We have given you some screenshots of the Guerilla Games-developed venture, Killzone: Liberation, these past days. Now, to make our update of the game complete, we will top it of with a Killzone: Liberation Q&A, participated by the games' developers. The developers gamely answered questions with regards to Liberation, its multiplayer functionality, and the future of the Killzone franchise, among many other things.

The PSP version will make you reprise the role of Jon Templar, only this time, you are not assigned to prevent a global attack by the enemy, but you are tasked to rescue prisoners and hostages behind enemy lines. With all that said, what are we waiting for? Let's jump right to the Q&A.

Q1: What is the background on Killzone: Liberation? How did this game come about?
Killzone: Liberation is the follow up to Killzone for PlayStation2. Like its predecessor, it is an action-packed tactical shooter game that has been developed from the ground-up specifically for PSP system. There are many upgrades and improvements in the latest installment of the franchise, such as enhanced visual style, intricate storyline and new function modes.

Q2: Was Killzone for PlayStation 2 originally planned as the first of an expanding franchise?
With any intellectual property, it is always the developer's goal to create a game and story that can continue to grow and expand. Of course, sequels always depend on the performance of the game, as well as media and consumer response. The original Killzone is now a PlayStation 2 Greatest Hit and has sold two million unites worldwide. It only made sense to continue the story and give the fans more.

Q3: What is the storyline for Killzone: Liberation? Does it pick up where the first one left off?
The game's story continues two months after the end of the original Killzone for PlayStation 2. Set against a postmodern war, the battle against the evil Helghast rages on with most of South er Vekta still under their control. The fleet has arrived but the Helghast troops, led by General Metrac, are still gaining ground in the southern provinces. Returning as the Templar, players are on a mission to save hostages captured by Metrac, while ISA troops continue the fight for liberty.

More questions and answers await after the jump.

invisible shield

I love my PSP, but I've never purchased any sort of protection for the unit, I've always just used the soft carrying case it came with. Those armor type cases didn't make much sense to me because I wear cargo pants so I just slip the thing in my massive pocket, and I try to not make it a habit of dropping the device anyway. I've always kept an eye on screen protectors though, mainly because no one wants to scratch up their PSP's pretty surface, but I never got one because I didn't like the idea of seeing a sheeny, shiny screen of plastic laid over my regular screen, obstructing my vision and dimming the PSP's screen brightness. If you've felt the same way, you might want to keep reading, because there's a product on the market that should make you a pretty happy camper. Oh, and in case you don't own a PSP and are wondering what this story is doing on your fave blog, it's because the the InvisibleSHIELD can be custom cut to fit over 400 different devices, including PDA's the Nintendo DS, and yes, the iPod too.

ace combat

Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception is the high flying franchise's first appearance on the PSP. It has the same level of action, flexibility, art and style found in the console versions but in a portable form. The realistic planes military war toys are there along with the fiction-merged-with-fact storyline but with the addition of wireless multiplayer. Ace Combat game for the PSP has many customizable features from weapon strength and ammunition type, location of aerial dogfights, to the number of ground targets.
The game plot is set in the Federal Republic of Auerila at a time of military conflict with the Democratic Republic of Leasath (the fictional part). It seems Auerila did Leasath wrong during a civil war (the fact part?). Gamers take on the role of an Aurelian Air Force Top Gun. Now, if you really want to know more about the game, you can watch the Gamespot interview with Taiki Homma, Namco's associate localization producer. There's one guy who knows the game inside out.

NeoGeoThe guys of the NeoGeo Emulator for PSP has just released an updated beta for the application. Now, you can get the NEOGEO Emulator for PSP beta 2, roughly nine days after releasing the first Beta for this new emulator that they are working on.

Although this emulator is still a diamond in the rough, surely the emulator guys are busy fixing up bugs and amping their emulator's features so as to give a really great gaming experience to the future users of this homebrew emulator.

And since these guys are really miracle workers, it won't be surprising if they'll be able to perfect this one. So with that, let me say that as always your constructive observations, criticisms, and suggestions would be a great deal of help. For now, let's go over the changelog which was tirelessly translated by QJ's very own, Jeff C.

Changelog for NEOGEO Emulator for PSP beta 2:

- Games that were unable to start before can now be started with sound turned off. The ROM converter is no longer needed. Yet, the game is still far from playable due to the slow speed. Now, I'm not planning to make these games playable with sound on at all.
- With the above change, the ROM Converter is updated. Encrypted ROMs are required to be converted. Small-sized games are also supported by the converter. Due to the problem that the file selection dialog doesn't show up in Windows 9X, I've moved to use the VC6 compiler. Moreover, you can now drag & drop zip files onto romcnv.exe to get it converted.
- Bugs in CZ80 confirmed, so I changed to MAME Z80. I will use CZ80 again once it's fixed.
- Timer processing changed. With this change, Cross Swords and some other games that suffered major framerate drop is now back to normal.
- Sound processing changed, and the problem that the BGM was played slower than it should be is now fixed. There may be cases that the tempo slows down, but it is limited to the level that it doesn't interfere with the gameplay. Due to the lack of time, a fix from the bottom will be done later.
- The saving format of SRAM is now the same with MAME. With this change, old files are all deleted. Also, if the BIOS is changed, the SRAM files will all be deleted too.
