Yaroze - Image 1After 12 years, Sony is about to pull the plug on its Yaroze program, which made console development available to aspiring non-professionals. Through this service, subscribers received access to an online community, development software, as well as a very rare black PlayStation One console that allowed devs to run their own code on the system.

PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1It's leaner than the past couple of weeks' hauls, but we did see some great homebrew releases this week. After a long time of inactivity, Yoshihiro burst right back onto the homebrew scene with a work-in-progress showing of his 5.50 debug firmware for PSP-1000s. OK, not really a release but it's a start. Homebrew gaming, meanwhile, was mostly dominated by one update after another for Light Cycle 3D, a beautiful-looking 3D homebrew game that brings Tron's light cycle racing to the PSP in 3D. Read on for the rest of the PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior!

Wild Arms 2 - Image 1Yep, you're not imagining it. That's really an ESRB page showing its rating for Wild Arms 2, and coming to the PlayStation Network to be made available to both the PS3 and the PSP.

PlayStation Store - Image 1Mark this day, folks, because this is the day Metal Gear Solid officially sets its virtual foot onto the PSOne Classics service. At US$ 10, it's a steal if you just wanna play it. I've seen brand new boxed copies of this game being sold for almost US$ 200. No kidding. Also included in this update are a bunch of new Rock Band and Guitar Hero World Tour tracks. I have a softer spot for the former's picks, though, since it includes Spinal Tap songs. Gotta watch that movie again. It never gets old. Crank that dial up to 11 and check out the full list of new Store items after the jump.

PSOne Classics - Image 1The ESRB's ratings page has done a bang-up job lately of giving us an idea of what big games are coming to the PSOne Classics service next. We saw Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid and we got 'em (although the latter is still launching this week), so there's no reason to believe that this new entry in the listings is bogus.

PlayStation Store update - Image 1With the midweek PlayStation Store update brought about by the Electronic Entertainment Expo, this week's regular Store update isn't as big as the others. Doesn't matter though, this new batch has game demos like the one for Fight Night Round 4 (Xbox 360 and PS3), plus new downloadable game releases. No Guitar Hero here this time, but there are some for Rock Band: Unplugged. Update list coming right up.
