin' by the holidays without another update by the PSPMex team? Anchors away and get ye dirty hands on the deck! Time for some button mashing! Team leader Mexicansnake just released PSPirates v4 beta over at our forums. Aside from correcting some code, they've also added two new game modes, new secrets (hmmm...), and a new screen at the credits menu. To access the new game modes, in the game selector menu:
On behalf of the rest of the team - Rikardo_92 (gallery coder), Deanaw22 (artist), Xploren (artist) - Mexicansnake is taking your suggestions for future versions. He's promising more game modes, animations, and room for improvement. Note: If you're looking for the usual download link, try again later. We're still working on downloading the file but the site just won't cooperate for now. Dont' worry, you can still grab the download by going to our forums as linked below! Zion and MexicanSnake have updated their Lua game, Lua Wormz to version 2.0 today just in time for the Neoflash homebrew coding competition. The aim of the game is to kill the worm on the other side of the fence/wall using a grenade attack. Although this is a beta release, the actual gameplay features have all been completed, with a simple attack and computer AI already included. Here's the changelog:

MexicanSnake and Deanaw22 have released another version of their PSPirates homebrew game coded in Lua, updating it to version 2 just three days after the first release. In this button-mashing styled game, you have to try and destroy the pirate ship opposite you before it destroys yours! Quite a few moderate updates have been added for this version, all of which increases the longevity of this game. Here's the changelog:

Mexicansnake, in conjunction with Deanaw22, has released a button-masher type game named PSPirates (written in LUA) with the aim of the game being to destroy the other boat first. They are both the first to admit, that the game is a really small one and that they finished it in only 2 days! Notwithstanding this, the game is pretty fun (and pretty hard) and the controls are pretty straight forward - just use X in the game (as quick as you can) to sink the other boat! It wasn't so long ago that we featured HaxxBlaster's Graphical Vote Table (that non-devs could turn into a Magic 8-Ball) here at QJ. Lua developers have warmly received his work and have given their support and opinion through its release thread over at the forums. The tool by the way, has been very busy since its release, even sparking some ideas for other developers like MexicanSnake (responsible for PSPShootOuts and Lua Wormz). Recently, there has been a report made by delight1 about a bug. Apparently, if you try to make it so that there are no votes, it will freeze. But, HaxxBlaster is quick to react and has immediately gone to work on fixing that bug. Great job HaxxBlaster! Download: [Graphical Vote Table (Bugfix)] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |
