FastPower v0.4.1 - Image 1Homebrew developer Test30 has released an update for FastPower, a quick tune up for compatibility with Team M33's recent release of their CFW 3.71. FastPower v0.4.1 will now run under the new CFW with the PSP and PSP Slim.

FastPower is a plugin app that lets you turn off or reboot your PSP while playing a game or while in the XMB by pressing a combination of buttons. The program is essentially the same as before; there are no changes in the new build other than being made to be compatible with the new firmware.

The instructions for installing and running the app are in the Readme file which is included in the bundle. As always users are encouraged to go over the Readme before installing it on their units.

FastPower v0.4 - CFW 3.60 M33 compatible - Image 1Homebrew developer Test30 dropped by the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums and released a a new build for FastPower. This is a plugin, for the uninitiated, that allows users to turn off the PlayStation Portable unit at once by pressing a button or two whether while playing a game or in the XMB.

This update brings FastPower to version 0.4 and what's exciting about this build is that it has been made compatible with PSP Slim and Lite. Actually, the plugin has two modes - Version Normal and Version Slim. Like we said, the latter is for the new PSP (CFW 3.60 M33).

Version Normal, on the other hand, is for PSP units running on CFW 3.52 M33-4. Aside from what's been mentioned, FastPower v0.4 is essentially the same as the previous version. Anyway, for those planning to use this plugin, be sure to go over the Readme.txt file before installing this on your handheld units.

FastPower v0.3 - Image 1Test30's just released an update to his FastPower application/plugin for everyone. It still does the same thing as before: allows you to switch off or restart your PSP with one press of a button (actually, to be exact, they're two buttons pressed at the same time). This can be done whether you're in-game or on the XMB.

But what's new here is that, aside from the bug fixes, it now runs on FW 3.51 M33-X. Well, we're not surprised. Good homebrew tend to see updates whenever CFWs get released. Think of it as a sign that the developer cares about you and that they're taking time to tweak their projects for your perusal on the most recent firmware updates.

Since everyone and their happy monkey has probably switched over to the CFW 3.50 from the M33 Team, we're bound to see a whole slew of homebrew for that can run on the said CFW. Either that's going to be new homebrew, or updated homebrew, we get a fresh new batch nonetheless.

Now before you do anything, make sure you check the included readme in the zipped archive. It contains specific instructions on how to install the plugin, as well as how exactly to execute its functions.

CFW 3.51 M33-6 from Team M33 - Image 1Team M33 just came up with a new build to their custom firmware 3.51 M33. This should be the sixth development update ever since this particular custom firmware came out. We have to say that the additional notes included in this release are far more interesting than the changelog itself.

Anyway, we won't keep you waiting as we know you're dying to find out what's new with CFW 3.51 M33-6. Directly below is the complete changelog. What follows after that are the said additional notes:

CFW 3.51 M33-6 changelog:
  • This update introduces a new no-UMD more: the famous Sony np9660
  • The compatibility of this mode is not yet known, let's hope Sony codes well
  • Remember to choose "Sony NP9660" in recovery to use this new mode
Additional Notes from Team M33 (taken word-for-word from Team M33's release page):
  • We've known that on some English-talk forums, there is someone called "McDanny" telling that he is part of M33 Team. This note is to say that he is NOT from M33, and just a faker wanting some attention. Please don't believe him, as you won't see any mail, notice or anything outside our webpage (m-33.narod.ru) or pspx forum posts.
  • To the attention of becus25 and Test30: Please do not do any of your releases based from our firmwares. You steal and change name but contribute a tiny 20-line plugin. You are a shame for PSP development!
  • For not Russian users - especially website admins: For every sites, if you appreciate our releases and the visitors that they bring to you, we would appreciate if you could put our Paypal link in evidence as we need to purchase hardware materials. Thank you.

Custom Firmware 3.51 M33-4 from Team M33 - Image 1 QJ.NET PSP Development Forum mainstay blackbird 0001 has just informed us that Team M33 has come up with a new update for its custom firmware, bringing it up to 3.51 M33-4. Take note that this is different from the recent CFW addon provided by coder Test30.

Anyway, what we have here is a cumulative update, meaning previous improvements such as the WLAN fix and the no UMD function have been included again alongside new additions. Also, take note that this release is now complete with plugin options for 1.5 kernel homebrew. Anyway, here's the changelog:
  • Bugfix for the released yesterday no-umd. This should fix the exit to the XMB with error 80020001 that happened to some people, or reduce its appearance.
  • Added plugins options for homebrew that use 1.50 kernel. The file to be used for it, is ms0:/seplugins/game150.txt.
  • There is other bugfix, but we don't know if it will make much difference in compatibility.
  • In order to make compatibility tests, please remember that your ISO shouldn't be more than 54 chars.
If this is going to be your first time to use Team M33's custom firmware, please refer to the Readme file first before installing the program on your PlayStation Portable unit. It is also helpful to read the posts from our PSP Development Forum for an extensive discussion about this.

*UPDATE* (Original article posted Jul 18, 2007 at 11:15AM)

McDanny just emailed us of a quick update for M33-4 custom firmware by Team M33. In a matter of hours, the previous version has now been bumped up to M33-5 with a tiny bug fix. Tiny as it might be, its effects are substantially big. To quote his email (it's also what's written on the Readme file, by the way):

Greetings!

This update (yet another) fixes two important bugs in the no-UMD mode. The bugs affected SOCOM 2, Virtual Tennis 3 and probably many more games.

3.51 IE expansion for 3.51 MM3 - Image 1It's raining custom firmwares! Just a while ago, we heard about Team M33's latest update to the much-welcome custom firmware 3.51 M33-4. Prior to that, we had Test30's CFW 3.51 LE-A. This time, its becus25's turn with his own 3.51 IE expansion for 3.51 M33.

This program is quite similar to the previous expansion programs for DAX's OE firmwares. That means that flashing this on your PlayStation Portable unit will allow you to have two recovery menus. Aside from that, 3.51 IE expansion for 3.51 M33 also sports a feature that lets you uninstall the program from the recovery menu.

Seeing that this is just the initial build, no changelog is currently available. The following reminders, however, were provided by becus25:
  • Autoboot now activate again.
  • For use this software, use the flasher and activate the autoboot option from the recovery of Dax/M33.
  • Then, start the PSP with start button pressed to load the IE recovery.
  • It contains a additional autoboot option. For use it, activate the autoboot option from the IE recovery, then put a eboot.pbp on pspgameieboot.
As an additional reminder, please take note that 3.51 IE expansion should be installed from 3.51 M33. If you don't know what you're doing, it is advisable to browse through the Readme file first before using this program on your PSP.

We would like to thank Tyler for the tip!

Flasher XMB v0.6 from Test30 - Image 1Homebrew developer Test30 recently dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and released a new build for Flasher XMB, bringing it to version 0.6. Aside from the obvious function of allowing users to flash their PlayStation Portable unit's XMB, this program also allows flashing of archives.

Version 0.5 saw the addition of an English menu so those who'd like to use this as well as those who've been utilizing this since the previous build should encounter minimal, if no problems at all. Anyway, here are the new things added by Test30 to Flasher XMB v0.6:
  • New Aspect in the Menu
  • Fixed Some bug
  • Now have protection for no have semi brick
The developer also cautioned that to flash various files such as RCO and font, you must put them in their respective folders first, namely Font and Icon. Test30 has still a couple of reminders to be found in the program's Readme file so read that first.

FastPowr v0.2 from Test30 - Image 1Plugin FastPower from homebrew developer Test30 is kind of useful especially for those who have PSP units with rather defective power switches. What the program actually does is allow users to turn off their PlayStation Portable or put it in standby mode with just one button press.

FastPower v0.2, much like the previous build, can be used both from the XMB and while playing a game. This is particularly important in making sure that we have put our units in standby mode or we will lose all those in-game progress if we forget to save and the battery runs out of charge.

Tesat30 mentioned that this works perfectly well with custom firmwares 3.10, 3.30 and 3.40 OE. The accompanying Readme fie has all the information regarding button presses that works with the plugin depending if you're on the XMB or while playing a game. In short, don't forget to read that first before installing this.
