Optimus Prime and his gang are just about to reach the silver screen, which could only mean one thing for gamers - its multiplatform tie-in, Transformers: The Game is right around the corner. Daniel Suarez, Activision's Executive Producer for the game, sat down with Gamespot to share more info on this upcoming title.
First off, he gave a rundown on the movie's story. Three guys running into giant robots, yada yada. The game won't stray too much from the original plot, but there will be some twists and turns. Instead of focusing on humans, the Transformers will be taking the spotlight. Also, taking a different angle, the games will show what would've happened if the bad guys win. As we all know, good guys always win; it's no different in the movie. Suarez continued as he shared a bit about their history, how the movie guys got in touch with the teams involved in developing the game. "This game is gonna be so cool," he quoted the CG guys as he mentioned how skilled their developers are. He also mentioned the voice actors, some coming from the original animated series. Check out the interview for yourself, to see some pretty awesome footage along the way. |

For starters, players will get to choose whether they want to play as the heroic Autobots or the nefarious Decepticons. Both sides have a wide array of Transformers icons such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream and many more. Switching from vehicle to robot form will be almost seamless in order to adapt to whatever the situation calls for. Environments, as expected, will be fully destructible to up the sense of sheer, mindless mayhem. For those who would like to play with more of a thinking style, they can pretend to use on-screen objects to their advantage and be very proud. Hasbro and Dreamworks also revealed that the PSP version will have 20 playable characters with unique stats, abilities, personalities and more. |

Optimus Prime and Megatron are all set for a happy reunion for the multiplatformer game version of the classic 80s cartoon, Transformers. The voice actors, that is.
Yep, it's been confirmed. Prime voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker have given their nods to reprise their roles as Autobots leader, Optimus Prime, and Decepticons head bot, Megatron for Transformers: The Game. And it was a very smart decision to make on the part of Activision, indeed. Says Activision's production head Laird Malamed, "As Transformers fans, we knew the importance of having the well-known voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron in the game." Transformers: The Game is set to head out to retail stores this summer, with Traveller's Tales doing the work for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, and PC version. Meanwhile, Savage Entertainment is working at the helm for the PlayStation Portable version, and Vicarious Visions is responsible for the development of the DS versions. So, while those companies are still busy tuning up them bots for Transformers: The Game, why don't you go check out this clip from the original Transformers series, where Optimus Prime and Megatron engages in a heated up battle? With the 80's rock music having that cheesy signature 80s lead guitar riffs playing in the background, this is sure to be one big blast from the past. |

We've already informed you folks that Transformers: The Game will be available for the PSP this summer and is set to be heavily based on the upcoming movie by DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures. Given that the poster for the DreamWorks flick has Michael Bay prominently displayed as the movie's director, we're not entirely sure how loyal the film will be to the cartoon that we all love. PSP World reports that the good news is that the PSP version (being developed by Savage) will allow you to select from 20 playable Autobots and Decepticons, including fan favourites such as: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, and "I die from one blast to the chest" Ironhide. Other gameplay features for the PSP version are not clear at present but reports say that there are ad hoc/infrastructure multiplayer elements and bot customization features included. Reports also say that the key features will be similar to the PS3 version that will be out at the same time frame. Will the game be great? We're certainly hoping for it. We'll keep you updated as soon as more details about the game are made public. |

Thanks to Mof and Optimus Prime, we've got yet another fun issue of PSP Galaxy, which brings us more news, reviews, and their own funny little blurbs, all in a neat little package for your PSP. In addition to information on the Crisis Core game based on Final Fantasy VII, the two intrepid writers have brought us a ton of gaming goodness. In this issue, they've given the mag a makeover and a pretty interesting apocalyptic feature article, which talks about a world without a PSP. Scary! They've also offered up some reviews of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, a PSP port of the PS1's Valkyrie Profile, as well as Tenchu: Time of the Assassins. Anyway, what are you waiting for?
