It took a while for the Japanese to warm up, but Japan sales are now looking good for Microsoft's Xbox 360 (8,015), so said Media Create Sales' data released for the week of June 8 to 14, thus moving it up a notch closer to the PS3 (10,009). The PSP stays cozy at number 2 with 26,904 units sold. However, to nobody's surprise, it's still Nintendo (Wii - 18,442. DS - 42,280) who's laughing all the way to the bank.

 Following the government decision to uphold PEGI as the sole and official ratings board in UK, the BBFC has sent their well-wishes, albeit still with that restrained barb. BBFC Director David Cooke insisted that the BBFC would have been the better choice. Meanwhile, top industry heads are giving their praises for the government's pick. Seems like I wasn't the only one of the opinion that E3 made a splashy comeback with this year's event. Industry bigwigs also expressed their satisfaction with how it averted near-disaster, and giving a great show despite the pull-out of some companies, as well as the threat of the A-H1N1 virus. This week's issue of Weekly Famitsu has revealed some new games for the Sony PlayStation Portable, one of them being a remake of Game Arts and Studio Alex's Sega-CD RPG Lunar: The Silver Star.

Team Typhoon has delivered. A new video demo showing homebrew launching on a PSP-3000 with official firmware 5.03 has been released. The video specifically shows Davee booting his Brite into a HEN environment and then launching the PSP homebrew game Jelly Car and the Sega Genesis emulator DGEN.

Six year old Christer from Norway was tired of his name, and since he was a big fan of Sonic, he wanted to be named after his favorite video game character. In fact, he wanted it so bad that he actually wrote to King Harald V asking for permission to have his name legally changed to "Sonic X." The King must've found the story so cute that he replied. NickyP has dropped us a line informing us about his new OpenBOR mod based on Phantasy Star Online. It's still in early demo form and there's only one playable stage right now, but it's looking pretty good so far.

There's a new DS on the market today. But before you go thinking, "What? The DSi just came out!" it's not what you think it is. It's not from Nintendo, but instead is from Chinavasion. DS is the name, short for "Delightfully Small". Nintendo probably won't be too fond of this new gadget, we're sure.

While I'm still very much into Patapon 2 right now (I'm actually already at the last stage, awww - I don't want it to end!), a different kind of Fever is brewing elsewhere. Following Puyo Pop Fever, the next installment in Sega's Puyo Puyo jello drop-down puzzler franchise is currently in the works for the PSP, DS, and Wii.
