Our good man PSPJunkie_ at the QJ forums has just announced a homebrew competition that they're hosting. It's the PxP Homebrew Competition and they're going to be accepting entries starting Wednesday, January 17. The contest will only be open to U.S. residents and the grand-prize winner will bag a Neuros MPEG Video Recorder 2. And if they can find more sponsors to fund the prizes, the 2nd- and 3rd-placers will win US$ 50 and US$ 25, respectively. As for the rules, you have to remember that above all, your entry must be completely original (no updates!). Emulators aren't allowed, and any Lua game must have its own eboot. You'll have to make sure your entry has an icon0 and pic0, and must include a splash screen to be provided by PxP. More rules are still being drafted, and PxP should have them all up on the forums shortly. All entries must be submitted within the next two months as the contest ends on March 17. Time to brush up on your coding skills, guys. If you've got any questions, you can either discuss them in our forums, or click the "Read" link below. Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |

All good things have a beginning and an end, unfortunately this little article signifies the end of another wonderful contest made possible by the folks at Neuros, hosted by yours truly at QJ. In any great battle there are winners and losers, unfortunately there could only be one winner this time around, and his name (or digital name) is... Califrag! Congrats dude, well played and thanks to everyone for entering. Califrag's already been contacted for the deets on his shipping info and Neuros will make sure his pleasure bundle finds its way to him post haste. Again, thanks to everyone for entering, don't lose hope if you didn't win, you never know when another contest will just pop up out of nowhere! It's also worth noting that Amazon currently has the Recorder 2 on sale for $99, $30 bucks off the regular price! Christmas Cheer and Yuletidey lurv from the guys at Neuros and the entire QJ network staff. |

So you've been a little naughty this year, maybe Santa isn't exactly thrilled, maybe the red-suited fatman won't be zipping down your chimney to shower you with gifts and yuletide joy, never fear, QJ and Neuros have got your back. You might be thinking we've already given away a few of these, but you'd be wrong (ish) this is a whole different beast. What the guys at Neuros are offering today is the advanced model of the regular Neuros Recorder 2, this is the Neuros Recorder 2 Plus! What that means is that you'll be able to use this swanky little device not only with your PSP, but with your iPod and those new fangled smartphone devices all the cool kids are carting around these days. Click here to find out more about the Recorder 2 Plus. If you happened across our last little shindig where we gave a Recorder 2 away, you'll know the drill, it couldn't be simpler. All you have to do is reply in the comments below while signed into QJ with your site username (register if you haven't got one), once we get all entries, we'll shake the box round, have Jake cut a fancy ribbon and pull a lucky name from the ether. Entries will be accepted until Friday 15th at 9pm CST, so be sure to reply before then. Contest Rules:
As always in these sorts of things, we wish y'all the best of luck. |

Those fine fellas at Neuros are at it again! Turn your back for half a micron and they're offering up yet another great deal. We've already got together with them to give away Recorder 2's in the past, the good news is that it doesn't look like we'll be breaking that tradition any time soon. Put simply, Neuros is giving yet another one of their well reviewed Recorders away to one lucky QJ reader. No contests, no quizzes, no hoops to jump through this time, all you have to do is reply in the comments section below with your registered QJ username for entry, we'll hold a raffle, pull a winner out of the hat and BAM! A Neuros Recorder 2 will be winging its way to you before you can say "John Travolta sucked the life out of Battlefield Earth but Barry Pepper and Forrest Whitaker weren't that bad in it"... or something. Be sure to look over ye olde roolz though:
EDIT: To clarify, you DON'T need to post your QJ forum name, or your email address, we'll be using the name you reply with in the comments below as long as it's a registered QJ site username. |

The Neuros Recorder 2 might be turning one year old in December, but it doesn't diminish the awesomeness of the device. In fact, people who've been looking for an excuse to buy more tech will probably be pleased to hear that the Neuros 2 is once again on sale. We picked up word of another Amazon markdown, and the Neuros was one of the products getting a price reduction. The Neuros is currently being sold for US$ 99.99, and the sale only has two days left. For those who haven't heard of the doohickey, the Neuros Recorder is a mini digital VCR your PSP, iPod Video, cellular phone, or other handhelds. Now, before you start flaming us with sentences like "QJ sucks," or "Woohoo I wanna have ur babyz!" it would be good to note that the Holidays are coming. For the budding video editors out there who want to make skating trick vids while playing Tony Hawk on your PSP, or the gamers who know someone who could use this, it would make a pretty interesting gift. If you wanna grab more information, check out the review we made on it some months back. Just remember: contrary to the comments on the linked article, we're not advertisers. We just have the very bad tendency to sound like them when we're in a drunken stupor while writing. Enjoy! |

Well folks, what began a week ago is officially drawing to a close, after all the entries were tallied (a huuuuge massive ton of entries, thanks to all who sent in answers) and counted, we finally have a winner. A big thanks to the folks at Neuros, they've been really kind sponsoring two wonderful contests in a row with sucessively better prizes. Anyway, I suppose it's time to get to the meat of the matter and let you guys know who the winner is eh? Well, you'll have to find out just who won by clicking to check out the full article below. Also come on in and see pictures sent in by our previous contest winner! |

There's nothing more attractive to your garden variety gamer than free stuff (or a bag of stale Dorito's) so we got together with the people over at Neuros (the guys who made possible our recently concluded NVR2 contest) and hammered out yet another contest offer, a sequel if you will. Like all sequels this one's bigger, badder, leaner, meaner and yes, even greener. The prizes (yup, plural) are even more attractive and you have to do even less work than last time to get to them, uh-huh, answering these questions requires absolutely no creativity or physical exertion whatsoever, as a matter of fact the contest actually relies on your ability to loaf around watching TV and playing videogames all day long. What's on offer this time around? Well, this is a PSP site so one lucky winner will walk away with these goodies:

Just a few weeks ago we got together with the fine folks at Neuros to set up a simple caption competition that would allow one lucky QJ reader to win a Neuros VR unit for themselves. Shortly thereafter we were buried in a veritable flood of entries that we painstakingly (and I mean painstakingly) picked our way through in order to come to three finalists, which you guys voted for. On Friday night (or is that Saturday morning?) the the polls closed and the votes were tallied over the weekend. Seems like we had no clear winner and no one won, so we keep the Recorder for ourselves... I keeeed, I keeed! In actual fact we had a very clear cut winner who smoked the competition with his wit and creativity, none other than Daniel, who submitted this delightful little number: Congrats Daniel, we'll be contacting you shortly for your information and you can bet your brand spanking new Neuros Video Recorder 2 unit will be winging its way to you in no time courtesy of the dudes and dudettes at Neuros. From us all at QJ labs, thanks to all who entered and all those who voted. Till the next comp! |

Just a heads up from your friendly neighborhood bloggers at QJ and the fine folks at Neuros that their excellent Mpeg 4 Recorder 2 device is on sale at Amazon right now for , that's knocked off the regular price and FREE shipping baby! You'll want to hurry on over, the sale won't last very long at all (just a little over a day left!) Now, because we know not everyone can fork over 99 bones at the moment (what with all the PS3 penny pinching going on at the mo) we got together with the dudes at Neuros to offer a free unit to anyone who cares to enter our simple little caption competition. If you're still not sure just whether the little black box is worth it, be sure to take a look at our review of the unit and decide for yourself. |

UPDATE 2: Just a reminder that the contest is still running till tomorrow at 12pm EST. We also wanted to remind you that the pictures you send in need to be from movies, videogames or TV shows, I offer the following lame-O examples from the most hardcore TV show of all time: ORIGINAL ARTICLE Just yesterday we reviewed the Neuros Video Recorder and gave it a hearty thumbs up for its ease of use and flexibility at the end of the review we teased that we'd be letting you guys know how to get your hands on one for free, and we promised that we'd let you know how to win one for free, and that it would be easy. So here are the details folks. Here's what you have to do. Find a humorous screengrab or screenshot from a TV show, movie or videogame and add a caption to it that makes everyone here at the QJ Labs laugh their butts off. That's it, that's all you have to do. But it has to be clever, be smart and above all be funny. I want to see tears streaming down Jake's eyes, I want to see Justin laughing so hard he snorts milk out his nose, just be "teh funny!" Rules and Regulations Yup there are rules, every contest has to have rules, and this one's no different.
Pardon the last minute addition, but sometimes my mind slips and I forget to mention important little details. In this case that would be that the contest is open only to US. Residents. Apologies if you live in Tanzania and have already submitted your entry, but take solace in the thought that it probably made us guffaw. Unless you're the one who sent in the nudie pics, that wasn't funny [ctl/addtoprivatecollection]. The Winnar! The contest will be narrowed down to three finalists by myself and Jake over the weekend, and starting Monday the 25th of September, you'll all be able to vote for the contest winner in a site poll that will run till Monday the 2nd of October. Well that's pretty much it guys, time to get crackin'! Get those creative juices flowing and let's see how hard you can make us all hardy har-har! Good luck to everyone, and many thanks to the guys at Neuros for making this contest possible! |
