Godfather: Mob Wars

The Godfather: Mob Wars is a game that promises to take you deep into America’s most powerful criminal organization- the Corleone Family, headed by Don Vito. Carry out orders, earn respect, rise through the ranks, and make New York City your own. Choose your path to power in the wide-open world of The Godfather by taking on a variety of action-packed missions - from mob hits, bank heists to extortion. Play your cards right and you could become the next - and most powerful - Don of NYC. When we say play your cards right, we literally mean it.

Apparently, the game will have an interesting mesh of card-centric gameplay and story-based third-person action. It's a pretty weird, if not impossible mix, but even the most unpredictable of ideas could work. It seems that two materials will play major roles: cash and cards. With 250 cards in a deck, players will have lots of chances to inflict harm to their rival families. How will players get their cards and cash? They would get it based on their rackets.

The cash will be mainly used for warfare expenses. Cards, on the other hand, have a variety of purposes- such as the respect card which is equivalent to a level up. There's also bribe cards that could temporarily reduce the player's heat from the cops. A favor card will enable players to cash in and take a tactical advantage over the opposition. Players will still be able to take on the role of the same mobster who works his way up the Corleone ranks, but the missions are much easier to pick up, play, and drop.

Details about the story mode is still pretty hazy, but still it's nice to see that game publishers are trying to brew something new for this game. But then again, whether the weird mixture of card-centric gameplay and third-person action would work or not is something that could only be seen when the game is released in September.
