I really gotta hand it to the various coders working on JPCSP. They've done some rather excellent work on this Java-based PSP emulator, and it seems they're showing no signs of slowing down. This week alone we saw three revisions pass through these pages. Same thing with everybody working on bringing more and more homebrew to the PSP-3000. A pair of 3000-centric homebrew apps were released this week as well, including one that let CFWEnabler users to play PSX games. Read on for the rest of the PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior.

Homebrew coder NickyP has released MegaMan: The Power War Episode 1, an 8-bit OpenBOR mod based on the MegaMan Power Battle/Fighters games. The game features five characters with each character having a helper that can be called for attack 2 and more.

Just after the release of OpenBoR v3.0 Build 2244 that adds SecurePAK support, here comes a new mod for OpenBor that was 1 and a half years in the making. Presenting Night Slashers X by BonusJZ,  an OpenBor mod of  the classic horizontally scrolling beat'em up arcade game that was released in 1994.

A new update for OpenBOR has been released by SX. The open source game engine that lets you mod and enjoy 2D side-scrolling fighting games based on Beats of Rage is now updated to build 2244. The new build adds SecurePAK support as well as some new features.

Homebrew coder SX has released another new version of OpenBOR. The open-source homebrew beat-'em-up engine is now up at build 2227-a, which adds a few more fixes to the stuff that build 2227 carried with it.

NickyP has dropped us a line informing us about his new OpenBOR mod based on Phantasy Star Online. It's still in early demo form and there's only one playable stage right now, but it's looking pretty good so far.

We've seen quite a few OpenBOR games on these pages over the past months, but have you ever wondered about the engine that runs these games? If so, then today's your lucky day since a new OpenBOR build has recently been released.

So what do we have for this week's big homebrew releases? Well, there's a new version of Daedalus X64, for one. For those who use their PSPs for a lot of media viewing, there's also a new PSP Video Converter release. Game-wise, we have one of the most addictive games to come out in a while (more so if you're a Final Fantasy fan): an OpenBOR game featuring characters from the first Final Fantasy game. But enough talk. On to the recap!

I haven't tried this one out for myself yet, but being an 8-bit Theatre fan I'm pretty sure I'm gonna enjoy it. This game demo from NickyP is a fighting game based on Final Fantasy I using the OpenBOR engine. Details after the link.
