The last time we heard from Team AoP, we received word that yes, they will be resuming work on their highly-anticipated custom firmware for the PlayStation Portable. It's been quite a while since then, but now we get an update on what seems to be Team AoP's ability to make firmwares. QJ.NET forums poster MaTiAz, giving credit to fellow poster Cloudhunter, made a thread that quotes forum posts allegedly made by members of Team AoP, specifically yanko693 and nephron. The posts contain quite a bit of code, with nephron and yanko693 asking for assistance, as well as tips on how to reverse-engineer or code certain functions. A quote from the thread, verbatim: Originally Posted by yanko693 i was wondering what i would have to do to make say a password program run on psp bootup before getting to the xmb. i want to password protect getting into my xmb and i want to implement it into a project im halfway though. Of course, we can't confirm that the posters quoted are in fact Team AoP, or someone merely posing as them - so we'll leave you to decide just what's going on, until Team AoP resurfaces. You can check out the entire thread via the read link below. |

Originally posted Sept 18, 2007 at 2:34AM We've just received word that new developers Team AoP have temporarily ceased development on all of their projects until further notice. The news comes just after Team M33 released their own statement, saying that it would take longer for them to develop a new custom firmware. According to a statement by Team AoP, personal problems and testing issues were behind the ceasing of development. However, a recent edit also mentioned that they weren't completely going to stop. Yanko, team leader for AoP had this to say: "We simply have some reconsidering too (sic) do. lol but were (sic) back to the drawing board to realllly (sic) blow m33 outta the water." In any event, we certainly hope both teams the best of luck with their development. After all, we're all part of the same homebrew community, after all. We're not exactly sure yet what made the wind change its course, but apparently, Team AoP will NOT be ceasing development after all. This was the update posted on PSP Crazy only hours after the original announcement that the Team will be going on some form of hiatus after all the controversies surrounding them. So, they will be continuing work on that custom firmware after all. Again, we don't know what made them retract their previous announcement this soon, but regardless of that, the news is that they've jumped right back on the wagon. Stay tuned for more updates on this! Thanks to eazy dawg for the tip! |

We were earlier alerted of an upcoming homebrew team working on a new CFW. Team AoP is the latest custom firmware team on the block, and they've announced that they're creating their very own 3.52 CFW. While some of you have already aired out their concerns and opinions about having too much CFWs available, well, isn't that for the good? It's all about the power to choose anyways, right? And at the end of the day, it's all about supporting the homebrew community">homebrew community. Regardless, we're still trying to keep tabs on when AoP will finally release the CFW. They say it'll go public sometime "within the next week." But for those who are interested in getting a sneak peek of what it'll look like, tipster Twister2706 was able to dig up more screenshots of the CFW as posted in the Team AoP forums. Now these screens are a few days old, just so you know. But we're posting it here for the sake of all the nay-sayers out there. Looks promising, ey? Again, thanks to Twister2706 for the tip! |
