QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1Another week full of lawsuits. Poor, beleaguered company Midway came under fire once again, and this time it was from a very unlikely direction: the guy behind the Mortal Kombat movies is suing them in order to "protect his IP rights", which is a better way of saying that he wants to keep milking the MK franchise for as long as possible. Square Enix also got served with a class-action lawsuit for "deceiving" Final Fantasy XI patrons regarding fees. Not everything was bad, though. Read all about 'em after the jump in this week's Warrior recap.

Xbox 360 Japan - Image 1It took a while for the Japanese to warm up, but Japan sales are now looking good for Microsoft's Xbox 360 (8,015), so said Media Create Sales' data released for the week of June 8 to 14, thus moving it up a notch closer to the PS3 (10,009). The PSP stays cozy at number 2 with 26,904 units sold. However, to nobody's surprise, it's still Nintendo (Wii - 18,442. DS - 42,280) who's laughing all the way to the bank.

BBFC - Image 1 Following the government decision to uphold PEGI as the sole and official ratings board in UK, the BBFC has sent their well-wishes, albeit still with that restrained barb. BBFC Director David Cooke insisted that the BBFC would have been the better choice. Meanwhile, top industry heads are giving their praises for the government's pick. Read all about it after the jump.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1I'm personally baffled and not all too keen about Koei Tecmo's proposition of  incentivizing their staff to expand their families. Maybe they do need the population in their headquarters' town. But what I am sure of is that the news and updates here at QJ are expanding and on their own, beyond the shadows of E3.The (post) event updates have considerably slowed down, but in its place are new items and updates to buzz about, like a new custom firmware, executives' gripes about leakages in the industry, and pushing forth the race of this generation from mere hardware to motion control. It's all right here, so dig in.

E3 2009 - Image 1Seems like I wasn't the only one of the opinion that E3 made a splashy comeback with this year's event. Industry bigwigs also expressed their satisfaction with how it averted near-disaster, and giving a great show despite the pull-out of some companies, as well as the threat of the A-H1N1 virus. Check out what some of the industry personalities had to say about E3 2009 after the jump.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1Shocking title? No, not really. That's not meant to bash the E3 2009 event. After all, it was a HUGELY successful one, and we're really happy for ESA that it all worked out so well. After all, it was only last year that they were practically declared clinically dead by the industry. And it was a big comeback they sure showed this year. BUT. All that you're gonna see here are news items and industry happenings that did NOT happen at E3, although not necessarily with absolutely nothing to do with the stuff that went down in LA. Hopefully you'll still read up on this one despite that limited scope. There is life beyond E3, after all. *wink*

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1For the weekend directly leading up to the E3 event, it sure was jampacked with news, wasn't it? If you've been hanging around the industry for a while now, you'd know that the usual occurrence during this time of the year (or whenever there is an event, actually), is to have some kind of drought in news. But no, not this year. Everyone's just as pumped up about the upcoming event, it didn't matter if the news that came out were more on the rumors and speculations and "leaks" side. We don't mind. We know we're in for the big stuff. Are you ready?

QJ QuickPeek Special Edition: The E3 2008 Game Retrospective - Image 1We've already taken a look back at what transpired on the hardware side of things in our previous special edition QuickPeeks, so this time let's review the game announcements from E3 2008 that graced these pages. We'll see if the words of the big three as well as the third-party developers and publishers at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo came to pass.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1And the build up for E3 2009 continues. The good news is that the pre-E3 dry spell hasn't quite started yet, but we're in the final stretch here, folks. Everybody and their mother -- or grandmother, in the case of Old Grandma Hardcore -- is getting ready for June's big event. That still a week away, though. Now as for this week, we once again saw rumors, denials, confirmations and teases about what we'll be seeing not just at the upcoming annual game expo but for the rest of the year as well. Read on for all the big news that flashed across the QJ front pages the past seven days.
