This news is just about to fire up more theories regarding the much-desired PSP Phone. Sony has just been awarded patent rights for a "hand-held [sic] device with touchscreen and digital tactile pixels." While there's nothing in it to clearly indicate this is for a PSP Phone, it still feeds our imaginations something mighty, don't it? Read more after the jump. |

Crank up that GDC lever and let's go full throttle. Our weekly Franken-update of sorts is complete with a hodge podge of proverbial limbs, tissue, and... fishies. There's some corporate politicking on the side, with more brew-waggling releases for consoles. Game length seemed to matter much for God of War's Kratos and GTA4's Niko Bellic, because as some of you might consider, size does matter - no, not that kind of size. Time for another wild ride! |

Amidst the hectic Tokyo Game Show 2007 events, GameSpot UK was able to sit down and chat with Sony Worldwide Studios president Phil Harrison during Sony's press party, and they discussed about the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. It's no secret that the Nintendo Wii is experiencing healthier sales than the more expensive PS3, but Harrison is not worried about it. "Obviously I would like it to be the other way round," he said, before saying that it's unfair to compare "two products that serve different markets and are at different price points." Sony, however, is not backing down. In the casual gamer market, Harrison pointed at EyeToy, SingStar and Buzz! and mentioned how support for those on the PS2 will remain strong. Meanwhile, he said the PS3 will get games and support in new, networked, and innovative ways. The gaming giant also has a research and development group that will continue to brainstorm and create new peripherals for the PS3. Harrison seems quite confident with the PS3 despite negative criticism about the costly machine, as he believes that the "tremendous lineup of really great games" will do the talking. When asked about the reason behind PSP Slim & Lite, Harrison told GameSpot that making something smaller and lighter is crucial in designing a handheld device. "Constant improvement and innovation in design is what drives us," he said, which explains the revamped PSP. |
