PSX2PSP v1.3 - Image 1PSX2PSP lets you play your old PSX titles to your Sony PSP using a simple interface. With the previous build in mind, veteran homebrew coder KingSquitter decided that no more updates will be done, rather, just minor bug fixes. Screenshot - Image 1 KingSquitter is letting everybody know that PSX2PSP popstation GUI application has just been upgraded to version 1.2, and is now available for downloading. Given the amount of popularity Popstation is getting - albeit the complicated controls interface - we're sure the gamers are just as happy with Popstation GUI's like these which provide for a more user-friendly control surface.

Fixes for this particular GUI include are a bug fix in popstation.dll, and added effects to customized icons. As for the full changelog:

  • Fixed bugs in popstation.dll.
  • Added effects to customized icons (see screenshot to the right).
  • I've attached pics.zip. It contains Theme_white.psd and cIcon0.psd.
  • I've also attached Theme_editor.zip. It contains a simple theme editor and src for the theme editor. (When using the theme editor, save often and take backup of layout.ini)
Take note that this will be the final update to this homebrew app, with further tweaks meant to fix future bugs. With that said, KingSquitter is also letting everybody know about a possible release of the app's source code. For now, we hope you enjoy the application, after going through the bundle's README for proper instructions.

PSX2PSP v1.0 screen - Image 1 PSX2PSP v1.0 screen - Image 2

It's been over a month since we've heard from KingSquitter and his PSX2PSP popstation GUI application, but today we see the release of the much-awaited PSX2PSP v1.0. Recently there's been a battle between the popstation GUIs, and many homebrewers favor either IceTea or PSX2PSP, but many PSX2PSP fans have changed to IceTea because of the lack of updates recently. However, today's update brings a lot of new features, so lets take a look at the changelog:
  • Source code have been rewritten from scratch
  • Added theme support
  • Using popstrip and popstation in one DLL file so converting files is much faster
  • Program can create custom images. Check Default Icon0 profile for a example
  • Supports cdda from both .cue and .ccd files
  • Can save toc to both .cue and .cdd when extracting iso from pbp
  • Can use any type of pictures (.jpg,.bmp...) for icon0, pic0, pic1 and boot
  • Converting PBP files in one pass. (Can even PAL fix already converted PBP files)
  • And some other stuff...
All you have to do is place the base.pbp in the files folder, and if you are using 3.03 OE-B or below, you will also need keys.bin in the files folder.

UPDATE:

Batch Mode - Image 1KingSquitter's turned it into PSX2PSP popstation GUI v1.1 with the following additions:

  • Added batch mode. Check pic to the right.
  • Added command line support. Info below.
  • Added a new Customized image for icon0.
  • Fixed "The application failed to initialze properly (0xc0150002)" bug.
  • Fixed bug that made prog check for snd file instead of a at3 file.

To start batch mode run "Batch mode.lnk". (Only available after PSX2PSP.exe have been started at least once)

When converting in batch mode, all .iso, .bin, .img and .pbp files will ben converted. The program will check in every subfolder for theese files.

Command Line:

PSX2PSP.exe /theme         Opens program in theme mode.
PSX2PSP.exe /clasic           Opens program in clasic mode.
PSX2PSP.exe /batch          Opens program in batch mode.
PSX2PSP.exe "c:file.iso"   Opens c:file.iso.

There's some additional information on covers as well on the forum page, just for those folks who want even more customization in their GUI. Enjoy your download.

Simple Popstation Gui V2.21 Beta

Version 2.21 beta of ZiNgABuRgA's simple PopStation front end has now been released and is available for download. With this easy-to-use GUI, you can easily convert your PSX games to 3.03 OE-B playable format. It can also patch pre-made EBOOT.PBP files and handle save file fixes.

The download below includes all of the necessary files including the KEYS.BIN and BASE.PBP files. You can also use it to extract ISOs from EBOOTs (including compressed EBOOTs), as well as preview and compress your EBOOTs.

Changelog:
  • EBOOT reconstructing is now implemented - meaning that you can now add larger images to already made EBOOTs
  • Numerous bug fixes
  • Transfer to PSP after conversion option
  • Shows game region (useless IMO, but it does mean that my program has ALL the features of PSX2PSP now)
  • Interface cleanup
  • Now uses a "clean" BASE.PBP file

PSX2PSP v.0.7.1

Here comes another one from KingSquitter after releasing v.0.7 just a couple of days ago. (Thanks go to manias for the info.) He has just released PSPX2PSP v.0.7.1 in which he added support for compression in 3.03 OE-A. This is a GUI for Popstation that allows you to change images, save id, and title.

Instructions:
  • Place all the normal popstation files (BASE.PBP, KEYS.BIN and popstation.exe) in the "files" folder before use.
  • cygwin1.dll have to be in either c:windowssystem32 or in the "files" folder.
  • Don't have any other files than cygwin1.dll, BASE.PBP, KEYS.BIN and popstation.exe in the "files" folder.
KingSquitter has hinted that there would be another big update in the days to come. We'll keep you posted; in the meantime you can check out this new version by clicking the link below and drop by our threads.

PopStation pics.

Seth Powell and Henric Swahn decided to make your PSX-playing days on the PSP a little bit easier, as well as a lot prettier. They informed us of their new site, which aims to help gamers find appropriate icons and backgrounds for the PSX games they're putting on their PSPs.

The site's called Pixelstation, and it makes a list of icons and backgrounds you can use for your games. Some of the backgrounds are even made from Seth's own artwork, so it should be interesting to see what he'll come up with for some of the games that'll be covered there soon.

Of course, you'll need to use Dark_Alex's 3.02 OE-B to get the PopStation capabilities, but that shouldn't be a problem for savvy members of our scene. As for uploading the images onto the respective games you want them to represent, he advocates the use of the PSX2PSP interface, currently on version 0.7, to do so.

In any case, we'd like to make a request upfront. Got any room on your site for Final Fantasy Tactics and Azure Dreams? Happy downloading, everyone.

PSP Filer Screencap

After having several people look at the changes (written in Japanese), I have finally obtained a usable translation of this new PSP Filer release from our not-to-distant developer Mediumgauge. PSP Filer is a file management program for the PSP like File Assistant but boosts some features that File Assistant does not. This program is slowly receiving gradual updates to its overall support and features and is currently a very stable program, one of which was used in a recent development over file assistant (as it was not compatible). This new version boosts the following changes (Thanks CrUmp for the translation) -
  • The UMD ripping speed has been improved.
  • Fixed the bug which hangs system when the UMD ripping is canceled.
  • Displays UMD ripping speed in detail.
  • Displays the media recognition procedure and the messages at the UMD ripping moment.
Thanks AZeyC for the tip!

PSX2PSP GUI

First off, we wanna thank manias for giving us the heads up for this particular news in our forums, kudos to you my man. Alright then, now that due credit has been given, let's get to the topic at hand.

KingSquitter sure works fast, doesn't he? After releasing PSP GUI PSX2PSP v0.6 a mere three days ago, he's now back with v0.6.2 which, just in case you weren't able to catch v0.6.1 as well, integrates the following changes into the GUI:
  • Fixed a bug with PAL 2 NTSC. If you used to big pictures/sound it did not always find code to patch.
  • Added Abort to both Extract ISO and Convert PBP.
  • v.0.6.2: Fixed bug with converting ISOs. Now there should not be any "PBP file don't contain a ISO." errors when converting ISO files.
New to all this? Don't worry, you can check out our previous posts on PSX2PSP, so you can get the lowdown on this nifty homebrew app.

Finally, we'd like to get the attention of PSP newbies who got PSPs for Christmas: Welcome to the PSP community! Check out the FAQs, Guides, and Tutorials at our forums. You might want to take a close look at the Guides: General PSP for general PSP stuff (like figuring out the version of "firmware" you have in your PSP), and then you can get into homebrew by reading the threads in the Guides: Hacks, Homebrew and Emulators forum. Recommended reading includes the ULTIMATE Homebrew Guide and the The Ultimate QJ Guide.

Update: Yep, we know. Version 0.7's out already! KingSquitter might not have taken his holiday break at all, but hey, we're not really complaining, are we? In v0.7 of Simple Popstation GUI, the dev's added some new features which include:
  • Support for warning screen
  • Options; now you can set default images and folders
  • Command line support; ex: PSX2PSP.exe "C:name.iso"

0.7

v0.6

We know. It's only been a day since we brought to you the PSP GUI PSX2PSP v0.5. But regardless of how recent we've given you an update on a brew, you can be sure we'll be right on it as soon as we can.

That's why we're bringing you today v0.6 of KingSquitter's GUI, which was formerly known as Simple Popstation GUI. Now, what exactly are the changes in this version that warrants this being put up so fast? For one, that bug that made the memory stick LED flash too much has been taken care of.

What are the other goodies in store for you in this version? Check out the following:
  • Added PAL 2 NTSC fix
  • PBP files can now be previewed
  • You no longer have to re-add all the pictures when editing PBP files
  • All PBP files are now 100% editable. All info on them except the iso can be changed
  • Can automatically add pictures based on Game id. Add Pictures in Pics folder (please check Read me for more info)
  • Can use bigger pictures and sound files, in bytes, then files converted with only popstation.exe.
If you're feeling a little lost, don't fret, 'cos we have a lot of guiding hands out there. There's the Read Me, for one. And then, there's also our post on the PSP GUI PSX2PSP v0.5 from yesterday, which gave details on how to use this application. Then, there's also the thread over at our forums that you can check out.

So, for all the new breed of brewers out there, as well for the oldies, enjoy!

PSX2PSP

Do you have some more room for another PopStation GUI? Well, we better accommodate them since a lot of devs are keen on helping us maximize the capabilities of 3.02 OE-B. JuniorSlick passed by our forums recently and shared with us this program called PSX2PSP v0.5 which is a simple Popstation GUI blessed with image, save, and title support.

How to use it? Well, unlike danny_kay's take on the PopStation GUI gig, this one doesn't come with a readme file. But don't worry, the forum release thread is pretty comprehensive. Anyhow, this was made by KingSquitter and since this is the first time that we're talking about it, we'll give you some instructions on how to use it.

Usage
  • Place all the normal popstation files (BASE.PBP, KEYS.BIN and popstation.exe) in the "files" folder before use.
  • cygwin1.dll have to be in either c:windowssystem32 or in the "files" foler.
  • Don't have any other files than cygwin1.dll, BASE.PBP, KEYS.BIN and popstation.exe in the "files" folder.
v.0.5 info:
  • New name.
  • Handles already converted PBP files better. It is now possible to change title, game id and all other info in allready converted PBP files.
  • Preview option.
  • Extracts save ID from ISO file.
  • Gets game title from DB.
  • Separate game title and save title. Multidisk games can have different game titles but with one save title.
  • Shows what region the game is from.
  • SAVE THE NEW CUSTOMIZED EBOOT ON DESTOP AND THEN OVERWRITE THE PREVIOUS ONE AS IT WILL MAKE YOUR PSX GAMES NOT WORK
When changing stuff in a already converted PBP file all images have to be added again.
