CPS1PSP/CPS2PSP/MVSPSP/NCDZPSP v2.3.1 - for developers - Image 1Those who love using emulators on their Sony PlayStation Portable have definitely a lot to look forward to today. Homebrew coder NJ has just released new builds for his projects CPS1PSP, CPS2PSP, MVSPSP, and NCDZPSP. This brings all the emulators up to version 2.3.1.

While we really can't get anything from the Japanese texts on NJ's personal webpage, we believe that these builds are still on their initial stages because NJ has marked them as "developer's version". CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP emulate Capcom Play System 1 and 2 games on the PSP.

On the other hand, MVSPSP and NCDZPSP allow users to play Neo Geo MVS and Neo GEO CD titles on the Sony handheld. Take all the necessary precautions in using these programs to avoid any problems. If you need more information, click on the Source link below.

It should take you to NJ's release page for the emulators. Take note that, unless you understand Japanese, you will need an online language engine to understand some of the details posted there.

MVSPSP v2.3.0 now with KOF 2003 fix - Image 1NJ has released an update for the recently released build of MVSPSP, his NeoGeo MVS Emulator for the PSP. As the name of his update states, MVSPSP v2.3.0 now has a fix for King of Fighters 2003, allowing it to run properly on the emulator.

Here's the post from NJ, translated through Google Language Tools:

EBOOT.PBP3 species and source code difference. EBOOT.PBP only because of the following: 2.3.0 Each of the files to download, please use the override.

2.3.0 is compatible AdHoc and rendering software rendering in conjunction with the memory usage is increasing, thanks, but Experiment for private building, the per absolutely consider it. 2.2.4 these features are not just like me, so you use, or 2.3.0 AdHoc to disable, RELEASE flag to enable the compilation would slightly increase the available memory.

2.2.4 is generally safe for the creation of the 2.3.0 is like, for an experiment by adding code and the code itself is old. Using the API did not AdHoc and implementation of the samples to the public only in the update is performed. Remodeling and corrections are welcome, so please do continue.

In any event, here's the latest version of MVSPSP, along with the source codes. Take care with the installation of the application, and enjoy this handy emulator!

NJ updates all his emulators - Image 1With the month of October ending in a couple of days, it looks like developer NJ has decided to do some last-minute updating. The coder has just released version 2.3.0 of all of his homebrew emulators (CPS2PSP, CPS1PSP, MVSPSP, and NCDZPSP) along with a new set of updates.

For those asking, CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP are emulators that allow you to play games originally run on the Capcom Play System 1 and 2 arcade boards on your PSP. MVSPSP will run games originally meant for the NeoGeo MVS, while NCDZPSP will run games from the NeoGeo CD console. Moving on, here's NJ's latest changelog (translated via Babelfish) since version 2.2.3:
  • Sound processing is modified. The Q sound of CPS becomes output in 24KHz fixing, it is not possible to modify frequency. (API which has not been recorded before the header of PSPSDK is used. Referring to details the forum of PS2Dev. )
  • Deleting the option of luster effect from CPS2PSP.
  • Jointly using software rendering with MVSPSP and NCDZPSP. Load reduction of line scroll and the like.
  • Attendant upon description above, renewing romcnv_mvs.exe for MVSPSP. Being there is no compatibility in cash file, please recreate.
  • In addition, has not been remembered how many experimental modification which?
We advice would-be users to be extra careful in handling these emulators, given that NJ's readme files are all in Japanese. You may want to get a Japanese literate friend to help in the installation process. Enjoy the download!

PSP Slim - Image 1QJ.NET reader CJ has pointed us towards a new homebrew release from Chilly Willy and CaptShoe. The collaboration between ChillyWilly and CaptShoe has resulted in Snes9xTYL 0.4.2 ME for the PSP Slim, an update of the non-ME PSP Slim version AhMan released a while back. Here's the changelog:
  • Ported to use 3.xx compatible MediaEngine library.
  • Fixed button detection in key redefine screen when map analog to pad is enabled.
  • Sound issues reduced, but not entirely. This would require more time.
  • L+R functionality replaced by Home button. To quit, tap Home twice.
  • The time to get back to the XMB should now be decreased. Homehook.prx courtesy of NJ.
  • Simplified welcome message with the ability to disable completely.
  • Option to turn off intro animation.
  • New snesadvance.dat (speedhacks) by Illegal Machine and Warkobo. Thanks!
  • New XMB graphics.
Aside from bringing SNES emulation goodness to the PSP Slim, this SNES emulator also works fine on old PlayStation Portables. According to Chilly Willy, this version is hardcoded to run at 333 MHz since the PSP Slim hangs when you change the CPU speed while MediaEngine is running.

This version of Snes9xTYL also burns up a lot of juice. Chilly Willy says that "sleep mode has been disabled since sleep would have done nothing at all". Both the CPU speed change and the battery drain issues are being worked on and should be fixed in a later release.

Please read the documentation files included in the download before installing this application.

CPS1PSP, CPS1PSP v2.2.3 - Homehook.prx process modifications - Image 1Homebrew developer NJ has just rolled out new builds for some of his PSP-compatible emulators CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP bringing them up to version 2.2.3. The first one lets users run Capcom PlayStation 1 games on the Sony handheld while the second one is for titles released on Capcom PlayStation 2.

We translated the changelog for version 2.2.3 using an online language engine and listed them down below. Take note that some of these changes also apply to upcoming builds for emulators MVSPSP (Neo Geo MVS) and NCDZPSP (Neo Geo CD):
  • MVSPSP and NCDZPSP timer process once before to return, MAME 0.119 based on the change in the modification. UNIVERSE BIOS is the same as in previous work now.
  • MVSPSP NCDZPSP the rendering process and made changes to the old (missing was because the source is found). A more accurate rendering will be a 000 - lo.lo is required.
  • CPS1PSP ROM loads using the array size is too small a part of the game is to successfully query bug fixes.
  • CPS1PSP the above corrections, the psp - gcc - 4.1.0 compile because a slightly faster.
  • Homehook.prx process modifications. Home button reading interval to increase the load losses.
  • Many other changes.
Download links for version 2.2.3 of MVSPSP and NCDZPSP are still not yet available because it seems that NJ is still working on them. Users of CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP, however, can now update to the latest versions. Be sure that you know what you're doing when installing these programs on your PSP to avoid any problems.

Game emulators for your PSP! - Image 1It looks like emulation fans have something nice in store for them today. NJ has released a new version of all of his emulators, with a couple of tweaks for each of that fans should find interesting.

Without further ado, here's a Google translation of the notes NJ has added onto his current releases:
  • Way it draws UI at everything GU, modification.
  • English integrating the binary of edition and Japanese edition. When the indicatory language of PSP itself is Japanese, with Japanese, the other than of that is English.
  • With PSP-2000 the Home button was made enabled. The time before you open the menu similarly with the Home button.
  • Because the clear range of VRAM when initializing by mistake was, correction. Whether this was unstable with cause.
  • CPS2PSP/MVSPSP: When with PSP-2000 it sleeps, because there were times when portion of graphics is destroyed correction.
  • CPS1PSP: When it compiles with psp-gcc-4.1.0, because it cannot start [supamatsusuruboma], way psp-gcc-4.0.2 is used, modification.
  • CPS1PSP: Because there was the ROM set which has forgotten to correspond with final fighting spirit correction.
  • CPS1PSP: Because there was a problem in drawing of the stars layer, correction.
  • MVSPSP/NCDZPSP: Interruption processing of picture modification to up-to-date MAME wind.
  • In addition detailed bug correction and the like.
In addition to these helpful notes given by NJ, you would also best be served by being very careful in your installation of the emulators, as there isn't an English translation of the Readme files in sight. In any case, we're sure you'll get a kick out of trying these new emulator builds out.

Good luck with installation, and enjoy your games!
