PSP Weekend Warrior - Image 1A PSP price drop? A new comic book and graphic novel service from Sony? Edible PSPs? We heard all about that stuff this week, along with some news that Capcom has been digging around in its PSOne game catalog and will be releasing more classics on the PSN soon enough. It was busy in the software side as well, especially with Resistance: Retribution's launch. That's not to say that other games didn't get their chances in the spotlight. In fact, we heard more about upcoming software releases this week than in the last couple of weeks. Count how many times I said "week". Anyway. On to the show!

Resistace RetributionSo whatever happened during the dev chat scheduled a few days ago for Resistance: Retribution? Well, most of it had generic questions from the fans - talk of Infected Mode and whether it's actually part of story canon (watch the ending!), plans for DLC (none!), PSP-to-PS3 connectivity, and other matters, etc., etc. - but some interesting parts of the chat had the devs commenting on the issue of people pirating their games, and another one on the cheaters roaming around online matches.

Resistance: Retribution - Image 1Played the demo yet? It sure feels so cool when you realize that you're playing Resistance on the PSP. That's exactly what the guys at Sony Bend were aiming for. They wanted to get that intense Resistance gameplay that we know so well from the PS3 and put it into Resistance: Retribution. Video coming up after the link.

Resistance: Retribution - Image 1Sony has made many promises before on raising PSP and PS3 interconnectivity. Unfortunately, that probably doesn't include more games - aside from Resistance: Retribution - being able to use the PSP via the DualShock 3. A Sony rep said they aren't even considering the possibilities yet.

Aww damn, and there are so many possibilities...

Savior - Image 1Want to join the resistance for.. *ahem* some retribution? Sony Bend's upcoming game will be hitting retail very soon, but if you can't wait to trash some alien scum, why not do it homebrew style in a side-scrolling space shooter?

Resistance: Retribution - Image 1I admit, I have ulterior motives for wanting Resistance: Retribution to get released as soon as possible (new Syphon Filter!), but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate it as what it is: a great-looking game from what is probably the foremost studio when it comes to PSP third-person shooters. See it in action in the CES 2009 trailer found after the jump.

Resistance: RetributionThough Killzone 2 on the PS3 might be coming in a few days earlier in Europe than in North America, it's another story (a very familiar story, at that) for Resistance: Retribution. The good news is that the PSP shooter has finally gotten a release date for Europe. The bad news is that Europe comes in last of the release pipeline.

Resistance: Retribution - Image 1The folks at Japanese gaming website Game Watch recently got Sony Bend to demo Resistance: Retribution for them, and they've posted a lot of new screenshots from the game as evidence. Check 'em out after the jump.

Resistance: Retribution - Image 1Karl's 2009 wish just came true, Resistance: Retribution gets release dates for US and Japan. While I don't know if the next Syphon Filter title is in the works, Resistance: Retribution is indeed out of the kitchen and is making its way into dinner plates.
