Homebrew developer zx-81 seems to be tying down lot of homebrew releases lately. After finalizing PSPSIM, PSP7800, and PSPAtari, the Sony PlayStation Portable coder now offers the final version of PSPColem - the PSP's ColecoVision Emulator - now at version 1.1.1. Aside from a single bug fix, PSPColem v1.1.1 also comes with several performance refinements and feature sets.Download: PSPColem v1.1.1 final (3.xx) Download: PSPColem v1.1.1 final (1.50) Download: PSPColem v1.1.1 source code Visit: zx-81's Homebrew Releases in QJ.Net's Forums |

PSP homebrew developer Zx-81 is at it once more, and he's bringing us some sweet, sweet retro action on the go with his latest version of PSPColem, the ColecoVision emulator for the Sony PlayStation Portable. This update brings the PSP homebrew emulator to version 1.1.0.Armed with a number of improvements, this updated version now also has a neat feature of saving and displaying thumbnails for each of your save states. Handy, for those of us who like to save multiple times, like just before a boss fight or the point of a game where you broke your own best score. Let's take a gander at the changelog and see what's new from the last version. What's new in version 1.1.0:

Zx-81 has released version 1.0.9 of PSPColem. The new version runs on custom firmwares 3.x and the PSP Slim & Lite. For those of you unfamiliar with the program, it's a port for the program ColEm, an emulator for the ColecoVision video game system whose more famous games include the all-time favorite gorilla Donkey Kong.As always, users are encouraged to take a look at the readme file included in the file before using the application. The installation instructions and other important notes are in the readme, so be sure to check it. Homebrew developer Zx-81 has also provided the source code, which is also available for download below. Here's the changelog for PSPColem version 1.0.9:

Months have already passed and the year has already turned over to 2007, and yet the past is still catching up with us. The ColecoVision gaming console of prehistoric era (circa 1982) is still very much alive despite popular belief.
Zx-81 is back after a temporary hiatus from the homebrew community and has now released an update of his homebrew emulator, thus pitching it up to PSPColEm v1.0.7. Here's the full changelog:
All you ever need to know is on the readme file and sources are even included in the archive. Zx releases this under the GNU public license - you can check the copying.txt for more info on that. Finally, we'd like to get the attention of PSP newbies who got PSPs for Christmas: Welcome to the PSP community! Check out the FAQs, Guides, and Tutorials at our forums. You might want to take a close look at the Guides: General PSP for general PSP stuff (like figuring out the version of "firmware" you have in your PSP), and then you can get into homebrew by reading the threads in the Guides: Hacks, Homebrew and Emulators forum. Recommended reading includes the ULTIMATE Homebrew Guide and the The Ultimate QJ Guide. Download: [PSPColEm v1.0.7] |

With the discontinuation of PSPVBA, Zx-81 has had time to update his other emulator projects, adding some of the refinements first achieved in PSPVBA to make his other emulators faster and more practical. With PSPAtari being updated yesterday, Zx has moved on to update another one of his emulators, this time for the ColecoVision video game system. PSPColem is a port of Marat Fayzullin's Colem, a program which emulates the ColecoVision videogame system. It's running on FreeBSD, HP-UX, SunOS, Solaris, Linux, as well as other Unix systems, and with the help of everyone's favourite emulator coder Zx-81, on the PSP. Here's the changelog for PSPColem v1.0.6:

I actually remember this gaming console! My brother and I usually fight about what game to play - I want to play Cabbage Patch Kids and he wants to play Zaxxon. Oh well, the days of my chillhood...sigh! That is why to me (and to lots of people), this is always welcome news! Zx-81 has again updated his homebrew emulator - the PSPColem. If you have no idea what this is, PSPColem is a Coleco Vision Emulator for the PSP. If you aren't familiar with Coleco Vision, it is a second-gen gaming console released by Coleco around 1982. Anyways, going back to Zx-81's PSPColem, the updated version (v1.0.5) is only a minor update and according to the good homebrew developer, the new thing about this one is that he added second joystick support, and everything you have to know is in the README.txt file that is included in the file you are gonna download at...where else? DL.QJ! There's always room for improvement when it comes to homebrew emulators, and surely, Zx-81 will appreciate constructive opinions and criticisms so that he can improve this emulator of his. This is crazy! Zx-81 has just updated his PSPMSX MSX emulator to version 1.0.2 today. And no, you don't have triple vision - this is Zx-81's third release in one day! First Zx updated his PSPColem Colecovision emulator, then his PSPInt Intellivision emulator, and now his PSPMSX MSX emulator! This version of PSPMSX adds an exit menu, a Load/Save/Del states menu, and changes the default MSX model to MSX2+ (which can be changed by editing the configuration file pspmsx.cfg). PSPMSX comes packaged with both 1.0 and 1.5 binaries along with the source, and comes under the GNU public licence. Read the README.txt and COPYING.txt for more information. Zx-81 has done it again by updating his PSPColem ColecoVision emulator for the PSP up to version 1.0.4 today. PSPColem was the original ColecoVision emulator for the PSP, and this is the fourth release of this great homebrew emulator! PSPColem v1.0.2 now features full sound support so you can reminisce on those ColecoVision days with authenticity. Save-game support was added in version 1.0.3, and this version features a bug fix related to the keyboard. The keyboard files are now also properly loaded. PSPColem comes packaged in both 1.0 (for eLoader) and 1.5 binary versions, so pretty much any firmware can use it - except 2.7 of course! Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] Download: [PSPColem v1.0.4] |

ZX-81 has created a new version of the Colecovision Emulator for PSP, called PSPColem v1.0.3New features include: - Add Load/Save/Del states menu - Add .col as valid extention for rom files - Emulator configuration now loads properly on startup. Instructions are included in the README.txt file, as well as sources. The package is under the GNU public licence, so the developer asks users to read COPYING.txt file for more information. Barring the discovery of major bugs, this version should be the last. Download: [PSPColem v1.0.3] |
