The Japan-only PSP title Evangelion: Jo made waves this week not because of its gameplay or anything, but because of a new anti-CFW feature built into it. It's not exactly new since there have been other PSP games that implemented CFW checks before, but it does drive home the point that developers are taking it into their own hands to keep PSP piracy at bay. Not sure how long the protection on the game will last though. The homebrew scene generally gets fired up even more when stuff like this comes out. Read on for a recap of the week in homebrew.

Homebrew developer Nick Swardh has release a quick fix update for his PSP video converter. The latest version of PSPVC fixes a DirectX check-bug and corrected some issues that were introduced in the previous release.

A lot of applications made for the ChickHEN homebrew enabler were released this week, and arguably the one that made the most noise was Xenogears and Becus25's Custom Firmware Enabler. Developer Nick Swardh dropped us a line to inform us of the latest release of PSPVC, the homebrew app of choice for converting your vids for the PSP. A whole bunch of new features were added to this version, including some new filter options and the ability to add your own watermarks to the video. Changelog after the link.

You can't expect a few days to go by without an update from Nick Swardh, oh, no siree. The latest PSPVC v3.44 has been released for all your video converting needs for the PSP. Now it's got an updated FFmpeg engine and a host of bugfixes.

Nick Swardh has graciously informed us that a new version has been rolled out for his PSP homebrew app, the PSP Video Converter. This release now ups the development to version 3.43, and involves a whole lot of bug-squishing.

Finally, developer Nick Swardh has released v3.42 for his PSP homebrew app, PSPVC. Now those of you who's been bugged by the bugs from the previous version will be the  most to benefit from this as it's a bug-fix release.
