VideopSpy v3.0 - Image 1

We've previously seen a PRX module which lets you hide your files via the XMB. Today though, we've got a full blown app that allows you to make some sensitive media files of yours (videos and pictures) hidden.

The interesting thing about VideopSpy is that when accessed via the XMB, it looks like a normal homebrew calculator application. See the screencap above? Nothing suspicious about that right? And it's only when you input your correct code that your hidden files show up. Smaaart.

After a few months since the release of version 2.0, transce080 (previously known as dark420bishop) has finally come up with a new update which gives you a lot more options in hiding your sensitive files. VideopSpy v3.0 has the following details in its changelog:
  • Rewritten from scratch in C
  • Major graphical face-lift
  • New Instant Action mode
  • Expanded to include more directories
The readme is very comprehensive in that it has easy-to-follow installation instructions and other notes on FW/CFW compatibility. There's a section which explains how to hide (and unhide) your files, and an informative troubleshooting/FAQ guide that you can refer to just in case things get tricky, so make sure you take a look at the readme.

Thanks to transce080 for the tip!

JaPSPanese - Image 1

Need to brush up on your proficiency with the Japanese language (for reading all your manga, we presume)? PSP homebrew coder transce080 dropped by the QJ.NET forum earlier to announce the release of JaPSPanese. This application is a learning tool that will help users practice their hiragana/katakana. Quoting the readme's summary of this application's functions:

You can cycle through the hiragana/katakana in consecutive order or in random order. Random mode will use each hiragana/katakana only once for each cycle of the set. You may choose to have the hiragana/katakana or the letters displayed first. The answer is displayed until you release the button, then it moves to the next question. Scrolling through the hiragana/katakana in consecutive mode will not interrupt your progress in random mode.

Full controls and installation instructions should be available in the readme included with the file, and over at the author's release thread in the QJ.NET forum. transce080 further notes that JaPSPanese is built to run on custom firmwares, or 1.00. If you plan to run the app on 1.5, you will have to format its EBOOT accordingly. Enjoy the download, and be sure to check out similar apps like PSP Kanji to give yourself a more well-rounded study session.
