The Warriors get nerfed! Nope, they were not hit by the nerf bat. They were turned into... Action figures! From Mezco Toyz comes the mini versions of Luther, Cleon, Cochise and Ajax - all in their 70's retro glory. Along with them are the Baseball Furies, in the face paint of your choice. They come in clean and dirty variants (whatever that means), and some come in limited editions. The limited edition blue faced Baseball Fury retails at US$ 749.99, while the others range from US$ 17.99 to US$ 449.99. See the rest of the crew after the jump! |

Ever wonder how life was a street thug in the '70s? Rockstar Games will take us on another trip to gangland with this new PSP port of The Warriors. We can look past the funky hair and the tacky vests when we remember that this was based on a 1979 movie of the same name.
Anyway, you saw the official trailer just a couple of days ago. Now this new video features just how much violence it takes to make it on the virtual streets. Also, here's some helpful info to get to know the Warriors:

Three new PSP games, three Konami classics. From the same guys who brought you the Metal Gear series, their retro shooter games have made a comeback in the Japanese market, with people's eyes glazing over in glee. The portable versions for Twin Bee, Parodius, and Salamander were just released last week, each costing ¥ 3000 (a little less than US$ 25).
If you weren't able to play these games back in the day...well, some might agree you probably missed half your life. There's no word yet if you can redeem yourself from that though. Konami hasn't mentioned anything yet about bringing the PSP-versions over to other shores, but still, their Gradius Collection is making us keep our hopes up. We want power-ups, Konami! Wanna know how much of your life you've missed? Check out these vids! Parodius Collection: The two other vids are behind the "Full Article" link. Power-up! Power-up! |

Before you start flaming us on the strange choice of words we picked for the title, do hear this out. Sega of America has just announced that U.K's Kuju Brighton has a new game in development titled CRUSH, which should be an interesting treat for fans of both 2D and 3D platform puzzle genres. The game is set in the mind of Dan, a man with a troubled past and severe insomnia. Turning to hypnosis as a possible cure, the game then revolves around his attempts to try to bring his life back together, all the while trying to preserve his sanity. And given the surreal backdrop for the game, expect an equally surreal gameplay environment - players will be using an interesting feature called "Crush", which allows them to compress the normally 3D environment around them (think Crash Bandicoot) into a decidedly retro 2D format (think classic Mario). The images we provide here should give you a much better idea of how that works in-game. There's also a video here awaiting download, which should clear things up even more. Be sure to check the other titles they're already setting up for release.

Anyone who's owned a PS1 is sure to remember the funky character Parappa the Rapper. With his bizarre set of friends, like Master Onion, Instructor Mooselini and Prince Fleaswallow, it sure was a fun adventure getting your rhythm right to advance to the next level.Sigh, those were the days... Can you imagine, it's been ten years?!? Yeah, it's true! In fact, a tea party was just recently held in Tokyo to celebrate the tenth year anniversary of Parappa and the gang. And illustrator and visual designer Rodney Greenblat had some good news to boot, too. As reaching the decade-mark for anything is a pretty huge deal, Sony will be re-releasing the original Parappa The Rapper for the PSP. Now, Parappa doesn't have to stay retro, 'cos he'll be getting ported to the more modern handheld. And it's all for good, too. Says Greenblat, "I think Parappa really suits a personal machine like the PSP. Please show Parappa to your friends or kids that don't know about it yet." With the game going to the PSP, we don't think introduction would be any problem. |

There are emulators, there's the Sega Genesis Collection, and then there are emulators (again). Sigh... Don't get us wrong, we like playing retro games, and we're thankful for all the effort being made by the homebrew community to bring us hacks of titles we've always enjoyed, then there's the Virtual Console and PlayStation Store for the next-gen consoles. Even with Sega's console development now virtually non-existent, we still see the resurfacing of their classics in the many emulations, both official and unofficial. But it still begs the question: don't you ever wish the original devs would actually make a sequel to some of our beloved titles? The guys over at Seganerds posted this question towards Sega, and listed up what they think are worthy titles to sequel. Here's the list, and for guys who were too young to remember these game titles, the full details are in the source link. As for us, the fact these dudes mentioned Shenmue and Panzer Dragoon, we know they're not just ranting - good choices there.

After more than a month's hiatus, Rerofumi is now back in the scene with another homebrew game, TCGS Cave. You guys might remember Rerofumi's other TCGS games: Invader and Block, which I bet a lot of you guys had a lot of fun with.
This is how Rerofumi describes TCGS Cave (according to Google Engrish at least): "Way it does not strike to the wall, the cave the sufficient simple rule which keeps advancing. Time attack 3D edition and, the retro there is a 2D edition meaninglessly, two degrees is tasty with one grain." Errrr...right. We're not sure about this one but based on the readme, TCGS Cave is based on a game show "CAVE" where the basic principle is to go through the halls (or walls, whatever) as fast as you can without crashing into them. Cool thing about it though is you can choose whether you want the game in 2D or 3D version. Rerofumi describes the 3D version as a time attack race game with three stages all in all using SDL + PSPGL. As for the 2D version, Rerofumi says it has a "very retro taste" to it, where the controls for the game is just basically Left/Right to direct your movement. Here are the controls for the 3D version:

It's time to take a trip down memory lane as Activision Hits Remixed flashbacks to retail shops nationwide. The most comprehensive collection of Atari 2600 games is now within reach in one nostalgia-filled package for the PSP. Get re-acquainted with 40 of the classic titles that usher the golden age of gaming. With titles like Pitfall, Kaboom!, Chopper Command, Stampede and Keystone Kapers, old-time (and even new) gamers will surely get a kick out of playing these classic games, that by today's standards, are simpler and easier to finish. That's not to say you can complete the game with your eyes closed. You'd be surprised how some of the games can still test your wits and challenge your reflexes, even until now. Activision Hits Remixed has multiplayer support and wireless functionality, enabling players to out-score one another, either by alternating turns or simultaneously. As a bonus, the compilation squeezed in a host of retro unlockables which include television ads, original game manuals, and Activision Patches. You might even have a blast listening to 80s-themed soundtracks which include such songs as "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell, "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister and "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats. The compilation retails for US$ 19.99. |

Drive the family nuts with your gross antics and you just might find them taking a run for it. This is what Haunting Starring Polterguy from EA Replay is all about. Sounds neat, huh? Well, for as long as you're the one doing the scaring, and not the other way around. I know I sure wouldn't want no poltergeist hanging around at my crib! Anyhow, we have here for you new screens to give you a feel of how this game would go. So a few days ago you've got the Budokan screens, the trailers on Road Rash, B.O. B shots, and now this. By this time, you should already be at least pretty much ahead of the pack when it comes to these games. Right. So, there. Get started on your strategy on how you'd win over this family's house. Happy haunting! |
