On Shelves This Week - Image 1Minus the digital downloads, this has to be one of the smallest batches we've seen on On Shelves. Talk about a dry batch - no AAA titles in this lineup. Anyway, there's still ArmA II for the PC if you're a die-hard FPS fan, or if you're a baseball fan, 2K Sports' The Bigs is also coming out this week. For the other two titles, read on for this edition of On Shelves This Week.

King of Clubs available this August - Image 1Video game title King of Clubs is one of the more elusive titles out there. Elusive in the sense that Oxygen Games has been quite mum about its gameplay and background story. All we know right now is that it involves a theme park somewhere down Route 66 in virtual Nevada.

Basically, it's a puzzle game with Oxygen now claiming that it'll be focusing more in the game of golf. To be able to complete a variety of puzzles across five themes on more than 95 holes, players must collect, unlock, buy, and hire rewards. These then will be used to build up equipments (in your own theme park perhaps?) and skills.

"We've managed to take the mental challenge traditionally associated with puzzle games, and create a fresh, really quirky social experience that's perfect for the way people play games today," commented Oxygen Interactive Publishing Director Kevin Hassall.

Each level has a boss whom players must defeat in order to advance. Of course, the culmination of the game is your ultimate showdown with Big Bubba himself. King of Clubs will also be offering multiple game modes and the choice of matchplay or stroke play for up to four players. This can be played using either a multi-tap or sharing two controllers.

King of Clubs will be available this coming August on platforms Games for Windows (PC), Wii, PlayStation Portable (PSP), DS, and PlayStation 2 (PS2).

Intellectual property owner Bubba King announced last February that his theme park located in the Nevada desert is currently under renovation and will be re-opened sometime in June of this year. King also mentioned that to celebrate the occasion, a video game titled King of Clubs will be released for platforms Wii, Nintendo DS (DS), PlayStation Portable (PSP), PlayStation 2 (PS2), and Games for Windows (PC).

If you're curious about the game, then you're in luck because Big Bubba himself just provided a few exciting features for King of Clubs. The video game is set in the said theme park that promises to become a thriving tourist attraction once it opens. As for gameplay, the title is a mix between action and puzzle genres which will entail players to use trickery and wit.

Furthermore, Bubba King revealed that the title will sport vintage Americana graphics and soundtrack, a most suiting choice to compliment the hot and enchanting Nevada desert. The game has 96 levels, including 10 multi-level challenges, plus bonus areas, and a slew of various in-game gadgets. King of Clubs will also offer a "humorous" multiplayer mode.

King of Clubs is being prepared by Oxygen Interactive. The Wii and PC versions of the game will be available on July 20. The handheld versions will follow shortly. The game will be priced at 24.99 GBP or roughly around US$ 49.

Oxygen Interactive will be releasing a new game called King of Clubs. Interesting folks Bubba King (intellectual property owner) and his attorney Vincent Smith gave a quick overview of the game.

Bubba King is the owner of the theme park which is currently under renovation for major revamping, brought about by an additional investment courtesy of King's father. According to him, the improvements are comparable to the animatronics of "Gymnastic" Park. Both the owner and his lawyer gave an assurance though that safety reviews are also underway, since the county sheriff closed down the park "following last year’s tragedy".

The park's reopening will be celebrated with a hog roast and the game being developed by Oxygen Interactive called King of Clubs (all these according to Mr. King again). The King of Clubs will be featuring King's theme park with all its sights and rides. This will be available for the DS, PSP, PS2, and Wii. According to Bubba King, the game will allow players "to try out all the dee-lights of our park before ya come and visit. It’ll all be inna there, the pigs on sticks, the ter-ree-fying sharks, that little caveman dude and all."

King of Clubs is up for release on June this year. We'll keep you updated on this new party game so keep checking back.

Is there anyone else here who doesn't own a PSP? Dude, if you're reading a PSP blog, chances are, you've already got one (maybe even two - one used for homebrew, the other with continuous firmware updates). But whether or not you have the said handheld, no one's stopping you for getting one.

Kikizo is making someone's new year even brighter by giving away a ceramic-white PSP unit in their contest. The winner gets not just a brand new PSP but also the latest golf-sim from Oxygen Interactive ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007.

What formats is ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007 available for, besides PSP?

A) PC, PS2, Xbox

B) Xbox 360, Virtual Boy
C) Dreamcast, GBA, SNES
D) DS, Lynx, Game Gear

That seems easy enough. I'd put my bets on D. Maaaan, you can never go wrong with Game Gear. Hahaha! If you know the real answer, just click on the "Read" link below and swing over to check the rest of the contest mechanics.

In our last update for ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007, we brought you guys the TV ad for the game -- which (and we think we can all agree here) didn't really give significant info about the game other than the release date. Personally, I doubt we'd gather more info about the game from a buncha screens!

If you were pissed at the TV ad, you don't have to complain no more 'coz we have with us right now a whole buncha screens that'll actually let you see how the game will look on your precious handhelds. Showcasing the landscape of Phoenix Heights, you'll see Juan (exotic golfer with an equally exotic name) teeing off in the flats and stumps with every par and hole. The screens also show a bit of info on the game's controls.

Just a few more days left before the game hits the shelves so we recommend you brush up on your ProStroke knowledge by checking out the screens below. ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007 is set to tee off on your PSP's come November 10th.

pspboxartWhile it's all too easy to come up with tons of sexual puns for the game's title (ProStroke, and what with all the balls and clubs), we'll keep those thoughts to ourselves and try to keep things clean. Just give us a few seconds to filter out the puns: 5...4...3...2...1.

Alright, let's talk about ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007's TV stint instead, shall we?

So. Xbox and PS2 users have already cried "Fore", and now, ProStroke Golf has teed off on TV as well! Today we show you guys the official TV ad for ProStroke, where they got people from various golf magazines to comment on the game. Naturally, one of the commenters just HAD to describe the game as a "stroke of genius".

Anyhoo, the 30-second ad doesn't really reveal anything about the game itself, you just have a few magazines giving their comments (in phrases) about the game and hyping it up. Well, you guys know how the whole television business works so that's that. But if you do wanna see the ad, we've put it up for download below. ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007 is set to hit the shelves on November 10th.

Crash DummyWhile it has been months since something was heard from the exploding car people, the crash dummies can not be forgotten easily as they always carry with them sweet, tender memories of childhood days now long gone. Sniff.

Not to despair though, Twelve Interactive and Schanz International Consultants (SIC) have some good news today regarding the newest reincarnation of the game, Crash Dummy V.S. The Evil D-Troit.

The Italy-based game developer is pleased to announce that the game has finally found publishing homes in the U.K. Yep, you read it right - homes. Plural. This is so since Crash Dummy is crashing (pun intended) not only on the PSP, but on the Wii, DS and the PC as well. SIC's Gerhard Schanz also mentions that negotiations between them and Microsoft are currently taking place. "We are also in discussions to put up the title on 360 live arcade," shares Schanz.

Accordingly, the PC version is licensed to Lexicon Entertainment while the other versions were welcomed by Oxygen Interactive Software LTD. Just a few information are known about Crash Dummy Vs The Evil D-Troit as of now and one of which is that it would be using Vicious Engine with it's built-in physics module.

While the word is that ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007 isn't slated for release until this November 10, Oxygen Interactive isn't about to leave the waiting fans gasping for news on this soon-to-be released game title, and were kind enough to release some screenies for us to enjoy as we count down to launch day. These are pics of the Belfry and Lake Nona maps.

The Belfry, or De Vere Belfry as its full name is, is located in England and owned by the Irish billionaire Sean Quinn, "The Belfry" being the more common name. It currently has three golf courses:
  • The Brabazon Course
  • The PGA National Course
  • The Derby Course
Lake Nona's located in Orlando, Florida, is also the namesake of the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club, being one competitors in the highly-acclaimed Tavistock Cup, which began just two years ago in 2004. Well, on to the greens!
