A couple of days ago, QJ tipster bruce33 sent us a note regarding a homebrew application named Recovery mode 3.40 from Playstation Portable (PSP) online site TeknoPSP. Now he's buzzing the QJ doorbell again informing us about another application from the same site (Thanks bruce33!) - Reboot for CIntro. Before we proceed though, we have to tell you that although we managed to get the application, the program was curiously removed from the above mentioned site so we couldn't pinpoint the author if this application. We also don't have any idea why it was removed so take a little care when you try this one. Basically, Reboot for CIntro is for those who are using 3.40 and fond of Crack Intro (CIntro). As you know, this is a small introduction sequence added to the cracked software to inform everyone the people responsible behind the exploit. The developer of this program that added animation has been added in the Eboot because he has gone quite tired of using MS Paint/Photoshop-created backgrounds. Also, music has been added in the Eboot to make the reboot process more interesting. Reboot for CIntro has an accompanying Readme file that contains other useful information and an installation guide. Download: Reboot for CIntro |

You think you're good with Photoshop? Well, here's something that can cause you're Photoshop wang to shrink by a few inches. YouTube user RANDISALBION, used MS Paint, and a photo of a PSP for reference to come up with something absolutely amazing considering it's done on Paint: a decent rendition of a PSP.
Below is a video of how he did it. If you're impressed with this one, check out his profile. He's got a whole lot of other videos showcasing his talent with MS Paint. Oh, the magic you can do with a decent tablet. (This blogger is being bitter...) Yes, this isn't news, but it the sheer awesomeness makes it worth posting. Don't worry it's tagged under off-topic, put down your pitchforks. |

Freshmilk has just tipped us off about his latest homebrew game for the PSP, and as you can probably guess from the title it isn't TTR! He's taken a little bit of a break since Table Top Rally v1.0 was released and has been coding (in LUA) his latest invention titled Capture the Flag v0.1. This game comes in EBOOT form so there's no need for LuaPlayer - so don't immediately switch off. The title is pretty self-explanatory but here's what Freshmilk said: "The objective is very simple; snatch the enemies' flag and make it back to you own base, without touching anyone [enemies] on the way." The first levels are very easy as the enemies are pretty slow and you can get around them easily. However, as you progress through the levels the enemies get faster, and you'll have to think of new strategies to get past them. First commenters may want to stay away from this game, as you might be forced to think! This is the first release and therefore not everything is peachy. At the moment the arrows cannot hurt you and are pretty intermittent in appearance, but the levels are still pretty difficult. The graphics have been painstakingly created in MS Paint, so they might not be up to the standard of the flashy TTR just yet, but expect more updates in the future. This game is really fun to play, especially if you're going on a long journey and have nothing else to do. Be sure to leave feedback in the forum release thread. Your suggestions might even make the next release! Download: [Capture the Flag v0.1] View: [Forum release thread] |

So you're probably familiar with Yongobongo's nifty "all in one" image editor, yPaint. Yep, that's the one that has a Macromedia Fireworks interface, as opposed to the "more normal" MS Paint look. Looks great, eh? Anyway, if you're not familiar with it, allow me to backtrack a little. Basically, Yongobongo's yPaint is an image editor for the PSP that allows you to edit or make cool doodles in your PSP. According to the dev, "it comes with a full colour selection tool, Line Lengths, a GUI (needs to be improved)" and image saving capabilities. This should work for those who have firmware 1.50-2.71, but he promises that a "1.00/eLoader EBOOT should be up soon". Guess we better keep our eyes peeled out for updates, then. The dev says to be on the lookout for bugs (after all, this isn't the final version yet, so be nice people). Plans for battery life display and additional functions are underway, so that' something to look forward to, right? In the meantime, check out the latest version here and do stay tuned here at QJ for more updates. Download: [yPaint v0.3] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |

The developer that brought us Planet fighter for the PSP, HaxxBlaster, is back today with a small but useful application to allow you to show off your artistic flare using the combination of your PSP and his new homebrew application Brushes v1.0. This program has been coded in Lua and allows you to create pictures using 'brushes' which are in fact images, allowing you to replace the existing brushes with your own images if you wish. All of the brushes you see in the screenshot were made by HaxxBlaster and images saved using this application (Yes, you can save your creations too) will be saved in the universal PNG format to save you memory stick space and compatibility problems. Although the fact that this application uses images instead of just normal colors may put you off, but this app's ability as a drawing tool it is actually quite good. It's smooth and the images come out in a very good quality - even when viewing files created in Brushes on the PSP, so move over MS Paint?!? Download: [Brushes v1.0] Discuss: [Forum release thread] |
