Here's some great news for all the emulator fans out there. StoneCut has announced on the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums that Ahman has ported NJ's popular homebrew emulators for use with firmware 3.xx.This means that PlayStation Portable users can now run the emulators on a PSP Slim. The ported emulators are cps1psp, cps2psp, ncdzpsp and mvspsp. Ahman says that the only emulator tested on fw 3.xx was cps2psp, but that the others should also work fine. You can also choose to download the ported Adhoc versions of the emulators below. The edited source code is also available for download. For more info, we suggest that you drop by our PSP Development Forums by clicking on the Visit link below. NJ, the author of the NeoGeo CDZ emulator has just released one of the first CAPCOM CPS1 Emulators for the PSP. There have been a few before, but I believe this one is the best currently. Although the readme is in Japanese, I was able to salvage whatever Babelfish could translate. I know, it isn't great, but for now, you'll have to make do with it. Translated Readme: "The game of QSOUND does not operate yet. The download contains two builds, one for 1.0 and the other KXploited. Download Link: [Capcom CPS1 Emulator Alpha2] |

Fast, miracle workers, awesome, amazing, who could this be? If you're thinking about the guys of the NeoGeo CDZ Emulator for the PSP, then right you are. Quite frankly, I am running out of adjectives to describe 'em, because I think that most of them descriptions that I could think of would be an understatement to how dedicated, quick, and efficient these guys are when it comes to tackling this emulator. The homebrew community is so lucky to have them on their team. Snaps for the developers! And yes, we go to this hour's main event (we'll never know, maybe they'll come up with a better update in the span of hours). The NEOGEO CDZ Emulator for PSP 0.5 has been updated from beta 2 to beta 3, for your own downloading pleasure. Now, we should go to the changelog which is translated by QJ's Jeff C., who is just as dedicated as the NeoGeo CDZ Emulator devs. Changelog:

A while ago I wrote an article about NEOGEO CDZ Emulator 0.5 Beta 2 for PSP and said how unbelievably fast the people over at the NEOGEO camp are working, and I don't know if they are making a sport out of updating (good news for us) but they're back. This time around they have released a bugfix on the NEOGEO Emulator for PSP. Call it a hunch, but maybe in an day or so they'd release another update. The translation is brought to you by the letter J. Thanks Jeff Chen! Changelog ver 0.1.3

The NEOGEO Emulator has been updated again taking it further to Beta 3. There are a few changes which should make this emulator even better. And who better than our resident translator/blogger Jeff C. to translate the changelog?Quoting the author first, "This is an unplanned update. This version is focused on fixing a big bug on Z80 emulation (now I think it should work correctly)." Actual Changelog:

Speedy guys, those Japanese devs: Only a few hours after Alpha 1 of the promising emulator was released, here we are again with Alpha 2. Made by NJ, the author of the excellent NeoGeo CDZ Emulator, this one supports the arcade romsets. This also means that due the nature of ROMs, some games will not be playable, as they are too big to fit into the PSP's memory. However, the download includes a handy list saying which games are supported and which aren't. While the readme itself is written in Japanese, the list contains the English game names, so there should be no problems checking out which games to try with this new emulator.Translated once again by QJ's own Jeff C., here comes the changelog... Changes in Alpha 2: - BIOS selection is moved into file browser. Press Square button to bring up the selection menu in the file browser. - The help will be displayed only when you start the emulator for the first time (for the change above). - Auto-frame skip is changed to enabled as the default setup. - SRAM and memory card are now not saved when a game fails to start. - Added some fixes that enables some more games that were not supported. Some very large games still cannot be emulated. (Please check the list.txt for the list of games. Part1: games that should be supported; Part2: Games that are not supported now but possible in the next beta; Part3: games that are too large to fit in the PSP memory so still cannot be emulated) * Simplifying the user interface for free up some more memory, some games may become supported this way, but basically this change has little effect. The NeoGeo CDZ Emulator for the PSP has been updated. It has been only a few days since the launch of NJ's NeoGeo CDZ v0.4 beta and here comes another one. Well, I for one don't mind these betas, as long as it guarantees that the emulator is better-tuned as each version is released. Here's the complete list of changelogs: v0.4 Beta 3 - Fixed the random freezing problem in the command list screen - Abandoned the up/down mark to display multiple lines in the command list v0.4 Beta 2 - 12-pixel font removed. All changed to 14-pixel font - With the change above, the font data is completed - You can now configure the initialization startup directory in the file browser. In the file browser, move the cursor onto the directory you want to be set to default and then press Select button to set. - Japanese user interface completed. -For the font data, though it may consume too much memory, the Japanese font is now usable. (The English and Japanese command lists are both displayable now) - Snapshot button in the menu screens changed to Start button v0.4 Beta 1 - Added the support for the command list that is in use for MAME Plus! Please put the command.dat into the same directory with the EBOOT.PBP. Either Japanese or English version is usable. To display the command list, press Select + R. This is just a temporarily button configuration, and may be changed later. (If some of the buttons from the combination were assigned to other actions, they will still be working.) Don't forget to give your own constructive views, comments, and insights to aid our developers, because hey, that's what we all want - better games.
