God of War: Chains of Olympus screenshots - Image 1

For mythology geeks, Helios is the god who drove Apollo's chariot. In Ready At Dawn and Sony Computer Entertainment's upcoming PlayStation Portable video game, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Helios is another level like Attica and Tartarus. We saw Attica, or at least parts of it, in the demo disc while we had a glimpse of Tartarus via screenshots.

We've got some screenshots from PSP Fanboy of the said level and they look great. We see Kratos showing what he's made off, plus we also see the skill he gets from battling the Persian King in the demo. Also, Kratos spells out pain to a horde of horned enemies and then some.

Check out the screenshots and see what we mean. Stay tuned for more God of War: Chains of Olympus news and info.

Earthworm Jim wriggles into the backburner - Image 1For those who were waiting for Atari's reincarnation of the classic Earthworm Jim for the PSP, you guys might just have to wait a tad bit longer. Yeah, we know some of you have been wriggling for Jim's freedom into the handheld scene for quite some time now, but as PSPFanboy reports, the game is now put on hold.

They contacted Atari's Alissa Bell about the status of Earthworm Jim and she believed that the game "is off the roster. May be revisited in the future, but the title is, as I hear it, on hold."

O snap. This, especially after David Perry's hopeful statement at the GDC 2007? What we need now is a reason why Jim's taking a rest. And until then, we're putting this in the proverbial can of worms with the Rumor label. If all goes well though, maybe we can dig something up and give you guys updates as they come along.

The Monster Hunter Fest - Image 1

Famitsu reports that a whole throng of people showed up for the recent Monster Hunter Portable 2nd tournament held in Tokyo. If you look at the image above you'll also notice something. For those of you with testosterone, look, girl gamers (the one with the pony-tail and the mickey mouse bag) with PSPs!

Primal instincts aside, PSP Fanboy reports that the attendance for that tournament was around 6,500 people. A mighty impressive figure. Based on the images that were on the Famitsu, there was an art gallery, side games that offered prizes, and even a corner for the Monster Hunter card game. There was even a developer "Q and A corner" where 4 people from the production team answered questions from the fans in attendance.

Capcom notes that "Monster Hunter Fest" will continue and more tournaments will be held in Osaka, Sapporo, and Nagoya. The finals will be on the 10th of June, and will happen to Tokyo.

Yes, those who have their issues with the game (camera control, etc.) would say that if the game had infrastructure support, the need to meet up with other systems physically wouldn't be needed. However huge gatherings like this are not only fun, but also emphasize the popularity of the franchise, highlighting the user-base that the PSP has.

For more info on the event, feel free to head to the lengthy Famitsu report yourselves. Just run the "VIA" link below through an online translation engine of your choice (Google, Babelfish, etc...) and see for yourselves if you can survive the Engrish.

PS-P Battery Charger - Image 1

Not really news, but it can still be something that can amuse and delight the gadget-needy among you folks. PSPFanboy alerts the world to the existence of a PSP-shaped external battery charger. Behold the cuteness:

The PS-P PlayStation Portable Battery Charger, while oh so cute, and oh so handy when it comes to charging your battery, is a bit difficult to nab at retail at the moment. PSPFanboy notes though that one should be able to get one at Amazon, it'll cost you around US$ 30.

Our Via link below should lead to a rough translation of PSP GadgetZ's report on the item. Head to it if your patience for "engrish" is high, and if you're really curious about this trinket's specifications.

You can't play games with the thing, but at least your PSP now gets a mini-me that helps when it comes to charging spare batteries.

The Warriors graffiti ad? - Image 1

Okay, first off, it's either Rockstar is pulling off a Sony advertising boo-boo OR one fanboy decided to do it for them. Yes boys and girls, what you're seeing above is a graffiti ad (if we could still call it that) for The Warriors spotted by PSPFanboy's Andrew Yoon whilst walking along downtown New York.

If you could still remember back in January last year, graffiti ads were found all over the walls of various U.S. cities (and even Amsterdam) to promote the PSP - much to the dismay of locals who got irate upon seeing the ads. During that whole fiasco, there was the issue of whether Sony really was responsible for the ads popping up or whether they were just mere "fandalisms" that the company wasn't aware of.

Same thing applies here. Although Rockstar isn't exactly the type of company to worry over such things (hello, GTA lawsuits?), the fact that the company's office is located in NYC could fan the possible flames they might get from such sightings. But whether this is the company's doing or just some random fanboy vandalizing the streets of NY for kicks, no one knows for sure. One thing you could say though, Rockstar couldn't get any more 'street' than this. Harhar.

Dueling Analogs comic

A comic is a comic is a comic. This seems to be the underlying message of this make-up between Dueling Analogs and PSPFanboy. Yeah, so we may take our passions rather seriously (and sometimes overly so), but still, there's nothing like a sincere apology to sweeten the bitterness. Let bygones be bygones.

This particular comic is Dueling Analogs's way of showing appreciation to PSPFanboy for putting up articles on their site about them. He also then takes the opportunity to set the record straight: he does think the PSP is a good system. It's just made some bad mistakes--at least for him. His main gripe "is that the games are not designed for portable, but for console play...the PSP has games that require longer time to play per sitting."

Well, everyone's got their own tastes to suit. But, as said earlier, if bygones be let bygones, then all's well that ends well.
