The Sony PSP - Image 1 It's said that variety is the spice of life, but perhaps it may be the spice of browsers as well - custom PSP XMB browser themes, that is. Speaking of which, homebrew developers SchmilK, -lilfibz- and psp2468 have recently released some new XMB themes for the Sony PSP. More on the new themes after the jump.

Upgrade RCO for 3.60 M33 - Image 1

PlayStation Portable customization master SchmilK has dropped by our forums to release a beefed-up list of scripts for his Updraded RCO for 3.60 M33. These scripts, according to SchmilK, provide "the muscle work to convert those rco to the new 3.60 m33 compatable using CXMB."

The good PSP developer has taken upon himself the task of providing PSP Slim owners theme customization capabilities via Upgrade RCO. He also noted that this project was completed after the CXMB was found compatible on Team M33's custom firmware 3.60. Here's the list of files updated:
  • Topmenu_plugin.rco
  • Game_Plugin.rco
  • Impose_plugin.rco
  • Msvideo_main_plugin.rco
  • Music_main_plugin.rco
  • Opening_plugin.rco
  • Premo_plugin.rco
  • Sysconf_plugin.rco
  • System_plugin_bg.rco
  • System_plugin_fg.rco
  • System_plugin.rco
  • Video_main_plugin.rco
  • Visualizer_plugin.rco
  • Sysconf_plugin_about.rco
Installation:

1. Put all of your RCO in a folder
2. Extract this contents to the folder with your old RCO and double click 2 clicks to upgrade.bat
3. Wait for the process to finish.
4. Copy your files to ms0:/cxmb/vsh/resource/
5. Enable CXMB plugin and reboot!

All the necessary information you need in installing and using this application is available right at this post. You can also go over the QJ.NET PSP forum discussion thread below to check out feedbacks from the other users who have already installed this PSP application.

Skull Wave Custom PSP theme - Image 1Full Grunge Set KDE Buuf

For today's special, we're announcing not one, not two, but three Custom PlayStation Portable (PSP) XMB themes for your customizing pleasure. Identifying them from left to right (see screenshots above): SchmilK's "Skull Wave" xmbWave theme, Dantheman29's "Full Grunge Set", and PSPCulture's "KDE Buff" custom themes.

Going into more detail, SchmilK's xmbWave theme above is actually a revised version of his original Skull Wave edit - this particular wave animation is patterned after the Punisher's skull, with future updates possibly including a Gears of War wave theme - any room for a flame theme there (Johnny Blaze approves)? The developers would also like to give credit to whomever made the battery, volume, and icons. This wave theme was tested using PSP custom firmware 3.03 OE-C.

The second theme comes in from homebrew developer Dantheman29, and as the homebrew application's name implies, is a Grunge theme for your PSP's XMB browser. We like the gritty (dare we say macho?) looks it gives our interface, although it does remind us of the Resistance: Fall of Man toolbar. Then again, it's just us. The pack contains the XMB, font, and battery icons.

The third Custom PSP theme is by PSPCulture, who just recently released the Duranium PSP theme. The KDE Buuf theme carries some bright, easy-to-spot icons for your usage, and on a strange note, uses a Sega Dreamcast controller icon for its Games menu. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but we thought it looked cute. Fonts based on (with permission) Innercy.

The full installation instructions and other important notes await in the bundle READMEs. We also encourage the readers to drop off over each custom theme's development thread over at the QJ.NET Forums in case they're looking for more details and updates. Enjoy your download!
